Matoran Universe vs the Axis powers
Sir Keksalot replied to Alexander123's topic in Bionicle Discussion
No, OP's just trying to set up another power battle; I just don't think he thought it through and realized that maybe it's not a great idea to pit the MU against Hitler. I can see this devolving into a flame war about Nazis all too easily. It may be wise to close this thread before we get there. -
LEGO and Nintendo Finally Team Up
Sir Keksalot replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
Well, they finally revealed it...and it sucks. Mario's just a giant electronic block, and the set's basically a board game with not much in the way of new parts. Not impressed. Just making Mario a generic electronic toy seems to defeat the whole point of Lego. -
On a Discord server, I saw a guy make this claim: For context, I posted a video about Voriki and people asked who he was, and I don't believe that this is where he came from--we all know he was a hoax--but I'm curious where this information comes from. Is it legit, or just a load of nonsense?

Your Rotten Tomatoes Score for HF?
Sir Keksalot replied to Lenny7092's topic in Hero Factory Discussion
Rotten Tomatoes is absolute trash, so I'm not rating it at all. Film criticism shouldn't be boiled down to percentage ratings in the first place. -
I think it's just saying it might be used once about every 5k years under normal circumstances. There's a lot of weird lines in Bionicle that betray scrapped story directions, but I'm not so sure that this is one of 'em.

Adult employees at Lego had to sit down and design sets for the bleedin' Minions. They had to design Lego Gru without his nose. Think about that the next time you feel like your job is useless.

BIONICLE Lego Ideas project discussion
Sir Keksalot replied to Lenny7092's topic in Bionicle Discussion
Coulda sworn we had a topic for Sokoda's project, but whatever. That submission is old news, and it's the only good idea that'll actually have a shot. 1. This one just sucks. The proportions are all wrong, and I can't see it being reasonably-priced. 2. This will never get approved. It's just a bunch of bog-standard Mata revamps that require pieces Lego doesn't use anymore. 3. Bionicle deserves a better comeback than a bunch of Brickheadz. 4. Again, a fairly generic revamp that's literally impossible atm. 5. The only good thing about this one is the giant McToran head. Not only does everything else require pieces Lego can't use, but it's all pretty bad. And none of this can bring Bionicle back. There's not a whole lot to say about these subs other than they're all trash and/or impossible. Sokoda's was the only one we can really get behind. HF will get nothing for its anniversary because not nearly enough people care, including within Lego's own ranks. It's a dead theme that didn't really make much of an impact, whoop-dee-do. -
The video game motif honestly warrants its own theme. Sucks that Ninjago had to take the idea for itself.

He tagged this with #2020rebel, so I think this is less about the content of 3IO and more about RIG21 overall.

1. Lloyd missed out on being a kid. He was a kid, then bam, he's a grown man, complete with all the problems that being an adult brings. That wasn't made into a real part of his character even though it's kind of a big deal. 2. Garmadon coulda had an arc where he improves as a person and becomes normal again by his own choice, but no, we gotta have 1-dimensional characters, right?

How did LEGO create the BIONICLE animations (2001-2009)
Sir Keksalot replied to Max_Nui's topic in Bionicle Discussion
Animating an entire movie in the style of some old commercials has literally nothing to do with elevating a pixel-sprite character design to a 3D, CGI model. Bionicle would be better served as a TV show in the vein of TLA, partly because the format allows for more expansive worldbuilding and partly because Hollywood is actually horrendous. Lego most certainly won't do anything on that scale for Bionicle's anniversary, but their behavior regarding G2 suggests they want their cash cow back in due course; it'll likely be a good while before they make their move, certainly no sooner than the eventual death of Ninjago, which can't come soon enough but will absolutely take some time.- 9 replies

Toy Fair 2020: Trolls World Tour
Sir Keksalot replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
Well, there's some unique parts, and there's parts in colors we don't see a lot...that's it. That's literally the only good thing I can say about this. Not quite as cursed as those bleedin' Minions, but I still feel a little dead inside looking at these. -
No, those aren't the ones. They're a custom part for sure, but not these.
-
They're a custom part; I believe they're on Shapeways.
-
There is now one (1) acceptable humanized Bonk.

I say chalk it up to bad writing and call it a day.

Would be nice to finally get designs for major characters like Lariska and Artakha, who are very much a part of the narrative in a big way yet don't have any canon designs, having never been sets or combiners. It sure is odd how a toy-based franchise has so many characters that have never gotten toys... Absolutely NONE of that is within the scope of what we just learned can be made possible via contests, nor is any of it a particularly good idea. Let G1 stay in the past, let G2 rest, and leave HF well alone, ESPECIALLY with that crossover nonsense.

bionicle Why do Ta-matorans make masks?
Sir Keksalot replied to StinkyBadger's topic in Bionicle Discussion
I always assumed it was because Ta-Matoran like heat, which is needed for smithing, so it was just a natural progression from the environments they like. What...is this post?
