  1. Imagine the black as gray and orange, and Number 2 looks like it would be right at home with the Rahi of the Master Builder Set. I'm a fan of the old Technic Rahi sets, and Number 2 earned my vote. 6 was good, too.
  2. Based on the short snippet of video that you included on the Brickipedia page (around 3:30, if anyone's wondering), it seems likely that there's nothing of interest inside the box aside from the six included sets. Obviously, it's totally up to you whether you want to open it or leave it sealed, but I don't think opening it would provide any clues towards the existence of an Akamai box set. It would be nice, though, to be able to see all six sides of the box's exterior; perhaps some of the fine print could be a lead.
  3. Huh. I'd never known of this particular set before, and there don't seem to be many online records related to this set. It's not even listed on Brickipedia, which seems to have a rather exhaustive list of various Bionicle set collections. Once you receive the set, perhaps its packaging or an included insert could reveal further details regarding whether a Tahu-Onua-Pohatu box set ever existed.
  4. In addition to what's been said, it could be nice to get photos of the backs of the Bionicle boxes if they feature any comics, combiner models, or set functions that aren't immediately apparent.
  5. A nice update all around. I really like the expanded art of Umarak, with the united Toa in the labyrinth in the background, and the creature bios are interesting, too. It's a bit odd to me that the Build section is gone, though. The instructions still don't seem to be uploaded yet for every set in the customer support section (Umarak's are missing), but I don't think that's the reason why the Build section is gone.
  6. This seems like a pretty neat polybag. I like the patterns on the cloth. Hopefully it's more like the Hero Pack than the Villain Pack, in terms of availability.
  7. Thanks for the review. Terak looks pretty great to me. The function looks nice, although I think it would've been cool for his arms to move in opposite directions (like Onua Mata). It would be hard to fit all the required Technic bits in the back to make that happen, though (at least, if you want to preserve the aesthetics). I'm a bit surprised that the crystal add-ons are blended to trans-clear, instead of trans-purple, but maybe that'll make them more versatile. The Nuva symbol on the top of the box is a cool touch, too.
  8. Always good to see this updated. Thanks for working on it! I wonder if the creature heads are going to be considered heads or masks in-story... Also, it might be worth trying to find a better image of the Gold Skull Mask. It looks almost gunmetal on the right side of the current image.
  9. I'm a pretty big fan of Technic builds, so I think these sets look great! Can't wait to build some of them. It seems a bit odd to me that some masks (e.g. Tahu's) just have the corresponding Toa's Nuva symbol, while others (e.g. Lewa's) have extra runes, but it's not a huge deal or anything. Also, I love Lewa's torso print design, and pretty much all the united forms look pretty cool.
  10. Even though we've seen it before, I've got to say, I love that image of the great forge with the Mask Maker statues. It calls to mind the time when the two brothers still worked together.
  11. As I've said elsewhere, great find! When I have time with my sets, I'm definitely going to try to make photo instructions for #4, as I've already built the model, and I'm pretty sure it's accurate (as far as we can tell from the lone photo). I'm reasonable certain I'll be able to build both models of #3, but I don't know if I'll be able to reconstruct the torso of #2 without help; any volunteers? Also, I've (finally) added these models into the Google Doc. Last chance for the iOS Onua + PoE instructions or maybe a new Skull Villain combiner is probably coming up in a couple days in the Nov-Dec Club magazine, though I can't say I have high hopes. Otherwise, we'll probably want to try to make our own instructions for Onua + PoE.
  12. An account for what? The site where the instructions photo was posted? Yes. If you use Chrome, auto-translate the page, and look for "Log In" or "Sign In" buttons, you'll probably find a way to create an account. Odds are you'll need an e-mail or something, but that's probably it. On a more on-topic note, I built the Tahu Nuva + Kohrak-Kal model. I'll probably make photo instructions eventually. The feet are really rickety, but it's neat how the Hau Nuva is like a helmet for the Krana face. I'd say it was worth it to build it.
