*comes out of hibernation/lurk mode*

Almost exactly five years ago, I started watching Episode 1 of MLP:FiM. It's been a long time since then and lots of things have changed, but I'm glad to still be a fan.

In the past five years, I've put together numerous song covers, was a part of multiple voice-acted projects (which were unfortunately scrapped D:), made a lot of friends in the fandom (and still regularly do so), and even attended two conventions (and after this weekend, three!). It's not the biggest part of my life, but it's a lot of positivity and friendship that I'm thankful to have.

I was going to try to do something special for my annual song cover this year, but unfortunately the flu kind of wiped me out all month, so I haven't had enough time to record anything. I know only a handful of you ever hear my
, but I still plan to hopefully maybe possibly put something new together within the next month or two. Nothing concrete's been decided, so if you have a song you'd like me to do, I welcome ideas!
For now though, I'm especially looking forward to Whinny City Ponycon this weekend, the first brony convention in the Chicago area since (the extremely fantastic and memorable) Midwestria in 2012! You can expect an entry on that soon.

Update: I'm home! 'Twas fun meeting you, Captain Marvel!

Hey guys, I'll leave this entry short and sweet since I'm typing it from my tablet.

So, how many of you would you like the opportunity to MEET ME in REAL LIFE at Brickworld tomorrow?!

*crickets*

...No one? Eh, I'm not surprised. But hey, I'd still like to meet any of you who might be there!

I and my brothers can be found at Brickworld Chicago all day tomorrow during the public hours! I'll be wearing one of these dark green BZPower shirts (Thanks again, Bionicle Raptor!), a backpack, and maybe I'll also have some sort of name badge with "Avohkah Tamer" on it (if I can manage to throw one together before heading out the door tomorrow morning). If you spot me walking around snapping photos of literally every MOC, feel absolutely free to stop me and say hi!

I hope to see you there!

Or specifically, the fourth anniversary of the night I started the show and became a fan!

I know I made and posted my annual song cover a few weeks early, but I'm really glad I did, because two days later I came down with an awful and persistent cold that's even still affecting my voice.

Anyways, not a whole lot of new stuff to talk about this year, since season 4 ended shortly after my last anniversary entry, and the fandom has seemingly gone into a bit of a hibernation during this insane 329-day break (not counting EqG: RR) before Season 5 starts this Saturday. Even still, meetups have been awesome, fan-created creative works are higher quality than ever, I've definitely made some good new friends in the past year, and I'm really looking forward to what this this next year will bring. I'm even hoping to attend Bronycon this year if possible, since for once it doesn't conflict with the Brickfair VA weekend!

Oh, also, if you haven't already seen my song cover mentioned above (of "You'll Play Your Part"),
It's only gotten a handful of views so far, and I'm really proud of it.

Wow, has it really been since the 9th that I last blogged? I need moar ideaz...

For now, at least, Laughin'Man posed a good question chatting with me the other night. Anyone care to theorize on this quite interesting point?

Comment away!

I'm BAAAAACK!

That's right, A couple days ago, I bought me a LIFETIME PREMIER MEMBERSHIP.

Now you may be thinking "It's about TIME...", or you may be thinking "Who in the world is this guy?", but it all comes down to this:

I again have access to a blog with which to spread my insanity and randomness as far as I can reach! And I can feel happy knowing I'm supporting my favorite site ever!

MUFFINS FOR EVERYPONY!

Today (March 1st) marks the second annual Derpy Hooves Day!

In honor of everyone's favorite mailpony, feel free to eat a muffin, mail somepony a friendly letter, watch some My Little Pony, mail somepony a friendly muffin, eat a letter, or whatever other Derpy-related activities you can think of!

>Posts entry asking specifically for video game or pony-related pumpkin carving ideas
>Gets suggestions for Pumpkinception, MSPA, BIONICLE, Ninjago, and Doctor Who series 5

Well, at any rate, I found a design! Some of the details were extremely difficult, because my brothers somehow managed to break all of our pumpkin carving tools on their pumpkins, so all I had to work with was a dull steak knife and a small screwdriver.

All things considered, I think it turned out pretty darn great:

As I'm sure many, many, MANY people are doing, I'm posting a "HAPPY NEW YEAR" entry! ...Well, except for one thing. I'm not talking about 2009. I'm talking about a mystery year you shall NEVER KNOW. AHAHAHAHA.

Also, Laughin'Man brought to my attention a spam e-mail claiming to be from Bill Gates. I'm here to tell you it absolutely cannot be from Bill. You see, he's my buddy, and I should know, he doesn't talk like that in his e-mails! Here's a good example of one of the many e-mails he's sent me.

Now, obviously he's a good-natured guy who likes to joke around and stuff. He's not some internet newbie who thinks the Nigerian Prince scam will save him from some minor loss in the stock market. I won't let my good friend Bill get insulted like that.

Oh yeah, he really didn't give me a couple million bucks. Really! *hides wallet*

I just installed Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on my HP Touchpad tablet, while keeping the default Palm WebOS intact so I can choose which OS I want to boot when I turn it on. It's so awesome~

Examples of some stuff I can do now:
Minecraft
Netflix
Google Earth
Steam Mobile (<3)
Other fun Android things

So yeah, fun stuff.

