  1. That would also likely involve capturing a large majority of the remaining Zyglak population formerly trapped inside the Matoran Universe, which, given the fact that mostly everyone of importance were tied up in some way or another due to Makuta Teridax's shenanigans, not to mention that the entire species migrated to Spherus Magna after its reformation, would've been virtually impossible to do. Not only did Toa lack the necessary time required for them to even attempt this, but they'd also be severely outnumbered in the long run as there's currently only around forty of them left alive; seeing as to how the Zyglak were an unwanted byproduct from the process that created Krana, it would probably be safe to assume that their numbers started off at less than half of the combined total of Bohrok the Great Beings originally produced for the GSR before they gave the task to the Bahrag, and for all we know, that means there could be hundreds (if not thousands) more of them running around than the one's we've actually physically seen in the story. As for Orde, I also seem to recall that he royally screwed up said job, which happened in the presence of the Great Beings themselves (likely the only time in their history that all Zyglak were concentrated in one specific place) and could've very well have been part of the reason why nobody has ever attempted to do it again since.
  2. R.I.P. Wasteland. Sad to see it go.
  3. Si vis pacem, para bellum; if you want peace, prepare for war. Seeing as the Zyglak hated other beings inside of the MU to the point where they would attack them on sight, trying to put someone through counseling while they're immediately attempting to disintegrate you or kill you in any other manner that allows them to feast on your corpse seems just a tad bit ridiculous. And yes, they actively ate people, according to Vezon, which would make them the cannibals of the Bionicle universe. Reason doesn't help you out much when faced with an enemy that both hates your guts and simultaneously wants to stuff their face with them. For the record, however, the Toa Code really only forbids needless killing, not killing in general. It was perfectly acceptable to do so if there was literally no other way to defeat an enemy, if it was a life or death situation, or if it had to be done to save the life of another.
  4. You do know that a post doesn't necessarily have to open with combat, right...? Just whipping something up to hint that your characters are at least partially reacting still counts as a valid turn, and, by extension, helps move the scene forward. Example: Character A: (Sees Character B.) Hi! Character B: (Walks calmly over to Character A and kicks them in the family jewels.) Character C: (Sitting on a nearby bench with Character D, enjoying a sandwich and noticing the scene.) Did they just...?* Character D: (Covertly trying to swipe Character C's pickles for his own sandwich, only to end up distracted.) Uh-oh.* Character A: (Writhing on the ground in agony.) Agh! My family jewels! Character B: (Laughs at the pain they caused Character A before trying to steal their wallet.) Character C: (Setting aside their meal in order to aid Character A.) Hey, you! Stop! Character D: (Crams the rest of their sandwich, standard amount of pickles and all, into their mouth before dashing over and kicking Character B in the face.) * Essentially your current position within the interaction.
  5. I'm perfectly content with waiting around for everybody else to make their moves. Taranis and Tenjin's opening salvo might be a little... intense, and it's only fair that everyone involved gets the chance to type up a post in beforehand.
  6. Well, all of the elements are stupidly OP to a tee. Consider Air, for example--with enough energy at the user's disposal, it can level a building manually, suck all the air out of an area to simulate the vacuum of space, blow away any potential aggressors, make people explode from the inside by expanding the air in their lungs, etc. However, given the restrictions brought about by the Toa Code and a Toa's specific limitations, that may not always be a realistic outcome. The same may apply to Kinetics--the amount of elemental energy needed for some particularly OP things, like leveling buildings, may be more than any one Toa might have at a specific time. True, but seeing as to how control over wind (and pretty much most other elemental abilities and/or power effects) is still essentially achieved via movement, and a Toa of Kinetics would have control over pretty much all forms of motion, they could effectively negate any attempts to harm them simply by absorbing Kinetic energy from the immediate area. Aside from Gravity, Magnetism, Psionics' telepathy (if we were to disregard the potential mental shielding), and possibly Light, it's basically the element of shutting down all other elements/powers. And that's not even taking the majority of its other potential uses into consideration, so it pretty much single-handedly redefines the entire definition of "stupidly OP".
