  1. IC: Fate - Gym I heard the breaking of glass behind me, and drops of some stinging substance flecked my calves. I turned to see a mass of hardened goo on the ground where I'd been standing moments before. Had I not been running for the doorway, I'd not be running at all- "Hnghh!!" My foot stood still as I tried to move forward, enough of the sticky substance to halt my progress. But only just enough to halt me, as my forward momentum pried my foot free of the small amount on my foot. Still, it was amazing that only drops had rendered me a heap on the ground. Staying on all fours in case the goo had not dried, I crawled as quickly as I could through the doorway, and pressed against the wall, my legs gathered up underneath me. Fingering pebbles from the wall with my powers, I applied it to as many of the drops as I could see. Hopefully that would halt the goo's properties.
  2. IC: Phantom - The Forge The weather control rahk beamed in response, watching Gaever as she turned to her work. Considering how quickly the staff adjustments had taken, she figured the two of them would get to work in no time at all. For the time being, however, Phantom played the part of observer dutifully, now keeping a careful eye on her friend's crafting process. Truthfully, Phantom had no real idea what an axe was. All she had to go on was the object in Gaever's hands. Every time that she paused in her work, Phantom wondered if she'd finished or not. Her breath caught in her throat as she anticipated to receive the metal object, only to release it when the metalworker continued. It also seemed that Phantom's estimation of time had been off. Maybe her distraction had disguised the passage of time previously, but it certainly felt longer. This anticipation also meant that when Gaever did finally give the axe to Phantom, it was all the more exciting and intriguing. She accepted the familiar staff with the unfamiliar addition. Stars seemed to glow in her already luminescent eyes. She tapped the bottom of her staff to the ground, wielding it proudly. "It will." She responded, as confident in Gaever's work as she was pleased. "Help now?" IC: Fate - Gym "Hey!" Karz. I should have found another vantage point first. My back was in the open air of the building interior, as were my heels and lower back. No turning back. Rifle in hand, I tried to pry a bullet from my side, but it was mid transition between levels, so I couldn't even get into it. Double Karz. I poured all of my focus and effort into the disruption of the ground around me, feeling the strain on my suit and slug. My neck and legs were all that was left. I considered my current options, A; use what limited ammo I have in my shoulders and show my hidden card, B; feign for help, which would be more than unlikely given, or C; continue to bore through the ceiling as the poison rahk approached. Not a terribly appealing set of choices. I supposed option D would have to do. Pushing my body up by my arms, I brought my legs in underneath me and shoved them through the hole, my body following suit. I landed on the ground below, and took off towards the nearest doorway.
  3. IC: Fate - Gym Gun reloaded, I rolled over to return to my original position. As I did, I caught sight of a rahk from the offending team flying to the roof nearby, and landing. Not good. This was the rahk with the sticky poison, which would did not bode well for me. However, the vip had to take precedence. Taking less time to aim for fear of being discovered, I targeted the shoulder of the whip holding arm of Kri's assailant. As I did, I began to erode the molecules of the stone beneath me, sinking into the roof with a light hissing sound. I pulled the trigger, and tucked my rifle against my body as I rotated my body and slowly tunneled through the ceiling. I only needed a few more moments to get through. IC: Phantom - The Forge She looked up quickly, shaking her head. She didn't want to offend Gaever, and she really was interested in the forging process.... But she was afraid of getting distracted with her wind again. "Maybe I watch, and after.... you help me?" IC: Sim - Gym "Alright, alright... I'm not too keen on running through the middle of the street, that's like painting a target on my face. But," He pointed his arm to the wall, and shot the grappling cable into it. "If you head across to the other side, I could catch your arms with this."
  4. IC: Fate - Gym Ah. Here we are. Laying flat on the building top, my barrel resting on the lip of the roof while my hands found their way to the grip and trigger, I aimed my gun at the crackling intruder's thigh... And fired. Scooting back to hide both the barrel and my body, I lay flat again. It was entirely possible I'd been seen, but one has to try. I made sure to reload my rifle with another piercing round as I hid.
