  1. I liked this one. I personally love matoran characters, and I love seeing matoran heroes all the more. It's one of the reasons I loved 2006 so much. ^^This was actually the title in the contest that I feared the most. I'm not too good with action sequences myself and I prefer internal conflicts. I really loved the first paragraph to this. It was very descriptive and really set a nice tone. That really helped when you got to describing the war that broke out among the matoran and bohrok. The one thing I don't like so much is the descriptions of the battling. I mean, I like how you're showing us how the matoran are fighting, but for whatever reason I didn't find it to be as exciting as the descriptive style in the beginning. I enjoyed Kopaka's mentality, and you really brought it full circle at the end. The only thing that struck me as odd was that Kopaka mentioned the Matoran (ko-matoran) might prefer to be left alone as he is left alone, yet the matoran were unified with another koro. Of course, I see this as a double-meaning. The matoran unified amongst themselves as Kopaka found commonality among his own element (and I really like that angle). I wish that could be hinted at a little more, but that's still what I got from this story (I'm not sure if that's what you were going for though. ^^')Overall, I did enjoy this story a lot! Good luck! ^^
  2. Death in a story? My mind immediately moves to Beowulf. Well, that and the ghost of Christmas yet to come (even if he wasn't technically death, he was still very much in tune with that mentality, I thought).Hmm... Normally I leave those things (forces of nature) to symbolism as opposed to personification. Though, personification is still interesting.Anyway, I mentioned this topic to a friend of mine elsewhere. She said it's helped her get out of a few problems she's had with writing so far. Not really a subject for discussion, but I thought it was noteworthy. ^^

  3. Hmm... You know, I've heard nothing but good things from Past Sins... That's just too creepy. Let's reflect: I'm actually considering reading a fanfiction (not a canon story, mind you) about girly ponies that has been called heartwarmingly adorable and nearly brings people to tears... ......Sounds fun! =DAnyway, I didn't see Derpy in the new episode, but I heard she was supposed to be a chicken or something? I kept my eyes out for her, but I didn't catch her... =/ Was she really in it?And that is why Twilight could never be RainbowDash's pet. XDEdit: Nevermind! I saw Derpy. XD She only appears for a second, so that's why I missed her.

  4. Hewkii and Kongu as a couple? That would make the ugliest kissing banner ever!

Pfft, what are you talking about? The Suletu, man. ^///^ XDD Though, I'm not a fan of Hewkii's mask at all... Glad that changed as a Mahri. (Though, Kongu should have kept the Suletu... I mean, he should have just kept his Inika form in general)Back on topic -cough-Yeah, I agree with you there, Alyska. Nikila is actually a character I'm very curious about. I know she was good friends with Lessovik, I know she was good with tactics... I know little else, yet her character still appeals to me. I'd love to see more of her (and it would help me loads with a project I'm working on. XP).I don't really remember a Nidhiki/Lariska moment. Do you remember the book/story it's from by any chance?
  5. "Tenacity!""Gesundheit"XD, I liked this episode. ^^RainbowDash finally got her own episode and even though it pretty much highlighted why I didn't like her character, it also showed a bit of development. Plus, Tank ended up being awesome at the very end. XD Seriously, who wouldn't want a pet like that? ^^
  6. Interesting story. I like how you took Takanuva and made him go crazy. The biggest issue I have with that is it seems really out of character for Takanuva to just go around blasting his friends like that. I thought it would be more along the lines of he was malfunctioning/scarred from his accident instead of being brainwashed by the mask. Still, this was suspenseful and you certainly got my attention in the beginning. Good luck in the contest! ^^
  7. It's a shame there's been a delay with the release. I'm glad to hear nothing was lost with that virus, Tohkann. Something like that just happened to me recently and it wasn't fun. >.<Good luck with everything, guys! And don't worry, I'm sure we can wait a little longer. ^^ (And now I really want to draw Sonia... XD).

  8. Ooh! Macku and Hewkii teaming up would be cool! Heck, having the chronicler's company teaming up with their corresponding toa sounds cool- oh wait... Kopkeke... Ehh... sorry dude.. Anyway, still trying to get the imagery of Hewkii and Kongu out of my head before I fall in love with the pairing and start shipping it (Kongu had better be wary of Macku XD), but you're right. They really didn't have much chemistry going on in the books. I wonder if that was just to shy away from the elephant in the room of "OMG, Jaller + Hahli = romance" expectation that the fans had? It's kinda sad. =/ I say the kohli match in the first movie is canon. XDAnd I agree; Helryx was a very good character. I still can't believe she was fighting to destroy the entire universe just to bring Teridax down.