  7. Yeah, I'm not sure I totally buy into that explanation for Kinetics, either. If kids have little to no trouble understanding how the powers of Gambit, Bishop, and Sebastian Shaw work over in Marvel's X-Men continuity, then expecting them to grasp how a Toa of Kinetics could potentially function shouldn't have really been that big of a leap to begin with. Then again, I suppose that one could create a case in which it would've robbed some of the other elements of their uniqueness, as well as it being more than a little OP. I mean, just taking the three previously mentioned characters as an example, one with the power over Kinetics could effectively: - cause things to explode - charge their weapons with enough energy to level a building - possess enhanced physical attributes, and by that, I mean pretty much all of them - possess immunity to mental detection, intrusion, and assault - influence other beings via a hypnotic charm - perform transmutation (turning one substance into another) - disintegrate/incinerate other objects or beings - fire off energy blasts and absorb them - defy gravity - heal wounds - cause paralysis or death by ceasing the motion of other beings or simply force them to be unable to stop moving - forgo rest for extended periods of time with little to no ill effects - or possess a resistance bordering on complete immunity to any and all physical attacks And those are just the abilities these characters have listed that aren't ridiculously OP by themselves, such as transforming into beings of pure energy or traveling through freaking time. Assuming that the story team went with a set consisting of the less powerful abilities, they'd still mostly be able to counter beings possessing the elements of Sonics, Psionics, Lightning, and potentially Light and Fire (possibly also Plasma) due to being able to directly cease their heat. Killing or simply defeating them at all would also be quite the accomplishment, considering they'd rarely tire, would constantly be surrounded by a near infinite source of power to absorb, and could simply accelerate their own healing in the event that they were even damaged at all in the first place as well. In short, this would require some serious nerfing just to be considered for canon purposes, and even more so for an actual game based off of the Bionicle lore at large.
  8. IC: Torc - Gym Feeling the weapon shred his torso to bits as the metal continued to tear itself apart, Torc forced himself to endure the agony as his mind raced, trying to plan out his next move as a guttural hiss escaped his throat. It's just the suit. On the upside, he had, at least, partially succeeded, and the sword likely wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. It's just... the suit. On the downside, that was part of the problem. It's just... the suit... Watching his hands start to tremble as his vision began to fade, he knew he had to act quickly before the last of his strength disappeared. It's just... the... oh, screw it... Catching a glimpse of his opponent's otherwise still occupied hands complete their excrutiating task, Torc simply let himself slump forward, the tips of his blades burying themselves in the sand as he appeared to have passed out... only to strike a moment later when it was least expected. With one arm, he reached around their side, hand still faintly throbbing from the blow that had nearly turned it into swiss cheese, and attempted to drive the first blade through their lower back, fully expecting to end up impaling himself in the process should it have even successfully landed in the first place. As for it's twin, he quickly raised that in the air as well, immediately plunging it down towards the spot where Kraata case met shoulder blades in an effort to stab at the other suit's spinal column and hopefully disrupt its ability to operate completely. Mutually... assured... destruction... And then, for a split second, he felt their temperature begin to decrease as he inevitably lost consciousness and fell towards the platform.
  9. Whatever. Forget I even typed her up, then. I've lost interest in continuing this discussion. It's become rather obvious that we're just not going to end up on the same page here.
  10. Actually, my two main concerns here were diversity and ethics. Taking into consideration said list of previously approved modifications, we now have many more body types running around than just the standard vanilla Rahkshi suit, which, seeing as to how we're currently in the Discussion Topic for an RPG based around the fictional concept of killer slugs operating mechs, is probably as close as we're going to get to the different body types displayed in humans IRL. And since I would sincerely hope that we're all mature enough to not single out an actual living person for having what we as individuals may or may not ignorantly perceive to be the "wrong" body type, the same should realistically apply to any hypothetical gaming approval processes as well, soley based on principle alone. Then again, this is the internet, so chances are that the previous statement might not actually apply to everyone. Aside from the drill itself, with her second set of arms tucked away and her body balanced in an upright position, mind you, Torment doesn't appear to be too far outside the "normal" appearance of the typical Rahkshi, so I fail to see how she even violates the precedent enough to warrant it being brought up in the first place. I'm having a hard time seeing it as an issue to begin with, seeing as to how this game's based on a fictional universe where people can apparently levitate soley by creating some hot air and where mostly everyone of importance lives inside of a giant robot that can travel through space. Oh come on Flabbergaster was totally sensical *watches Flubberbutter flop around in disturbing fashion* ... If I still had any faith left in humanity as a species, seeing this would've successfully caused it to evaporate. A+ for effort, though.