  5. IC: Phantom - The Forge She shook her head slowly. "No, no fault." She patted her own chest, "Distracted with.... wind." To demonstrate, she tried to flick another gust of wind from her fingers, only generating a light breeze. IC: Fate - Gym I couldn't waste any more time waiting for the bickering to end. "I'm going up there," I pointed to the roof of a nearby building, "To take a defensive position. If you should devise a better plan, come and let me know." For emphasis, I drew my rifle from the compartment in my side, unfolding it to full length. Then, I jumped at the building, entering flight only long enough to reach the lip of the roof, where I dropped into a roll, and lay flat on the ground. I did all this to minimize my mid-air exposure to any watching eyes.
  6. IC: Phantom - The Forge "Yes." After a moment, she added, "Sorry." She handed the staff back to Gaever, head turned down in embarassment. IC: Sim - Gym The stasis rahk rubbed at his "temples", or whatever you'd call them, still coming off the panic of a new situation. "Alright, can you even stretch that far? And assuming you do, what would we do after they've been tripped?" IC: Slif - Gym To be honest, I was surprised they were going along with it so fast. I mean, I'd gotten a good laugh, but not really any pushback. "Oh. Uh.... alright then." The plates of my back carapace slid as I curled forward, adaptation taking hold again. I should have kind of a tighter grip to keep my ball form now. Waiata started climbing in, cramping into the space between my chest and legs. "Oof. This is uh. This is a little weird. How are you doing?"
  7. IC: Slif - Gym "So, I can do this." I curled up into the ball form I'd used during my chase exercise from a while ago. "And if Waiata can fit in here, we could just roll me along while I take all the damage that might hit em." My muffled voice escaped the ball.
  8. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water In a somewhat uncharacteristic fashion, Phantom lost all interest in Gaever's work, instead focusing more on the strange burst of wind. She had moved through all eight fingers and motions of the wrist, not finding any notable response. Maybe it wasn't to do with the hands? It could be something deeper, hidden inside her. Something not so apparent... She had felt the cold. That is what caused it only moments ago. The cold, and the surprise from the fish. Could it be locked away somewhere in there, between the cold stillness and the wild feelings? Trying to remember more what she had felt in her mind more than in her hands, she thought back to her encounter. She was like... a rock on a hill. The cold had made her aware of it, and the surprise pushed it over. She had to reach that awareness again. "It is complete." Gaever's words startled her, and a smaller burst of air escaped her nostrils. Definitely more than just a breath. The mist from her body had also expanded quickly in that moment to cover the ground. She stood silently, embarrassed. Finally, she took the offered staff with a mumbled "Thank you." IC: Sim - Gym "Until just a few moments ago, we were nothing to each other, and we are still complete strangers to each other now." He huffed out, the irritation a result of Sim's apparent lack of control of his life. "Personally, I'd rather find a way to hide as quickly as possible. "Also," He said, rotating his hand in a 'get on with it' motion, "I'd rather know the names of those whom I will die with. I'm Sim Xire." IC: Slif - Gym "You betcha," I said, only half joking. If there was anything I was good at, it's being a meat shield. "So uh, I may have an idea? It working just depends on how small you can scrunch up, VIP."
  9. IC: Fate - Gym How completely and utterly distasteful. Upon hearing this rahk say even a few words, I instantly regretted ever coming to the gym at all. "Firstly, my name is Fate. Secondly, my variation is molecular disruption." Removing a bullet round from my concealed ammunition, I displayed this power by rolling it into a more needle-like shape. "Thirdly," I indicated the illusory door, "Is there any option to change VIPs? This rahk seems a far more viable option if they are able to hide in plain sight.
  10. IC: Fate - Gym Hm. This didn't bode so well. No team benefited from having a show-off, let alone one with a name such as Liar. I turned to the tan and blue rahk nearby. "What of the rest of you? Variation, tactical skills, specialties, anything of particular utility?" IC: Slif - Gym "Ah, yeah, I didn't, " I scratched under my chin idly, "Name's Slif. I'm good at being.... big. And taking a lot of hits." IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water The rahkshi nodded, giving Gaever the go-ahead for her plans. Of course, in the back of her mind she was still pouring over what she had done moments before, trying to recall what had triggered the blast of air. Maybe that could be useful to Gaever in some way? Leaning against the wall, but turning to face more towards the door, Phantom began trying to trigger the air currents again. First, little finger. She twitched it a little, trying to exercise every muscle. ... Nope. On to the next finger, and so she went.
