  1. If you're flying you should definitely find a way to get it in your checked baggage. I mean, it maybe shouldn't be a problem, but it's not something I'd risk.

Actually I'm taking a Megabus from Toronto. They only allow one piece of luggage no bigger than 62 inches overall, and one carry-on bag no bigger than a briefcase. Both of those are full, and neither are really big enough to hold the mask. ._.

  2. I think it should be good, but don't quote me on that.

I'm actually kicking myself a bit now, since apparently I could have contacted the border information center basically anytime yesterday, but they're closed entirely on weekends, and I have to leave tomorrow evening. >-<

  3. So after years and years of making 8 bit remixes with premade midis, I finally took the plunge and transcribed something myself, by ear. I never really thought I was very good at this, so I'm actually kinda proud of the fact that it only took me a few hours from start to finish, even if it is relatively simplistic as my remixes go. (I did Through The Fire and Flames once. xD)

Hope you guys like it. Given how surprisingly easy it was, I may just end up doing more. If a few go well, I'll make another album for my Bandcamp! ^-^

  4. Alright, so a number of you may remember a few months ago when I posted about my custom forged life sized bronze Vahi. Well I'm planning to visit my boyfriend in the states this weekend, and we might be attending Brickfair (Virginia). As such, I would like to bring the Vahi with me, but I'm nervous that in crossing from Canada into the US, the border guards might give me trouble. I don't have room in my two allowed pieces of luggage to hold it, so I'd likely have to wear it as I usually do, like a pauldron:

So I guess my question then is, do you think I'll be okay crossing the border with this, or would they try and say it is, or could be used as a weapon?

  5. Aw man, so we may not get a Pohatu, Gali, or Lewa combo? That kind of sucks. :(

Well considering the nature of the game, LEGO could always decide to push an update, but judging by the fact that the PC version removes the alt swap buttons entirely, I'm guessing they've just given up.

  6.

That would be kind of sad if we only got combo models for Tahu, Kopaka and Onua.

Ah, don't forget that the Mask of Creation game has a combo model button on every Toa select screen (although most are greyed-out).

It wouldn't impress fans if LEGO just removed some of those buttons later, so LEGO luckily seem to have committed to (eventually) revealing a combo model for each Toa. :)

Actually, again, do it doesn't. Not unless LEGO decides to push an update anyways. However, judging by the fact that the PC version removes the alt swap buttons entirely, I'm guessing they've just given up.

Well I've been spending the evening sifting through the assets in Unity. I have good news, and bad. The good news is that Onua and Kopaka's alts are both in the PC version, (they appear to be using more Protector parts on their models than seem to render in game. >.>) I also found Tahu's alt, and though from what I can see, it is indeed the Club exclusive combiner, either my assets are very incomplete, or so is the model.

That brings me to the BAD news. As far as the other three Toa are concerned, the game doesn't actually contain the alts at all. The models for the combiners are actually completely different assets within the game. Where the normal Toa just start with a folder tree labeled after their name, the combiners are categorized under (TOA NAME)_Exclusive, which simply do not exist for Lewa, Gali and Pohatu.

I imagine at some point the game will be updated with those models, but for the moment, I think it's pretty safe to give up hope of unlocking them ourselves. Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but for the most part, this mystery is now solved.

EDIT: Screenshots. Again, pretty sure my asset bundles are somehow incomplete, but this is the best I have at the moment.

  7.

Anyone else see the sunken dragon hunting Kopaka?

Perhaps the ice elemental from Lomn has come back for revenge, after all these years...

Where did you guys see that?

I assume they meant the half textured platform in my above post. :P

  9. Wow, vahkiti, it's been so long I didn't think I'd ever see this printed much less turned into a full blown metal mask! It looks absolutely incredible. You and your friend did a fantastic job, and I can see a ton of effort went into this. Glad I could be a part of something this cool, I only wish I could see it in person! XD

Ohai! Thanks for the kind words! Good to hear from you again btw. I figured once it hit front page, it was only a matter of time until you stumbled on it. :P

  10. So a few years ago, I came up with a pretty solid method of adapting the Toa Nuva to move much like they do in Mask of Light, while retaining most or all of their original parts, and leaving very little out of place to the casual observer. Now I have begun to apply that same concept to the Mata.