  11. @Sergei: Well, like I said before, she doesn't have access to Flight Mode, but the drill isn't exactly as versatile as a standard set of legs, either. Normally, when bipedal beings perform kicks, they usually only lash out with one while using the other to maintain their balance. In her case, however, unless she was supporting the entirety of her weight with her hands (a scenario in which she wouldn't feasibly have access to her other weapons), the only ways she could really do so with it would be if she was trying to fall directly on top of her opponent from above or if she was attempting something similar to a missile dropkick, which would leave herself vulnerable to attack if she missed and require her to release whatever she was holding in order to push herself back into the upright position again anyway. Plus, bending over to pick it back up again without falling onto her own face would be an absolute nightmare; not so much in the gym, obviously, but literally everywhere else outside of it. From a combat perspective, it's not exactly the most effective weapon in her arsenal, as its use is limited at best. @Scorp: Copius amounts of leaning and swaying, forwards, backwards, and side-to-side. Also, the tip isn't nearly acute enough to actually start piercing through denser surfaces under her own body weight alone. It'd kick up dirt and hurt if she fell on someone, but would also require a lot more time to do anything besides causing sparks against solid rock.
  12. Okay. It's been a while but I have some thoughts on this now. Predictably, my concerns are mostly toward her modifications. One, why does she have them in the first place? I tentatively assume her Makuta made them to replace her missing limbs, but why would he do that? If it was a punishment, it seems like a pretty bizarre one. Second, in continually powering this drill to remain upright, I would expect her to tire rapidly - how does she cope with this? Last, each arm can split once into two for an overall maximum of four, correct? (This seems likely, but it's a little bit ambiguous and I want to be sure.) Aside than that, I think Torment looks good. It seems that I'll have to go back and add more within the profile itself, but I'll try to clarify this as best as I can. As stated back in Misery's Bio, their Makuta was essentially obsessed with turning his Rahkshi into the perfect killing machines, and as such, letting one of his offspring waste away without a means to defend themselves or carry out his orders would be simply unacceptable. The additional modifications were originally intended to be less of a punishment for her causing the deaths of her other siblings, since he's still technically in the dark about that, and more along the lines of a very cruel joke at her expense (hence the lack of Flight Mode), mostly due to her superiority complex and her overall jealousy of everyone who is currently surpassed her. So basically, it's sort of a "If you were so good to begin with, then why did I have to fix you in the first place, let alone modify your suit to make you better?" type of situation. Concerning the drill, by "control its rotation via mental command," I really only ever intended for her to be able to manipulate the speed in which it was moving, and whether or not it was actually moving at all. Otherwise, it's set up so that it spins automatically and independently from the rest of her suit once on, so the only real issue she'd have to contend with is maintaining her balance in order to move and remain upright. I'm also assuming that it would also have some sort of miniature recharging device within the interior so that its power source automatically starts to replenish itself whenever she enters a state of rest, but if that's too much, just let me know. And yeah, she essentially starts off with two rather bulky arms that can split apart and become four normal ones.
  13. The peeps who were involved in the first stage of the Amulets Questline have also been waiting for stuff for some time now as well.
  14. In addition to what Nato said, keep in mind that just because your freshly minted character is new to the game itself, that doesn't necessarily mean they absolutely have to arrive at Corpus within the confines of their first post IC; back when Wyrd was still active, it was also perfectly acceptable to pretend the newbies were simply biding their time in the background and learning the ropes beforehand, so the location in which they debut (within reason, of course - setting your opening post on Malebranche or Visorak is obviously not going to fly) can essentially be anywhere you ultimately want to put them. Rail started off inside the gym, only to wind up fighting Xara within a few posts, Venom's was in the Dorms, and Liar (the Dodge Rahk, not Rail's disguise) has been lurking around for quite some time before he even went near the Cauldron to repaint himself, just to name a few.