  13. Yeah, we should really see if we can just contact the guy who had the Korean Piraka (Thok, Vezok, Reidak) set and see if he can upload the instructions. Any problems foreseeable with doing that? Language barrier could be an issue, unless somebody here knows Korean (which I assume is what that page is written in). I can't quite tell if the site is just one guy's blog, or more of a community, but the site still seems semi-active (judging by the Skull Creature banner), which is at least a little promising. It's worth a shot. Google Translate won't suffice? Because that'd be understandable. I don't know, a message with words like "Bionicle", "Piraka", and "combiner" would probably get butchered pretty badly by Google Translate. Well they look okay here: https://translate.google.com/#auto/en/BIONICLE%0APiraka%0ACombiner I think if we included the message in both English and translated Japanese/Korean, with a lot of pictures to try to illustrate the point, that would probably have the best chance of success. You want to give it a try? I would. How easy is it to make an account? Do you need a phone number or something? An account for what? The site where the instructions photo was posted?
  14. We've got Nuva symbols on the left, six unfamiliar identical symbols on the right, a humanoid with wings front and center, and five empty squares below. I think the five squares are where we're supposed to unscramble the five letters hidden in previous animations, which would mean that this image would be labeled "UNITY."

  18. So THAT'S where those models came from! I'd seen them before, both when you mentioned them before and in a couple compilation Brickshelf galleries, but I never imagined that Lego had previously hosted them on Bionicle.com. I think I'll try to build a couple of them when I have access to my sets. Great research, and great find! It's things like this that make me sad that most of BZP's forum archives have been lost to the ages (and MoD's, too, I think). We're rediscovering these little pieces of history that probably weren't that obscure back in the day, but pretty much everyone left in the Bionicle fandom has forgotten these details, and the records of those older days just aren't there anymore. What's next? I'm thinking that the next new tidbit will come if anyone ever purchases and opens one of the 2003 Kabaya Matoran, and we can get a good scan of its instructions. And I'm holding out hope that somewhere, a digital copy of the Vezok-Thok-Reidak Korean Piraka combiner instructions exists. (Where did the Hakann-Avak-Zaktan version's instructions come from, anyway?) And who knows? There might be other hidden secrets to stumble upon. Edit: Hey, I have my Vahi now!
  19. Next LEGO Magazine comes out tomorrow, right? I hope there's some good Bionicle info in it, and maybe even a new combiner build (or instructions for the iOS Onua-Korgot combiner) if we're lucky.
  20. We do? Can you post them? Here. I made these recently, based off of a Youtube video that showed how to build it. As for my own favorite combiner, I'd probably say Wairuha for nostalgia reasons. Many of the Bohrok Va combiners (Kaita, Infernavika, Pokawi) were pretty good, too. I'd like to see what Zyglak looks like in person, but I don't own all the sets. As for the titan-composed combiners I've built, none in particular stand out to me; I sometimes just enjoy going through the building process again for a new model, regardless of the final product. The thing I don't like about the Pit War Tortoise is that you have to disassemble Ehlek, with his fragile 2007 lime green sockets. I broke a few of those pieces the one time I built that model, and it left a bad impression on me.
  21. I've added the Skull Creature combiners to the Google Doc. I still don't know what to call Warrior+Slicer+Basher... Maybe the Lego Magazine coming in a few days will have more combiner info.
  22. Whoa, I didn't notice that! Nice find! Nine letters, starts with Y... I'm calling it now, the secret message is "yesterday." There's a temporal connotation (matching the Vahi), and for extra conspiracy theory points, it's in the name of an unfinished G1 serial! Now watch the next letter be an O or something.
  23. Lots of content in this update, which is nice. Glad to see the combiner instructions up. Like the winter updates, though, the site still seems a bit rough around the edges... Onya has a new friend!
  24. I have my newest sets standing up on a shelf in my closet, in front of stacks of old G1 canisters and boxes.
  25. I finally got around to building the manga-inspired Japanese Rahkshi Combiner (built from Turahk, Guurahk, and Vorahk), using the Loosertribe video as a guide. Here's a set of photo instructions I put together: http://tinyurl.com/owyxh8f. Hopefully they're more user-friendly than trying to build based off of a video.