Also ponies tomorrow!

Hoo, boy. I guess I owe you guys an explanation for not having blogged since August.

...

ANYWAYS, life's been good. Working full-time for my dad's been great, I gots loads of cash. Which I haven't been spending. Yeah.

So I plan to remedy that by buying myself a $900 gaming laptop with Windows 7 that came out yesterday (which is veeeeery nice, can't wait until I buy it)! I also want to buy myself an XBox 360 Elite sometime, now that they've come down in price so much.

So what else is new? I got Scribblenauts. It is win. Get it. NOW. 2,000+ wordlist containing many, many memes makes me happy. Heck, Laughin'Man and I spent an hour or two yesterday just playing with the various memes on our games!

Also, I made myself a new, totally original signoff that I will most likely probably hopefully use! You may or may not have seen it yet. It's based off a signature idea I had for the BS01 Wiki back in 2007. Now this signoff is very, very unnecessarily complicated. And I coded it myself, by hand, no shortcuts.

So, behold... MY SIGNOFF!
~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

And now behold... THE CODING BEHIND IT!

~ ([sup]A V[/sup][sub]T[/sub][sup]O[/sup][sub]A[/sub][sup]H[/sup][sub]M[/sub][sup]K[/sup][sub]E[/sub][sup]A[/sup][sub]R[/sub][sup]H[/sup])If you want to use something similar for yourself, please give me credit for the idea. Thanks!
What do you think?

As for what I'll be blogging about in the future:
A blog approval. I need to make one. Or pay off someone to make one. Also, I had this idea to blog a series of four humorous spam e-mails I got, one per week. Hopefully that will keep me blogging this time. =P

And if I don't, bug me until I blog.

Until next time,

Lately, I've seen a good number of BZPower members complaining about some members' recent banners, and some disabling all signatures or even leaving BZP temporarily because they don't want to see them. There's no need! Since I didn't see any existing guides already, here's my tutorial on how to use Adblock Plus to block online ads and other images!

You've probably seen some members mention the Adblock Plus browser extension before, but you may not know what it is or how it works. This add-on (available for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome) makes blocking online advertisements dead simple, and has the added bonus of being able to block any additional images you tell it to!

First-off, I should make it clear that this extension is not available for Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, or other browsers. There may be similar solutions for them, but this guide only covers Firefox and Chrome, which are both excellent browsers you should consider trying out if you have not already done so. Assuming you've got one of those browsers, let's move on.

Step 1: Installing Adblock Plus
"Where do I get this wonderful thing?", you may ask. Well, unfortunately, pretty much every web page you can install it from has a link to a forum or an unmoderated comment section, which makes it against the rules for me to link to. Instead, I'll put some direct links to the downloads right here! (Note: for best results, click one of the following links in its respective browser so it will start the installation automatically.)

Install Adblock Plus for Firefox (DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK)
Install Adblock Plus for Google Chrome (DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK)
When the installation is done, your browser may need to be restarted (depending on which one you're using).

Step 2: Blocking Ads!
Once it's done, it will ask you for a "Filter Subscription". This is basically an automatically updated list of common ads it will block. Assuming you're in an English-speaking country, I would recommend you choose the "Easylist (English)". Add that subscription, and that's it! 99% of ads you'd normally run into online are now blocked! Easy, huh?

Step 3: Blocking Images
Now that your browsing is virtually ad-free, you can get to blocking any other images you'd like to hide. This could be an advertisement the Easylist missed, or a BZPower banner you would rather not see.

Right click the image you'd like to block. In Firefox, click "Adblock Plus: Block Image..."

Now here's the tricky part. In Firefox, the window that pops up will look really complicated and intimidating with all the options. By default, it will select the second option, which is to block all the images from the folder it's in. That would be a good choice for ads, but if you did that on a banner, it would block all of the user's images on majhost in that folder. Instead, you'll want to select the top option, which should be the full deeplinked URL.
Here's an example:

Google Chrome's is a lot easier. In Chrome, right click the image and click "Block Element". Simply make sure the URL in the box is the direct deeplink to the image, and hit Add.
Here's an example:

Quick note: if you block a Premier Member's uploaded avatar as well, it will stay blocked even when they change it because the URL remains the same.
And that's it! If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Completely, entirely insane. Clinically insane.

Why, you may ask?

Gaze upon my awesomeness!

Yes, that is what it appears to be. No, it is not 'shopped. Just an extremely good sale at my local Wal-Mart.

Oh, yeah, if any of you were planning to steal some, don't bother. I've got the perfect defense system activated and guarding them. Behold my Lazorcat Defense System!

EDIT: Hey, well whaddayaknow? I found another Axalara not pictured here just in the other room. Go figure! =P

This is my testing having a Blog for the next week. If I like it enough, I may buy Premier! I don't have much time to post right now, and I may or may not post multiple entries per day.

Hmm, I guess this lair isn't so secret anymore. Oh, well! Anyhoo, my hobby is to tame various kinds of Rahi, hence my name changes on BZP. I've of course got a "lair" for me and my pets, and I've decided to open it up to BZP members for the next week!