  15. Changed Torment's variation to Density Control. Other than that, I believe I'm ready to finally have her looked at.
  16. No, not maybe. It doesn't matter if they "make something new with it", its still illegal and none of you should really be praising these people for what they've done. With all due respect, by that logic, Bionicle G1 would've likely ended shortly after the Maori Controversy, Lego would've probably had to file for bankruptcy, and none of us would even be here (fifteen years later) having this discussion at all. Just saying.
  17. I'm actually still debating on whether she should be either Limited Invulnerability or Density Control, which would tie in with her character even further, considering how these two are the variations that are essentially the polar opposite of (Misery's) Teleportation. Hopefully, I'll have a final decision by the end of the day. Until then, however, the rest of the profile is still up for review.
  18. So... I know we sort of agreed to hold off on submitting our own profiles for a while, but we should probably work this out sooner rather than later, since we are still players, after all, and this issue was likely to pop up again at some point anyway. Seeing as to how I'm one of the Substitute GMs, and as such, self-approving one of my own characters would be a conflict of interest, I'm thinking we might be better off if we just replaced my vote with some input from everyone else, and see how things go from there. With that out of the way, here's Torment, the second (and final) member of The Agony Sisters. Feel free to tear into it as you see fit, people. Name: Torment Variation: Density Control Level: 2 Gender: Female Gear: Two Flailed Morningstars and a large, two-handed Warhammer Appearance: Torment's armor retains her original black and green coloring, standard for those of her variation, along with some additional gunmetal thrown into the mix, as she has no love for the art of subtlety. From her torso up, she has the appearance of an otherwise completely unmodified Rahkshi; her Kraata case still rests between her shoulders, providing her with the signature hunch found in the rest of her species, and her organic body is more or less the same as the day she was born, aside from some severe scarring streaking from her head to about halfway down to her tail. Her suit's limbs, on the other hand, are an entirely different story. From the waist down, where her legs should be, is a massive drill, which is almost always constantly spinning like a top in an effort to keep her upright and has its mechanisms wired into her suit's spinal column, allowing her to control its rotation (though she can only accelerate up to roughly the equivalent of an average sprint) via mental command. Despite being originally designed for transportation purposes only, and as such, is rather awkward and clumsy to try to attack others outright with it, she finds herself experiencing great satisfaction on the rare occasions when she is able to go airborne and actually successfully manages to land on people, which helps her cope with the fact that she can no longer enter Flight Mode. While her arms appear to be abnormally large at first glance, causing some to believe that their additional mass is to help her maintain a better semblance of balance, their true purpose is actually far more sinister. Each appendage, specially forged from the same material as the drill and the rest of her upper body, has the ability to split itself in two, revealing extra limbs with which she can use to both attack and defend, primarily by swinging around said Morningstars, provided that she isn't already using them to enhance the strength of the blows from her Warhammer. On the off-chance that she does become unbalanced, however, they can also be utilised as an alternate method of transportation, allowing her to quickly scurry around most surfaces in a similar manner to that of an insect or an arachnid, which is even more unsettling to watch than most people realise. Personality: Before receiving her modifications, Torment's personality was one of jealousy and hatred. Now, however, she only exists to cause suffering in others, mostly by personally reducing them to little more than a bloody pulp littered in the scrap that once belonged to their armor. Bio: Created by the same Makuta as her sister, Misery, Torment had only one goal, and that was to be the best combatant amongst all of her siblings. Unfortunately, life didn't go as she had planned, and she would eventually grow to despise them as their skills began surpassing her own. Deciding that enough was enough, she started to purposely cripple her sparring partners after her losses, which led to a decent number of them backing out of matches due to fearing what she would potentially do to them, and thus allowing her to advance well beyond the status that she actually deserved. While initially amused with her outbursts, her father soon grew tired of them as he was forced to constantly repair the damage she had caused, so arriving at the conclusion that it was finally time to take her ego down a notch, he placed her in a match against his actual top student, who just so happened to be Misery herself. And she schooled her royally. Despite Torment's failed attempt to snap her in half afterwards, it was decided completely against their will that the two of them would be paired up together, mostly in the hopes of some of the former's skill rubbing off on the latter. Instead, this only served to fuel her feelings of rage, now entirely focused on a singular target; Misery, the physical embodiment of everything she, in fact, wasn't. Instead of actually learning anything, she soon found herself plotting her sibling's demise, eventually breaking into her father's armory as her envy devolved into mindless insanity and rigging the entire mess hall with explosives just to be rid of her once and for all. Yet again, however, the hand of fate found itself intervening in her schemes, and after accidentally knocking over the heatstone she had planned on using to set them all off, she ended up killing off everyone else from her batch instead while grievously injuring herself in the process. Luckily (or unluckily, depending on how you look at things), aside from losing all four limbs, a piece of shrapnel tore its way through both her faceplate and Kraata case, causing severe brain damage and effectively lobotomising her to the point where she had no recollection of her ambitions or the incident itself, which simultaneously spared her from her father's wrath and turned her into the sadistic brute we know today. Deep down, though, she just knows that there's a reason why she secretly despises Misery, aside from the fact that their father ordered her to keep Torment in line during their stay at Corpus Rahkshi, but she simply can't figure out what it is for the life of her.
