  1. OOC: X-com, SCP....just bring in the MiB while your at it. :PIC (Forum)"It must be an international effort....and I must say, I am forced to wonder what else you are hiding from the world. The amount of funding needed to found an agency such as this....and maintain it, well, that kind of money isn't thrown around for no reason. What are you hiding from us? Did you find other indications of alien life and keep them hidden from us? Or worse, find indications of something else completely and keep them hidden from us? Tell me. I would like to know." The High Councilor was not taking this surprise well. At all.
  2. IC (forum)"Famous last words. 'Sir, the enemy cannot flank us, it's impossible.' or 'Sir, aliens do not exist, it is impossible.' or my personal favorite, 'Sir, the people are weak and our guards are strong. Revolt is impossible.' I find that reality often disagree's with us poor humans when it comes to the possible. Nothing can be ruled out." The High Councilor countered.
  3. OOC: I love that game. I loves it.IC"Agreed. If these creatures have been here before, we need to know about it. Knowledge is, as always, power." The High Councilor was quite pleased his idea was finally getting some attention. The High Councilor eyed the self-appointed genetic's professor. "Yes. And managed to insult the representative of a foreign nation. Again. However unlikely it is, the possibility cannot and should not be ignored. Precautions must be taken if only for the sake of the fact that if you are wrong...which is not a leap of logic..then the cost to our entire species could be quite dire."
  4. ICThe High Councilor shrugged. "Whatever. Perhaps aliens tinkered with their genetics. It's too early to say, but I think the matter should be investigated at the very least. Look into the fossil record, see what it brings up....you do have a fossil record correct? Or have you simply shot them on sight and not done any real scientific investigation into the matter? And yes, it is still an issue. There have been recorded instances of sicknesses or parasites crossing the species barrier. If their biology is in anyway similar to ours...better safe then sorry."
  5. IC (Forum)"True. I suppose we should get back on track. I apologize. Contact with an intelligent species....should be handled carefully. Cross-contamination is something to be quite wary of...and if they are not friendly, well, I purpose, once again, an agency be created to investigate the possibility that this is not the first time aliens have visited this planet. We have the Howlers, which I maintain could have an alien origin. Perhaps, long ago, another craft crashed here and they escaped."
  6. IC (Forum)"Some of us have to pander to our emotions. I cannot help but concern myself with the brave men and women exploring that vessel. The fact they are risking their lives is very concerning to me. So I make small talk, try to distract myself." The High Councilor responded. "We do not even know what this species is like. We should wait until our teams uncover some evidence at the very least. For all we know it could be some old drone ship from a race that died countless eons ago."
  7. IC (Forum)"Natural response to a stressful situation. We cannot help the soldiers that are entering that craft, so we distract ourselves with small talk whilst hoping for the best." The High Councilor stated.
  8. IC (Forum)"No. Please explain." The Bylan were from a different nation entirely, with different drinks and whatever this tea was, they had not yet heard of it.
  9. IC (Forum)"You do realize it takes quite a few drinks to inhibit function yes? I see no problem with drinking as a stress relieving activity. High amounts of stress are far more counter-productive then a dash of alcohol here and there." The High Councilor countered, trying to keep the mood light.
  10. IC (Forum)"Touch my mead and there will be trouble. I would have thought the vote would have settled that. Logically, any nation willing to vote for it is willing to join it." Said the High Councilor, face glued to his book. The men continued onwards into the newly risen island, seeing pools of dark water and dying creatures all about.
  11. IC (Forum)"I am not an expert on the subject. I only know what I prefer." The High Councilor said before burying his head into his book. The man crawled upon the rapidly drying landmass, seeing dead things he could not describe buried in the horrid muck...
  12. IC (Forum)"Oh. Once in awhile. Mostly at night. We gather about the fire or if that is unavailable, a source of light and proceed to try to terrify each other with tales and such as. Every time someone is frightened, they must drink some mead." The High Councilor replied, not quite believing what he was discussing.
  13. IC (Forum)"Oh very well. Aye. Expect a nasty letter if this fails." Said the High Councilor even as he pulled out another book from his briefcase, this one titled simply: Magon. It was by the same author and dealt with a fellow being trapped on a strange landmass that had just risen from the waves.
  14. IC (Forum)"I purpose we wait for our soldiers to return with their findings. Speculation is great, but we do need some hard evidence to base it of off. My counterpart's question is an excellent example of this. What shape was the hull in? If they possess faster then light travel..." The High Councilor shuddered involuntarily even as the steamer made it's way home with two passengers, one mad and one all to sane.