Due to their differing construction, Pohatu, Onua, Lewa, and Kopaka had to be adapted in more noticeable ways, and were a lot more difficult to do so. Any suggestions on how to better that would be appreciated. Also uh.. don't mind the yellow Hau. I still need to order my red one off Bricklink or something. xD

  11. Due to unfortunate back problems that I have been dealing with since about 2008, I don't build near as much as I used to. However lately, I have begun to streamline my creative process into things that I can use around the house or other places. Things that I otherwise would have to spend money on to purchase in a much less interesting, and less adaptable form. That being said, I present to you some of my recent creations.

And since I went out for a bit of an upgrade since that last build, the DS4 to smartphone adapter:

This unfortunately is all I have so far. Any creative criticism and further ideas for more such items would be greatly appreciated however! ^-^

  12. Vakama would be jealous.

This is simply amazing, Vahkiti. It looks like you and everyone involved did a fascinating job.

Even if you can't wear the bronze version very well, you ought to have the plastic one on your face at all times. You are, after all, the Time Guardian.

And say - any sort of progress with MNOLG: CE? Or is that shelved for now?

Heh, well I actually have been tempted to try out the plastic one as a windbreaker. It's a cold, cold winter up here, and I'll take what protection I can get. Besides, it gives me sort of a Winter Soldier look if worn correctly. xD

MNOLG: CE is for the moment, shelved, yes, however we're still exploring possibilities for continuing the project in the future. We have already hired a new composer who, while also quite busy right now, is.. shall we say, very well known within the community.

EDIT: Just noticed this has made front page news! Awesome! ^-^

  13. He just made this off of a 3D model? Dang, I need to do the same!

This is quite impressive, your friend is a real smith. He should make old warfare armor, people pay big bucks for that.

Prior to making this, he did actually make a really large pauldron for himself. I'll get you some pictures of that if he agrees. He doesn't have an account here unfortunately.

Wow... Just one question... Is it a display only piece or can it be worn as intended?

Well yes, and no. The PLASTIC version can be worn, (as seen in my display picture prior to painting) and in fact was specifically modeled to fit my face based on a profile shot I sent 00dude00. The bronze one can also be worn, but because of how it was thickened from the inside for casting, it is significantly more difficult, (and less comfortable) to do so. Neither currently have any straps to hold them on, though the plastic one can be held in place with a good set of headphones or a tightened hood.

The bronze one, due to its weight, I currently wear over my shoulder at nearly all times as sort of a pauldron. It's so heavy, and combined with my spinal issues sending my right shoulder out of whack, it actually just sits there with little to no adjustment. xD

  14.

Will the game include short snippets of video as the original did?

    Like... cutscenes?

    There's no reason it wouldn't.

Since this is more of a mod of the original game than it is an entirely new one, there's no reason there would not be. That being said, due to many unforeseen circumstances, myself and the rest of the team haven't really had time to work on this in some time. We have however hired a new composer, so a remastered/remixed soundtrack is seeming more likely than initially planned. :)

  15. This is a fantastic job! A real bargain at $120 too, I've spent more than that on model sized masks and I'm not alone! How about trying a life-sized Avohkii next? I know a guy who would pay through the nose for it lol

I'd have to ask him about that one. The only reason this was so cheap is because the Vahi doesn't really have a lot of material. In fact, it probably has the least overall volume of any mask in the franchise. 00dude00 modeled another custom mask at the same time for another friend of mine, (QSKSw) and the Shapeways print alone on that would run me about $200. I unfortunately, do not have that kind of money, so unless your guy is willing to pay for it in full, it's probably not going to happen. xD

  16. This is so cool! How much did this project cost to accomplish?

The model commision cost me $20, the Shapeways print cost me $50, (+$15 for gold spraypaint) the second print, (used to make the mold for molten bronze) cost another $50, the bronze itself cost $50, and the various materials used in the forging process rounded out to I THINK about $120, but the mask maker was nice enough not to charge me for that.

  17. Well here are my long overdue submissions I guess. Sorry some of the images are a bit small, but I kinda screwed up with my camera when I took these.

Main Entry Name: Karzahk, (And Zygon? Idk if I can do that even if they're both in one image)

  18. So... what happened to the Solis Magna site?

XONAR likely wasn't able to pay for the domain this month. It happens from time to time. Rest assured, that the team is still active and well. :P

    I guess this project died? :o  :(

Not dead, just somewhat.. delayed. Due to reasons that are quite well known off site regarding NYCC, and XONAR having a lot of extra school work to attend to, while the project is still alive, I'm not certain with our limited resources, that it will get off the ground anytime soon.

The issues regarding NYCC will be explained in detail in today's episode of the BIONICLE Heroes Commentary on my group YouTube channel.
