So, yeah, been majorly ill the past couple of days. Sick as... well, a dog. As I write that, I'm wondering where that expression came from. When people use the expression 'sick as a dog', it means you were extremely ill. Do dogs have a penchant for terrible sicknesses or something? No idea.

In search for answers, I'm turning to the almighty master of information: Da Google.

Apparently, the expression was first recorded in the early eighteenth century, in what was probably nothing more than an attempt to make sure people understood that the guy he was talking about was very sick. Interestingly enough, there are various other expressions having to do with being sick as a ___, with an animal filling in the blank, but sick as a dog is the only one that has stuck around. Sick as a cat and sick as a horse have long since passed away as popular expressions.

A possibility I found for this is that the tendency of dogs to eat just about anything means that they will sooner or later come across things that disagree with them, and when they do, the results are usually tossed cookies.

I have not had the pleasure of owning a dog long enough enough to see it disgorge the contents of its stomach, but apparently the results can be quite dramatic. So it makes sense that the expression sick as a dog would apply to someone who is quite ill, and quite possibly vomiting, perhaps violently (not a pleasant image, but that was me yesterday).

So the next time someone says "Man, I was sick as a dog," you can impress them with your knowledge of English expressions. And tell them to stay out of the roadkill.

Bought a ukulele the other day. Took it on the ferry and had a blast (because what else is there to do on the ferry?). It's so fun because you can whip it out anywhere and start giving it.

Stoked on life. Ukuleles are awesome.

My chemical makeup just gained half a kilogram of music, and I already had a rather large amount there to begin with.

This is it, ladies and gentlemen! The final two names have been decided on, and let me tell you: it was an extremely close margin! Here are the four names that have been eliminated, along with their scores:

    Mushroom Exterminator - 3
    Simon - 9
    Tuna Flakes 20 - 3

The final two names had scores of 14 and 15, so it's obvious that it was a close race, with Delicious Chocolate Milk being nudged out by just one vote! I personally love the name, but the you, the voters, have spoken, and here are the final two contestants!

    Fullmetal Eyrchamist - 22

So vote for your favourite, tell your friends to vote for your favourite, and make your mom an account so she can vote for your favourite! It's going to be a close one!

Welcome back, ladies and gents, to the polls! It is now day three, and the following names have been eliminated:

    Eyru
    Eyru Salad
    Great and Powerful Eyru
    Fabulous Salmon
    A Wonderful Pistachio
    Deodorant
    Pumpernickel

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Eyru, you eliminated seven names!" That's because seven names had zero votes, and they were just taking up space. This means that, with 10 names left in the polls, tomorrow there will be 6 left, and the following day voting will take place between the two most popular names. It'll be more exciting this way, trust me!

Without further ado, the remaining contestants:

    Eyrumpelstiltskin - 1
    Delicious Chocolate Milk - 7
    Mushroom Exterminator - 3

*This name actually received one vote, but apparently IT is not an acceptable name, and would be reverted were I to use it. Thus, it is eliminated!

Welcome back, ladies and gents, to the polls for Eyru's next name!

I received a lot of submissions this time around (21, to be exact). so I've come up with a twist to the voting system. Every day, I will eliminate the bottom four names from the list, and I will repost the voting entry, allowing you to vote again!

That's right- you can vote up to five times if you vote once every day!

If more than four names have the lowest score, I will choose and eliminate at random.

Every day, the list of names will drop, from 21 to 17, to 13, to 9, to 5, and, finally, to 1, which will be the name I will use. In the unlikely event of a tie, the polls will be extended an extra day, and voting will commence between the two names with the highest number of votes.

Without further ado, here are your choices!

Today was my last day of high school.

It's hard to describe my state of mind right now. I can't quite seem to get my head around the fact that I won't be going back to school in September. I won't be hanging out with all my friends; I won't be going to classes and seeing my favourite teachers. It's all over.