  15. IC (Forum)The Bylan shook his head. They could continue this debate later. "We do not even have the technology needed to make these space-born battleships. Let us focus on reality for a moment. I agree with my counterparts question...we need to know how this vessel got here. Any theories?" The Bylan returned his eyes to his book just as the steamer rammed itself into the horrid body of the Elder God.
  16. IC (Forum)"I would prefer a simple agreement, whilst our nations are free to militarize space, once an outside threat shows up they are to unify and face it. Even if they are in the middle of a war." The Bylan said, tearing his eyes away from the steamer and the creature it fought.
  17. IC (Forum)"I do not think this could work. For a variety of reasons, what if whichever nation commanded it, a nation that would know everything about it, decided to kill off the crew members not of that nation and turn the guns against us? Of if another nation launched a raid disguised as a resupply and turned their guns against Earth? It will not work. It cannot work." The Bylan said. The Space Force would have too much power, better for nations and alliances to rule space and not some easily subverted international force. He returned his eyes to his book and to the courageous steamer that now battled with an Elder God...
  18. IC (Forum)"Weapons...now that is an idea I can get behind. On the condition they be put under the control of all nations, one for each nation or somesuch. But this is all theoretical isn't it? We need to wait for word from our soldiers" The High Councilor said while reaching into his briefcase for some choice reading material. He did enjoy the Call of Kthulu. Granted the Bylan who wrote it was probably a bit insane but still, it was quality work.
  19. IC (Forum)"Perhaps what we are seeing is the last vestige of a dying race. We cannot know for certain, we can know nothing for certain. I am not certain the High Council will agree to surrender space completely to another nation. This is a bit premature, I purpose we create an investigative agency to explore the the possibility of an older alien presence on the planet. Look at the Howlers....I've said this all before. I'm certain you get the point." The High Councilor replied in a somewhat civil tone.
  20. IC (Forum)The High Councilor bit back a retort. His care for the men risking their lives winning out over the desire to rip into his counterpart. "Let us hope it is enough. That ship may hold horror's that are beyond us at this juncture. Nothing can be ruled out."OOC: Perfectly fine. It's moving fast.
  21. IC (Forum)"Good for them! Better in their hands then your claws." The High Councilor was in no mood to be unbiased at this point. "Where is their representative? I feel I owe him a glass of mead." He turned towards his Astarian counterpart.
  22. IC (Crash Site)“With me.” Said Kalvi in a firm and calm voice as they entered behind the Janissaries, each weapon was pointed forwards and into the darkness of the craft. “Remember my friends, we are as wolves, and we will watch each other’s back and bite deep into the flank of our prey. Have no fear, for the pack has no fear." The Bylan worked together well, with no soldier ever being truly alone and without a pair of eyes at his back. The wolves were an example the Bylan held themselves up to, each soldier was taught to work together to defend their pack. And so far, it seemed to be working.IC (Forum)The High Councilor's tone was like ice. "Gladly. I will make note of the fact you seem to hold the lives of our men in so little regard." The very idea of sending men into such a situation armed...with glorified sticks was insulting. The fact they were his friends and allies or his countrymen or allies of allies, made it that much more insulting. The idea of risking another part of the collective needlessly....The High Councilor shook his head and drank down some more mead.
  23. IC (Forum)"Oh? It is? Tell me, what god reached down from the heavens to give you intelligence about what is on that vessel? I would like to know so that I may offer up a prayer in it's name. We do not know what is in that vessel. We do not know what kind of defenses it may have. We must approach it with as much force as we can. We are operating in the dark and where I come from, you do not send your men into the darkness armed with sticks!" The High Councilor said, before taking a long swing of his mead.
  24. IC (Forum)"Out of date weapons against horrors from the beyond?" The High Councilor was forced to wonder how the that representative got herself dressed in the morning. He reached into his briefcase and took a small sip of the mead he had hidden there before continuing. "We need every advantage we can get. Advanced weapons are one of those advantages."IC (Crash Site)Kalvi looked about at her soldiers as they assembled. "We are ready when you are. Let us bring them death."
  25. IC (Crash Site)Kalvi assembled her thoughts for a moment. "We need to go in with more troops then we did last time. I will dedicate as many squads as I can to this effort, but I warn you, if it comes down to the technology or my soldiers...I will choose my soldiers. Those creatures cannot be allowed to escape. Or breed for that matter."