  19. IC: Torc - Gym Seeing no other options as to how he should proceed, Torc simply released his hold on the sword, growling as he rushed forward, letting the spikes tear through his armor. Figuring that his sudden momentum, along with the knowledge that someone putting all their strength into a thrust should likely lurch towards their target when the counterforce keeping them at bay suddenly disappears, would bring him way too close to the weapon's wielder for it to maintain any of its effectiveness, he lunged towards his opponent, slashing at their wrists with one of his sizzling blades as he threw his other superheated fist directly at their face.
  20. This is so being added to Verulas' list of various nicknames and titles, despite the fact that he's barely ever operated it at all. Knowing his luck, the car would likely get about halfway across the Tren Krom Break before the line would snap and dump all of its passengers into the lava below, so it's probably a good thing that we have Kain around to help ferry people over into Ta-Wahi.
  21. Apparently, Nilkuu wasn't as widely known for his role as the Protector of Earth either. R.I.P. Korgot. That mask recolor (silver and trans-blue) on Kivoda is interesting, as is the fact that whatever knock-off company making these at least put some effort into changing up their builds. Giving them all gearboxes instead of just keeping one aside for Ekimu was a nice touch as well. The choice for Vizuna to have Thornax Launchers and Zamor Spheres seems a little odd from a cohesion standpoint, though, considering that everyone else uses Stud Launchers.
  22. Nice! I sort of have a love/hate relationship with people posting their stuff in here. On one hand, I get to look at all of these amazing MoCs, but on the other, they keep reminding me that the only Corpus character of my own that's built so far is Misery, and that the camera on my tablet totally sucks.
  23. IC: Verulas (Spectre) - Ga-Koro (Streets) Slipping into a cluster of nearby people while doing his absolute best not to bump into any of them and give away his position, the mercenary calmly walked outside, traveling in such a manner that the shadows of the other beings would, for the most part, eclipse his own in an effort to hide himself from view. Sure, there was nothing he could do about the area in which it was connected to his feet, but between the panicked bodies moving around and the mist still pouring out of the doorway, anyone still attempting to find him would find it extremely difficult to even pick up on that in the first place. Noticing that his group was taking him towards the entrance to a nearby alleyway, he briefly looked backwards, and, upon noticing that his movements were still being concealed by the the mass of flesh still pouring its way out of the tavern, quickly proceeded to duck inside. Seconds later, and he was on the rooftops, leaping from building to building before eventually pressing himself up against one of the structures and hiding himself from view. While not initially pleased that he was forced to rely on the same tactic so soon after reentering the village, he highly doubted that the Skakdi (or anyone else, for that matter) was able to pick up his trail, so the plan for the moment was to simply watch and wait until this all blew over, or at least until the cover of night, before making his way back towards the docks and trying to exit the Koro once again. Hopefully, the next job won't require so much cloak-and-dagger theatrics. This is really starting to get tiresome.
  24. IC: Misery - Refectory Misery just sat there and said nothing, rolling her eyes as she waited for the others to finally stop distracting her from the fight.
  25. I thought it was in the gym.