  9. I'd say later in the story when the Chronicler's Company reunites and finds Tuyet would help with that. Also, that's why I chose sunrise and sunset as themes here. The sunrise is supposed to be a dawn of a new day, that life keeps moving forward and that there is hope. I know it doesn't seem like a lot and it isn't really a happy ending, but I wanted to leave that a bit open. I guess I just like bittersweet endings best. ^^;I'm glad you could relate! That's how I wanted readers to react, on a basic level at least. Thanks a lot for commenting! ^^
  10. Aww, thanks! ^^ I actually just posted it after just a little tweaking. XD There's a link in my signature. And it's alright to be biased towards Hahli. She is awesome. XPThough, I wouldn't say it's happily ever after for Hahli. After all they are toa, and they just dealt with a casualty on the team. It probably would be a story about the fear of not only the mortality of oneself, but the mortality of those you care about. How attachment could lead to great suffering and that maybe, just maybe it's better to be alone. Of course, Matoro didn't seem to have too many friends himself (conversing in a different language with that crazy Turaga. XP) and the entire reason that the Mahri survived was because of their friendship. So, that would probably play a point in there too. ... Sorry, I love to think things out. XD It actually sounds like a promising story. If only romance was canon in the Bionicle universe... =/ I digress... XD
  11. If a Universe Ends

What would happen if everything just… ended? Macku was taken aback. She had been gazing into the endless sands of Po-Wahi at sunset, the purple and pink hue was painted across the sky. It was quiet with a slight breeze whispering in her ear as she sat on a stone fence just outside of the village. She looked to her left at her companion. "What do you mean?" The ga-matoran asked softly, a puzzled expression danced across her face. "I mean… There have been so many attacks lately. Our villages are really struggling, and with you coming here from Ga-Koro-" Macku cut her companion off. "Hewkii, I'm fine. I've traveled here a thousand times before and it will sure take a lot to stop me from making the next thousand trips." She spoke proudly. Hewkii couldn't help but grin at her confidence. It was nice to hear stability in a time of such uncertainty. Even the Turaga seemed on-edge with the recent waves of rahi attacks. But his happy expression would not last. "… I know…" he muttered, "but suppose something happens. What if the rahi are too powerful? What if The Makuta wins? What if-" Hewkii stopped himself. Macku almost seemed afraid from such talk. He decided to change the topic to his kohli practice. Before long the sun had set and Macku had to return to her home in Ga-Koro. On her way home, she could still hear his unspoken words in her head. What if their universe came to an end? After the sun had risen the following day, the villagers would find that six toa had appeared and the island of Mata Nui would never be the same. Macku looked back on this memory with a small, silent chuckle. She thought back to her home; the blue waves playfully rolling over the white sand beach, the chimes of birds in the nearby forest, the fish and wildlife that filled the vast, vast sea… It all made her heart break. Hewkii had grown far stronger since then. He'd gained more confidence and had even aided the toa at the Kini-nui. Macku had been happy for him… her best friend on the island. It was very late at night. Macku could hardly sleep, try as she might. Eventually, she gave up with a heavy sigh and pulled out a light stone from a bag. Her room was downtrodden. Cracks lined the walls as well as eerie green webs. Dust was still littering the nooks and crannies and a leak came down from the ceiling. It was her first night in Metru Nui. There was still a lot of work to be done. One day turned into two. Two days turned into a week. The week stepped aside for the next, which in turn slowly moved to make room for the week after that. As time moved forward, Macku slowly started to sleep more and more each night it seemed. There was still a lot of work to be done, but Macku was sure that the matoran would be able to restore the city to what it once was. After all, this had been her home once, even if everything was alien to her now. And besides, her friends were still here, in Metru Nui. The next day, it ended. Hahli wasn't found in her home. A small group of matoran set out to search for her. Eventually Turaga Nokama was notified. As it turned out, six matoran and Toa Takanuva had gone missing. The matoran gone were Jaller, Hahli, Nuparu, Matoro, Kongu… and Hewkii. He'd left without saying goodbye. Macku couldn't sleep that night. Tossing and turning in her bed, she finally gave up quietly. She took out a light stone from her bag and the room lit to show a cleaner room. There were still cracks on the walls and a few specks of dust in the corners, but Macku didn't pay her hard work much mind. Instead she found herself walking, and then running silently out of Ga-Metru. She didn't have a boat, but she still continued forward, faster and faster. She didn't know how much time had passed. All she could think was just to keep moving… keep moving away from Ga-Metru. Eventually she stopped. She was at Po-Metru. It was true; nothing had stopped Macku from making this trip. Thinking back to those times, when her friend was right next to her… To think those days could be over. To think those days were over… she couldn't take it. She collapsed on her knees, her arms holding her torso up. Macku began to shake, tears streaming from her eyes. She wished… she just wished that he could still be here… Her friend… If a universe ends, what is left? A hand rested on her shoulder. A jolt in her heart-light, she turned around to see a familiar lime green Rau. "Macku? Are you alright?" Tamaru, an old friend, appeared. His vertigo had proven to be too much of a hassle in Le-Metru, so he had been sent around the city doing various tasks on the ground. He tried to give a small smile to cheer her up. Macku wiped the area around her eyes and picked herself up. "I… I'll be alright… I'll be… alright." She said slowly as she regained her composure. Tamaru looked at her, his eyes concerned. After what seemed a long while, he gave Macku a small, understanding nod. He took a look around the city; the towers of Po-Metru reminded him of trees in the Le-Koro jungle. "Come on, the sun is rising. We'd better get to work." He said calmly. Macku gave a smile to her friend and nodded.