  11. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Phantom appeared in the doorway of the forge, still mystified. The bucket was only half full, thanks to her stumbling, but it still had at least some water. "Here." She said, half looking at Gaever, half at nothing.
  12. IC: Sim Xire - Gym "Oh that's alright," He said quickly. The headmaster was saying something, but Sim couldn't bother to listen while he explained, "I was just on my way out, actually, and I definitely have something else to do right now so I simply can't-" And suddenly, everything around him was different, except for the three rahk. Panic began to set. "Oh. Oho, no. No no no, no, no, no no no no no, nO." IC: Fate - Gym There had been no obvious choice, so I wandered casually, trying to determine the best candidates for a team. Most had already been fully formed though, so there wasn't much that could be done.... Until I found myself with three other students, in the recreation of a city block. I swore under my breath, my lack of action may have cost me a good team. I surveyed the others, making no sound yet. They seemed that they may be quite capable, actually, but whether they would work together was indeterminate. "I suppose I've been slotted with you, then." I finally said. IC: Slif - Gym "I have absolutely no preference here. What do you guys say?" Ohp, we moved. That was weird. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Phantom nodded briskly, took the bucket, and ran outside to the river. Hopefully this wouldn't be a common occurrence, as she might be liable to trip... Which she did not, and made her way to the river without event. As she dipped her bucket in the river, she felt a new sensation: cold. She shivered. How exciting a feeling? It made her feel awake, and alert. It seemed the shiver was trapped inside her as well, as it bounced from her chest back into the ends of her arms, and around again. And then a fish bumped against her hand. She yelped, and some force escaped her hands, blowing her and the fish out of the water. She sat there, breathing heavily, at this new development. Was this normal? Was she supposed to... do whatever it was she just did? And she wondered... how did she do it? Because she'd very much like to do it again. Enraptured, she would have forgotten the bucket on her way back to the forge had it not already been firmly grasped in her hand.
  13. IC: Slif - Gym "Waiata, Pyle, Reda. Nice, nice. Same goes to you." I indicated Waiata and grinned in reply.
  14. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Somewhat hestitantly, Phantom extended the staff to Gaever. "Alright..." She said, still unsure. IC: Sim Xire - Gym Drat. He'd been noticed. "Ah. Uh, hello. Don't mind me, I was just," I grabbed the staff and jammed it back into it's slot, "Grabbing my staff. My apologies for any, uh, intrusion."
  15. IC: Slif - Gym I grinned my sharp grin. That was a good sign. "Great! Who's on the team then?" IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water "Um...." Phantom wasn't sure about that. She didn't have any significant attachment to the staff, but half of her worried that it might break. "Would that work? Making two?" OOC: Sim is basically behind Luffy, btw.
  16. IC: Fate - Gym Just as I'd intended to, I had made my way to the gym after working on the corpse in my dorm. The holsters now sat on my hips, the chargers removed. I brandished my new spine as well, having found no issues with it's construction. It was a unique feeling whenever I improved my suit. A satisfaction, a pride, I could never duplicate with any other work. I wore this feeling outwardly as I strode into the gym. Rather than exercise, though, I found myself looking for the weapons that would match my newly acquired holsters. It was during this that the sudden appearance of Icarax interrupted my search, and prompted me to enter the gym proper. Perhaps this would be an opportunity to test my adjustments? IC: Slif - Gym Somehow I'd lumbered into the gym again. I don't really know what had happened for the past hour, I'd been kind of between awake and asleep the whole time. Had I followed the others to the gym? Who knows. Either way, here I was, and just in time to see our "headmaster" appear. "Since when did we have assignments?" I muttered. I walked up to a Rahk nearby, a bright red one with gold markings. "Uh... you got space in a team?" IC: Sim Xire - Gym Sim's wandering had brought him to the gym as well. Not exactly where he'd have liked to end up, but it was better than nothing. As we was about to walk on, his staff exploded out of his arm again, soaring through the doorway to clatter on the floor. He sighed. What a day. Nervously, he walked into the gym, stooping to grab his staff as a student was violently kicked right next to him, and then kicked again. He couldn't help but wince. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water "Yes. Att-ach-ments would be good." Phantom held the staff in her hands, imagining what could be done. She could have imagined a great many things, but all she could drum up at the moment could be summed up as "longer stick". She was sure something good would come to mind. "What would you do?"