Well, today I'm actually headed off to Six Flags with my church youth group for the whole day. It'll be the first time I've gone there since I was, like, six years old, but I think I'll enjoy my time there very much. I might take a bunch of pictures, and if so, I'll try to get them up on Maj Majhost.com either tonight if I can get on, or tomorrow. As for right now, though, I'd probably better go and get ready, they're due to show up at my house to pick me up in a little less than an hour and I'm not ready! =O

As some of you may know, I try to carve a geeky/video-game related/pony Jack-o'-Lantern every year for Halloween.

The problem is, tomorrow is Halloween, and I still haven't picked out a pattern to carve this year! Anyone have any ideas?

I don't have any particularly nice tools (just cheap plastic saws from dollar store kits), and I'd prefer not to have any shaved/thinned parts as I found out they don't light up well with just a candle inside. I'd like to do another pony-themed pattern this year, but video game ideas are fine too.

Examples from the past few years (Click the images for larger):

2009 - Half-Life 2 (Click for a mock-up of how this pattern looks lit-up)

2010 - Portal 2 (Particularly proud of this one, designed the pattern myself)

2011 - Mare in the Moon

I'll slightly recap what I did yesterday, as I didn't do an evening Blog post as I had planned. Yesterday I had some fun talking with Laughin'Kitty (Laughin'Man), -Legolas- (DudeNuva), and RC-1344 Tor (Torhuki) about our future plans in the MMO Pirates of the Caribbean Online. It was the first time I and LM had Tor in our instant messaging buddy lists yesterday, but we all had a fun time.

As for today, I actually plan to run out the door and hopefully get to see The Dark Knight any minute now. Hooray!

Last time I tried (last Saturday), they were actually sold out of all tickets for IMAX and regular 35 mm for the next couple days (IMAX for the next 5 days after then...). According to my theater's website they are not sold out, but I'll just have to hope that's true, as they said the same thing last time.

Well, if I don't go now I may be late, so I'll hit the road now! I'll try to post an entry of how the movie was when I get back.

I just bought every one of the Series 6 minifigs in one shopping trip, without a cheat sheet and without getting any doubles/extras!

I swear, they must have had like 8-10 minotaurs in that end-cap display.

No photos unless you guys really want 'em, because I'm lazy and don't feel like digging around for my camera right now. =P
17. Avohkah Tamer
Jeez, Johnny, I'm two feet away. You don't need to yell.

Anyone here remember playing this on Lego.com way back in the day? Crazy to think it was over 10 years ago since it launched; less than a year after Bionicle started!

Several fond memories:
That one guy with the pointless three-question movie trivia
Running around delivering coffee to the movie crew
Spotting Takua in the Commissary (!!)
Being a stunt double, jumping across crocodiles
Falling off catwalks
ALL THE GLITCHES

So yeah. Good times.

Oh yeah, and guess what?

IT'S STILL PLAYABLE. WHY, LEGO, WHYYY???

Protips:
- If the first area is all glitched out and invisible for you, resize the window and it should fix it.
- Never hit the Escape key, it freezes the game.
- Hold Z to run (So much better than walking everywhere!)
- If you played a long time ago, your save file probably still works! Try logging in and hitting Continue.

(Entry title shamelessly stolen from LM's blog)

Michelle Creber (Voice of Apple Bloom from MLP!) recently held a Guess The Song contest on a social networking site, and I won second place!

That's right, Apple Bloom just said I rock.

Oh, and the song was "Saturday Night" by the Bay City Rollers.

Image is a little warped-looking because this is actually a photo from my cell phone, not a scanner.

Today marked the kick-off of the first Chicago-area brony convention, Midwestria 2012!

Holy crud. It's been amazing so far. Despite the fact that I only got to arrive pretty late in the evening, due to my job.

It's about 3:30 AM right now so I'll just recap a couple things and then go to bed.

MLP:FiM writers M.A. Larson, Amy Keating Rogers, and Cindy Morrow are in attendance, and just kind of hanging out with everyone
Not a lot of custom merch, unfortunately, but I'm sure I'll end up with at least one plushie and hat by the end of the con
Both M.A. Larson and Amy Keating Rogers participated in karaoke. Multiple times. They're pretty good singers!
Hangin' out around Final Draft and Joe Stevens of Everfree Radio
M.A. Larson randomly started talking to me, and challenged me to go up and sing an MLP song on stage. (Tomorrow, since the karaoke queue was full tonight)
Sweet Celestia, M.A. Larson himself is challenging me to sing karaoke (which I have never done in my life) of a Pony song.
He also wants me to sing one of Amy Keating Rogers' songs, like Smile or At The Gala, so she can hear it because she will be there.
Went to a rave. Like an actual rave. WITH GLOWSTICKS. AND LASERS. It was dubsteppy and pretty fun, though tiring.
Hung out with a bunch of my local brony friends afterwards and we hung out and played card games until 2 AM
oh my gosh there are still two days left of this

So yeah.

I'm going to bed now so I can get up early and spend THE ENTIRE DAY at the con tomorrow.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