Don't get me wrong- I'm so excited to have graduated. It's incredibly exciting. But at the same time, I'm swamped with memories of high school, and I'm feeling nostalgic. I'm so happy it's over, but at the same time, I don't want it to end.

Basically, I'm excited to go, but I'm sad to leave.

I'm at one of those points in my life where I'm in between two chapters, if you will. High school's behind me, and the future, in all of its bewildering glory, is ahead. Everything's changing, and it's both exciting and a little scary.

Still, it feels good. The best is yet to come.

I've plum forgotten when my Premier Membership is going to run out, so if I suddenly stop posting in my blog, now you know why.

Of course, it could happen in a day, a month, or six months- I'm not exactly sure when I purchased it. So no need to fret, dear citizens! Just be on the ready.

Now, I've had a good day. Who else has had a good day?

Nintendo's E3 presentation was everything I feared it would be, and nothing I'd hoped it would be.

    Let me explain.

Nintendo (predictably) spilled some more info on the upcoming Wii U by showing the final versions of the controller, introducing the Miiverse (the Wii U's answer to Xbox Live), and elaborating on the "asymmetrical gameplay" that's apparently going to be all the rage. They unveiled a list of games that would be available for the console, which included the Wii Sports-esque NintendoLand, Pikmin 3, ZombiU, and Assasin's Creed 3 (the latter two were actually unveiled at Ubisoft's conference, so they don't really count).

And that's all great stuff! Don't get me wrong, I'm jappy as a jalepeno to see the great games coming in the future, and I'm excited to see how the Gamepad is going to be used.

    But... where's the Zelda?

    Zelda?

    Hold me.

The time has come to put on a suit, walk across a stage, and give a speech. I'm graduating from high school today, and it's both awesome and surreal. I'm rather nervous for the speech part (I'm one of the two valedictorians), but I know it's going to rock!

Anyway, wish me luck, and maybe I'll get around to posting some snazzy pics of me in the next few days!

Oh, and look, I found an emoticon appropriate to my emotions:

I'll be a graduate the next time we chat! Later gators!

    The obsession is reawakening....

    EYRU'S AWAKENING

One day Eyru woke up on an island with a mountain There was an egg on the mountain. Eyru prompty died of happiness, and the game over screen was beautiful too.

    AN EYRU TO THE EYRU

One day Eyru woke up in the middle of the night. Eyru had just had a dream about a beautiful girl, which usually would seem weird, but his uncle said was a natural part of growing up. So Eyru turned over and went back to sleep, and Ganon ruled the world.

    EYRU'S MASK

One day, Eyru went looking for a friend. An imp wearing an odd mask turned Eyru into a little plant animal thing. Eyru spent the next three days spinning in circles, then an angry rock hit the earth .

    OCARINA OF EYRU

One day, the great Deku Tree wanted to see Eyru. He sent a fairy to give the great news. Eyru was so happy upon receiving a fairy and a summons, and promptly died of happiness, and the game over screen was beautiful too.

So I'm applying for a summer job at a somewhat-local newspaper. They have an opening for a full-time summer intern who's web-savvy, ambitious, has a strong work ethic, and has a passion for journalism.

Oh, and they require a firm grasp of English grammar and spelling. Crazy, right?

Anyway, I've applied, and I figure my chances are pretty good, seeing as not only have I been involved with my school newspaper over the past few years, but I'm also the editor of this year's yearbook (did you guys know that?). And I can write pretty well, I guess. You know, if I have to.

So I've got my fingers crossed. I sent in some articles I've written along with my résumé, and they're decent, so hopefully they get looked at. I also hope my cover letter gets read, cause man it's a thing of beauty.

Anyway, that's what's going on in Eyru-land today. Cross your fingers for me.

Now, back to writing my valedictorian speech, and maybe someday soon I can post in the BZPRPG. And maybe play Okami sometime soon?

    Plox?

    Eyru out.
