  1. I just see Martha Stewart saying "Okay, today, we'll be creating a Kanohi mask of creation, just like the one celebrity Artakha wears. First, take your source of raw creation, take 1/2 cup, pour into bowl along with 3 1/2 cups of melted protodermis, stir, pour into a Kanoka mold and put it into your oven at roughly 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Wait 8 hours or until blackened."

As for the question, I see three things happening. 1). the old mask goes inert and loses color. 2). the old mask disintegrates or 3). the combined energy of both masks blows a hole in the Matoran Universe roughly the size of... well, the size of Artakha, ironically enough.

  2. IC Halyx:

"Well, excuse me, Shorty, but how exactly AM I supposed to introduce you? Guvla's the blue one, Visalk's the red one, I'm the yellow one, and you're the short one. Forgive me for your natural height deficiencies." Halyx was rather aggravated by Lumira's disdain at his adjective description of her.

  3. Alright, I get what you're saying on the rest of it. But keep in mind, my entire argument is directed towards Regitnui's use of someone else's fanon piece in S&T, where we deal with official stuff, is not entirely appropriate. That's the point I was trying to get across from the beginning.

    3. You’re begging the question here: Is 10k a “very small number”? We have zero knowledge about the population-size of non-Matoran species in the MU, so Matoran could easily constitute the general population. And regardless, the fact remains that non-Matoran species may be the exception that proves the rule: Non-Matoran species don’t require Kanohi, but Matoran do. Kanohi were clearly created with a function related to Matoran (and Toa, Turaga). Without Matoran, there would be no purpose for Kanohi (powerless Kanohi, at least). As for your ideas about the Matoran ego…this is an example of baseless speculation. For all we know, Metru Nui and the other -Nui islands could’ve been named by the Great Beings. Not relevant.

I take it you never paid attention to the Official GregF Dialogue back on the old forums, then. Because that was a topic of discussion, and Greg did, as my memory serves, confirm that the Matoran have a bit of an ego in that regard. (Or, at least, in his opinion, they did :shrugs: )

Many times, the Nui isn't referring to how great (awesome, cool, amazeballs) something is, but rather the vastness (a city that is great in size, a long voyage, a vast ocean, etc. etc.) We don't call it the "Great Depression" because it was pretty neat, or the "Great War" because we all liked it.

While GregF is the head writer, that doesn't mean he can't be wrong about canon. The story team probably meant it differently, or it could be by a case-by-case basis.

  4. IC Halyx:

Halyx looked at the Toa of Electricity, wondering. "You can't touch the water? Shocking. Here, let me help you. It's so simple, an Ussal crab could do it." Halyx took the canteen from Baku and bent down to fill it, then handed it back to it's owner. "So, I'm Halyx, that's Visalk, over there is Guvla, and the short one is Lumira. What's your name?"

    OOC:

I really didn't want to mention it, Grimlock, but I've noticed you've had a few grammar hiccups. Namely "Please your a Ga-Toa can you fill this please?" It should be "Please, you're a Ga-Toa. Can you fill this please?" Also, you've spelled canteen cantina, not to mentio-

WARNING. GRAMMAR NAZISM INCOMING. BRACE FOR IMPACT. BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES. WEAPONS TO MAXIMUM. EVASIVE MANUEVERS. MILITARY THRUST.

  5. IC Halyx:

"Well," Halyx muttered, "we have two options. We can either look around here, or we can head north to Ko-Wahi. What do you think, guys?" Halyx's attention was diverted when he noticed the Toa of Electricity. "Guvla? Do you know her?"

    OOC:

Do you think there are any Toa of Ice in the Wahi?

  6. --HALYX HAS ARRIVED IN GA-WAHI, OPEN FOR INTERACTION--

    IC Halyx:

"Well, it's been a long trek, but here we are!" Halyx's feet were sore from the long walk from Ta-Koro, but at last, here they were, ready to begin the hunt for the four other Toa they would need to find to fill the Toa Voya. "Where should we start?"

    OOC:

What elements should these Toa be? I'm thinking we should aim to get a Toa of Ice, then Earth, then Stone, then finally Air.

