I dropped out of Bionicle at that point because the builds were so uninteresting and repetitive, the same thing every year with new armor and masks attached. I like the new 2015 sets mainly because I never got into Hero Factory and CCBS is new to me, not to mention the gear system making things interesting. Hopefully next year they try something new too.

Nah, that was a little over the line on the 'too edgy' meter for me. Kind of like the soundtrack for Sonic Adventure 2.

Its a little more complex than that and ties in with the plot very nicely. I'd encourage you watch it to find out.

Yeah if theres just a book and those micro shorts for the story I'll be sorely dissapointed. That would be less than what even Hero Factory got.

I've been kind of trying to ignore it, but... can we stop calling him PoS? That usually stands for... something else... that I can't really spell out on BZP. Yeah, I was very confused when I first read people saying "I really like the PoS"

Anyone else having a problem with Onua's gear system? Sometimes it gets locked up when turning the knob and wont move. I think its because theres so much friction due to the ball joint being used for friction.

2002 would have been better if the Toa Nuva's mask designs werent so ugly. Seriously. Those masks were not good.

Dissapointed those are actually the names of the sets, stuff like 'Skull Warrior' is so generic. I get they'll have different names in the canon but still.

What are those shoulder pads from? Are they included in any cheap sets or would my best bet to get them be bricklink?

Forgive me for my ignorance but are there any G1 bionicle head pieces that attach to ball joints? Most of them I can think of attach to sockets so you wouldn't be able to easily attach Takanuva's normal mask onto this guy in a MOC.

I feel like Tahu is the most poseable out of all the toa. His awesome swords and the ninja blades on his back really make for some dynamic poses.

Getting the new Bionicle sets reminds me of my childhood. Even though I'm 20, I still get giddy and have fun posing them the same way I did when I was 7 back in 2001.

How easy is it to do non-humanoid shapes with strictly only-CCBS mocs? I'd try out some stuff but I'd imagine the heavy use of balljoints and the CCBS torso limits your options

If I ever do a MOC of the new sets it'll be when they upload the Bionicle 2015 parts on Lego Digital Designer (If they ever do that)

Nope, the connection bar on the skull spiders is the same size as the standard connection bars used for minifigure hands and clips. So anything that can connect to a minifigure hand can connect to the skull spider legs. Lots of potential for mocing.

As others have said, a mix is best. Assuming we're talking about bionicle styled technic. One of the problems G1 bionicle sets had was they were littered with holes and pistons everywhere, which kind of made them look ugly. Detail is fine, but then there's too much. Not to mention many of these pieces were heavily specialized and really could only be used on robotic things. CCBS provides streamlined parts that can be used with anything, although it makes for a very repetitive and extremely quick and easy build. Combining both of these can make something really special. I feel like the 2015 Toa do this very well with the gearboxes, although it could still be improved upon even more with more bionicle styled shells (without overdoing it) and a little more variety between the builds. Onua is a great example of the variety I'm talking about. Maybe next year the new Toa could have a different type of torso, maybe more technic oriented, than the generic CCBS torso/chest shell that returned again this year.

Since I last posted in this thread I got Tahu, Onua, Kopaka, and Gali from the 2015 line. I'm not going to dissasemble any of these for MOCing as I already felt depressed that I lost so many of my old bionicles due to pretty much tearing down all of them for MOCs. If I wanna make a MOC i'm just going to do it in Lego Digital Designer and maybe bricklink all the parts if I want to have it in real life.

Honestly, when comparing G2 bionicle to Hero factory they aren't much different at all to me. The story seems to be pretty on par with Hero Factory judging from the first five shorts we've had + character shorts and, while I vastly prefer the new Bionicles sets to anything Hero Factory put out, they're still very similar. But yeah, G1 bionicle is in a completley different leauge in terms of story and the overal mechanical style of G1 definitley separates it from Hero Factory in terms of set design. Hopefully as time goes on and the characters (again, hopefully) get fleshed out, that will change.

Yeah, the only adrenalin mode I don't like for posing is Tahu's, his posing is kind of limited when his legs are on the lavaboard. Well, I have this pose but I don't think that's what you're looking for. Thats pretty cool! I havent tried posing my toa in scenes against each other, might try to make some cool ones later.

Just curious, how many people were usually on BZpower's in 06-08? Right now as of this post theres 130 people currently browsing the forums simultaneously. Back then, if anyone remembers, was there like 500? 1000?

Just got Gali. Anyone got any good poses for her? Pictures would be nice. I'm having a hard time coming up with some since her trident is like almost twice as tall as her. You're supposed to bend his neck over horizontally so that his head is hunched over, that covers up the gap and makes the neck not look awkward too. The instructions don't show this though since they don't show the adjusted poses, but all the official pictures of Onua have his head hunched over.

So since I already got all the large sets then I should start with Gali for the medium sized toa according to this poll?