  12. Does anyone besides me wish Macku had a more prominent role in later story development? I mean, obviously, Hahli is my favorite, but Macku was such a great personality - feisty and sad, tough and gentle all at once. My siblings and I actually built Ga-koro entirely out of construction paper, tape, and pipe cleaners just to use our home-made Hahli and Macku. (no, I'm not kidding. It was seriously cool. Sadly, it got destroyed when our basement flooded)

Yes. Just yes. Macku is one of my favorite matoran (as there aren't too many main matoran characters left to pick seeing as half of them turned into toa. XD). I actually just wrote my entry for Short Story Contest 8 about her. I'm not sure if I got her character right... but it was fun to do. ^^ (I haven't posted it yet, by the way. Still deciding if I want to tweak it yet).I was so disappointed that Hewkii and Macku were not a canon couple (same with Jaller and Hahli) Seriously, that would make a great comparison story. Hahli ends up with Jaller while Macku loses Hewkii when he becomes a toa. Even if the relationship isn't romantic, it still makes for an interesting set-up (and that's kinda what my entry is about. XD It's not that romantic, though. I decided to shy away from the relationship demographic). And that model sounds cool! I've always wondered what it would be like to build a scale replica of Mata Nui. ^^
  13. Titles? Normally I think of the story/chapter first and then do the title second. Like, with my epic, I thought a lot about what I wanted my story to be and what characters I wanted to go on what journey. The setting helped me loads, also I thought of popular sayings (or forgotten sayings that were once popular) and then I looked for something that might give a bit of a double meaning or something that just fit with what I had on paper (err... word document. XD). Though, with the short story contest that's going on, I have to do the exact opposite. It's a bit of a challenge, but I like what I have so far. ^^Kraggh, that's actually a cool idea! I've thought a little about what my characters would do in situations I find in a TV show or a book, but I haven't gone too far into that mentality. I might have to try that sometime. ^^

  14. Oh, I've noticed the same thing, Alyska. Actually, that's kinda personal to me (I'm a brony, though I actually haven't been made fun of for liking it yet. XD But there's more to why it's personal to me). I like to think of Marten Luther King Jr's words a lot when it comes to equality. To judge someone based on the content of their character as opposed to their outward characteristics (Okay, that's the short version. I could ramble on forever about this. XD). So, I try to go by character first and foremost. And communicating through text on a forum site really helps (as I have no idea what anyone looks like and I have to place a little trust in them, yet still be smart about things, etc). And this topic is about the girls, so I'm fine with sticking to that subject. ^^ Like I said, I can be aware of the differences in people, and as the original topic said, boys and girls are indeed different (and it's a good thing). After all, what's the world without differences? It's a boring grey blob. XDHmm... You know, I think some of my favorite characters in Bionicle are female. Roodaka, Lariska, Hahli, Macku, Gali, etc. Of course I still love Tamaru, Lewa, Kongu, Jaller, etc. Still, the female characters seem to be just a little more memorable in general. Maybe it's because they were scarce and that made them a little more unique? Or it could have been because they were just plain epic. Can't decide. XD
  15. Yeah, but she's a Vortix. I'm talking about Toa and Matoran for the most part... Though, Roodaka is my favorite movie villain (great voice actor, fun character. XD).Though, I do like using female characters, Bionicle and elsewhere. I have one right now that's a Matoran of Lightning. I'm trying to stay true to the elemental personalities that characters seem to have, so I'm trying to make her be very short tempered and quick to act. Unfortunately my readers think she just hates the world entirely. XD Though, she still needs to go under some development, so I'm not too worried about it. I gotta say, as far as villains go, Roodaka and Lariska have been my favorites, just because of their poisonous personalities and the fact that they're schemers who appear to have their own agendas outside of their masters. Roodaka being a double agent and Lariska declaring that she shall kill The Shadowed One... right to his face (or if memory serves correctly. It's been a while since I've read the stories. XP). They're actually far more memorable than Teridax in most stories, than the Barraki, Bohrok, Rahkshi, Bahrag, etc. I just think they're awesome. XD
  16. I like to assume that the males of her species look exactly the same as the females. That would really mess with the fans.

Best idea ever! XDBut, this topic looks interesting. I'm normally not into these types of things (I'm more about equality and all that... But, I still can appreciate differences between people -it just seems kinda ditzy and ignorant to just pretend everyone is a giant grey blob. XD-)One thing that kinda annoys me is all of the blue in BIONICLE female characters. Water = Blue, Lightning = Blue and white, Psionics = Blue and Gold ... Does female just = blue for toa and matoran? =/ I'd love to see a different base color.
  17. I'm still not planning to read cupcakes.

Don't do it! It's scary! -sends Mr. Scruffy the teddy bear and Lewa Mata outside to defend the pillow fort-I was later saddened to discover I do not actually have a teddy bear named Mr. Scruffy... So I sent Tahu instead. XD

Tekulo, that's a funny way to spell Fluttershy. XD

This is exactly the reason why I love everyone here. XD Though, Fluttershy is also one of my top favorites. ^^