I still like the idea of Lumira becoming a Toa but it's still Emissary's decision, I could always plop up a Toa of Air on the fly. I have a design in LDD I can use. Or, we get another person in on this. We'll iron out those thorny details once we get around to finding the Toa of Air.

  7. IC Halyx:

"Yeah... Come on, guys, it'll be a bit before we reach Ga-Koro... "

    OOC:

Exactly like Boba Fett, but with a dark and angsty backstory. So, exactly like Boba Fett.

Also, this is the last post I'm making in Ta-Wahi, because

--HALYX HAS LEFT TA-WAHI FOR GA-WAHI--

My next post will be in Ga-Wahi, skipping ahead to when we reach Ga-Koro. Halyx'll see you there.

  8.

So for us humans, kanohi translates as “mask”, but for a Matoran, it might translate more accurately as “something that sustains energy”.

This speaks for itself. And it makes very little sense when we consider that other beings, like Axonn, can use Kanohi, but it does not sustain them, rendering that redefinition invalid when you take the entirety of the story into perspective. This was done with some other official terms, as well. In other words, you redefined the words to fit your dictionary, rather than changing your dictionary to fit the definitions. Make sense?

Actually, he said specifically for a Matoran, it might translate to something different. He didn't say for a... whatever Axonn is, nor did he say for a resident of the MU, he specifically said Matoran.

This actually makes sense in the context of the movies, if you-

    *boo! you suck, Icarus!*

Hear me out. In the movies (and I think in the comics and books, too) they always say Kanohi mask. Never just Kanohi, no, they tack on the "mask" to the end. At first, I thought it was just so that the audience would learn what a Kanohi is, but now I'm thinking it's because Kanohi doesn't actually mean "mask", but rather is an adjective that describes this particular type of mask.

  9. IC Halyx:

"Look, guys, I'm guessing whoever I used to be, I made a few enemies. I'd say we should try and keep a low-profile, keep our Toa search on the down-low."

    OOC:

Honestly, Jorik is only here for two reasons; 1). to serve as "that guy who's always chasing us" and 2). to test what would happen when a Sanok goes against a Calix.

  10. You know what'd be nice? If we had a team of linguists build a Matoran language. Not just one person, but an entire think tank, working together with a legal team, to create a completely "canon" Matoran dictionary. Tolkien has a pretty good effort, but I feel the dictionary has a few problems (I can't seem to find the actual words for "island," "tale" or "story.")

As for the actual mask names, I always thought the Mask of Creation should be named something -au, like Kau, Tau, Mau, Nau, Gau, something like that, or the Kanohi Artakha, or even something like the Kanohi Velika or something named for a Great Being.

  11. IC Halyx:

Halyx ran out the door, following after his compatriots. "Hurry! Get to cover! Call the guards!"

He saw a green and grey figure running across the rooftops of the Koro, with a sort of rifle in one hand. He saw the figure take flight with his jetpack, flying towards the group, taking aim with his rifle.

    "GET DOWN!"

    IC Jorik:

Jorik fired his laser rifle at the red and yellow Toa of Fire, though a sudden gust of wind caused him to only graze the Toa. Cursing under his breath, he tried to take aim again, but even with his mask power, he was unable to aim at any of his targets before they got to cover.

"Come on, little bullet sponges... Come to papa..."

Jorik decided to take flight and head to Le-Wahi. If his intel was correct, then these guys would be looping west around the island. He could catch them in Le-Wahi before they got any further.

    ---JORIK HAS LEFT TA-WAHI---

    IC Halyx:

"Brother, Sisters, I think he left... We should probably head to Ga-Wahi instead. If he heard our conversation, he's probably heading towards Le-Wahi. If we change course, we might lose him."

  12. IC:

"Sure. Le-Wahi it is." Halyx had wondered if Lumira was truly committed, or if he could trust her, but he didn't really have a choice in the matter. The Toa Voya were his surest bet if he wanted to figure out his identity. "As for you, Lumira, you think I like being a Toa? I have to bend over to fit through these doors. But, the Great Spirit willed it to be so, so I'm going along with it. If he wants you to become a Toa, then a Toa you'll be. If he doesn't, then you won't. It's catch-22."