  17. IC: Kekepua - The Cauldron How pitiful that such a mighty creature would have to stoop to this... "Very Well. Together, then." She fully intended to use the other as a living umbrella as much as she could. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water "My... oh." Her staff. She hadn't thought about it for some time. "I didn't know attchm..." She huffed, and slowed down. "Att-ach-ments, were needed." Bigger word. Harder to sound out for the first time.
  18. IC: Kekepua - The Cauldron "Oh yes, immediately. If there is nothing blocking our path, then we must make use of all our time." The lizardine rahk dashed forward towards the waterfall, running more like a beast than a rahkshi. She was beneath putting her hands on the ground though, so they remained close to her glorious, iridescent as she ran. In all of her majesty, however, she nearly forgot about the fact there was indeed an obstacle between her and the beautiful cloth. That blasted waterfall. Slowing her pace, the crimson glory halted before the cascading deluge of water. "Foul substance," She muttered. "Is it necessary for us to cross through this? Are there any other doors?"
  19. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Phantom nodded, and began walking alongside Gaever. As they went, she began to notice the difference in their strides. While walking was not difficult for the Rahkshi of Weather Control, it was not nearly as graceful or confident as her companion's. She'd have to work on that. Subtly trying to match Gaever's stance and posture more, Phantom looked at Gaever. "So... metal." She shook the tarp, "Next?"
  20. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Phantom had found few more things in the wreckage of the village, but the haul of mask shards had more than made it's mark. At Gaever's call, she traipsed over to her, carrying the bag over her shoulder. "Found some." She said to Gaever as they walked, shaking the tarp heartily. IC: Kekepua - The Cauldron Setting down at the entrance to Cauldron, the crimson rahk stretched her toes, and clawed happily at the ground. There was much to be found in this place. "What have we here, then?"
  21. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Phantom also turned from the grave, ready to set her efforts towards a more hopeful project. She kept the shovel on hand, dangling it from her fingers. Within minutes, she had found her next quarry. A pile of broken shards of what must have been masks. The building they were in was mostly collapsed, but one corner still held a table and the many pieces. A small hammer was resting alongside them. Rather than gathering Gaever's attention to another potentially time-consuming side project, Phantom got hold of a burnt yet sizeable piece of tarp, and scooped the shards into it. If anything, it was doubtful these were worn by anyone that died in the razing of the village, so it was doubtful that this was any less respectful than regular looting. Though why anyone would keep random scrap on hand is anyone's guess. ... Except that was exactly what Gaever and Phantom were doing, so, no judgement was passed from Phantom. Dragging the bag of metal shards, she trundled back out of the collapsed structure.
  22. IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water Patting the ground with her shovel, Phantom and Gaever's makeshift grave was complete. She stood alongside Gaever, feeling some tiny portion of the weight she felt. It seemed the world Phantom had woken up to was a sad one. "Now?" She questioned Gaever.
  23. IC: Threiaa - New Atero "Yeah, I'm going with you. He's elected to stick a-" She stopped herself, while in the presence of a guard. "Stay, ah. Staying. He's staying." OOC: I want to add on that they are now near the tower, but I'm waiting for Zip
  24. IC: Threiaa - Beastie Bits She just stared at Ailun, a little exasperated, a little disgusted. Definitely disgruntled. "You're a nasty little matoran, aren't you?" She said, "I moight smell like rot, but you've got rot stuck up in your gut. I'm gonna follow tha guard lady. Wait up for me if you still want a captain, or a cut." She turned, more disappointed in Ailun than angry, and approached the guard. IC: Tveke - Second Breath "Thanks." I grunted. I walked on over to the great windows of the bridge. The things these walls have seen...
  25. IC: Tveke - Second Breath I sighed. It had been thousands of years, but the off chance that she knew the name "Tveke" wouldn't bode well for me. "Only name a' mine that matters anymore is that." I finally answered, my voice quieter than before.