As Halyx headed for the door, he noticed a small red dot on Visalk's Huna.  Realizing it was a laser sight, Halyx jumped into action. His mask activated, revealing it to be a Great Calix. His physical abilities amplified, he pulled Visalk to the floor just before a sort of beam came through the nearby window.

"Get down! Assassin!" Halyx stood just next to the window, close enough to the wall that no one could aim at him.

    OOC:

I'll be posting the profile for the assassin soon. Also, can Lumira be a female? I thought Le-Matoran were all male.

  13.

IC:"Well," Halyx said, "I say that me and Lumira head for Le-Wahi while you and Guvla head for Ga-Wahi and we circle back around till we both hit the Onu-Wahi/Ko-Wahi border. How does that sound?"

OOC:Time to fuel the old plot engine. Also, what do you mean by triple-checking posts?

    IC: Visalk

"Why don't we meet up in Onu-koro. Guvla and I wil take Ga-Wahi and Ko-Wahi.

OoC: It was because I looked back at some of my posts and notice how may grammar errors and words were omitted.

    IC:

"We could all just go together. Circle around westward to Le-Wahi, through Po, Onu and Ko-Wahi till we hit Ga-Wahi. Hey, Lumira, you there? He looks like he's just staring off into the distance." Halyx waved his arm in front of Lumira, to no avail.

    OOC:

    Where is he?

  14. IC:

"Well," Halyx said, "I say that me and Lumira head for Le-Wahi while you and Guvla head for Ga-Wahi and we circle back around till we both hit the Onu-Wahi/Ko-Wahi border. How does that sound?"

    OOC:

Time to fuel the old plot engine. Also, what do you mean by triple-checking posts?

  15. I have two sprite requests. Here's the first

    Sprite style: Rayg

    Primary color: Black

    Secondary color: Metru Red

    Mask: Hydraxon's mask

    Mask color: Black

    Eye color: Blue

    Body build: Toa Metru

Cape and or Feather/Bat wings: Nope

Weapon: Mata Nui's sword from the movie

The other one, I would like the same thing, but the black replaced with Metru Red and the red replaced with orange

  16. IC: Guvla

Guvla grumbled something under her breath and finally said "Fine I'll join your little group. But keep in mind I will leave if I don't feel the necessity to stay."

    IC: Visalk

"Has anyone ever told you your a bad liar, Halyx? I have no objection to being leader. However what shall we call our team?"

    IC:

"Well... We're going on a journey, and Voya is Matoran for "journey," so how's Toa Voya?" Halyx was incredibly disappointed he wasn't made leader, but soon got over it.

    OOC:

Cursed Visalk! Foiled again! Still, Toa Voya is a rather nice name, I think.

Certainly a better choice than Toa Inika. Looking at you, 2006!

  17. IC:

"Well," Halyx said, "What's the worst that could happen?" Halyx looked around the room, hoping to rally support. "Of course, we'll need a leader. So... I could do it. I mean, if no one else wants to... I don't really WANT to, but if I must... "

    OOC:

    Halyx: World's worst liar.

  18. I have a theory about that. The Pit is kinda like the Warehouse from Warehouse 13; it's always moving, typically wherever the center of power is. In this case, the Pit follows the Mask of Life. After it started it's countdown, the Pit stopped following the mask, and the Pit was destroyed during the awakening of Mata Nui. I suppose the Order has to put the Pit somewhere else, like wherever the ocean is on Spherus Magna.

  19. A lot of the time, I'll see users who have little rotating masks next a little bar under their post count. Sometimes, above that bar, I'll see a bunch of outlines of Rahaga and Rahkshi and things like that, with some of them filled in. What are these and how do I get one?

EDIT: Also, how do I change that little title under my profile pic?

  20. IC:

"We have no reason to assume it's not us." Halyx wondered if he could really trust this Toa of Water. "Plus, come on, we're Toa! Heroes of legend! We have to have some sort of destiny. Maybe it's being on this team together. If you won't go, me, Visalk and Lumira will go without you. Right, brothers?"

    OOC:

The plot, like my gravy, thickens.
