whoops, haven't updated this in awhile

Shoot Many Robots has been put on the back burner because partway through the game, levels repeat (albeit with tougher enemies) which starts to get boring.
I played and beat The Darkness II, as well as New Game +, as well as the Vendettas campaign; it was incredibly fun and incredibly violent, and a refreshing change of pace from all the serious and realistic shooters out there. I highly recommend it, but due to its short campaign (~5 hours), you should wait for it to be cheap.
I started Prototype afterwards (preorderd Prototype 2, which netted me the first for free) and have sunk plenty of hours into it. It's also incredibly fun and violent. If you enjoy over-the-top action then you definitely need to get this, it's insane. Running straight up the sides of buildings, throwing cars at helicopters, cool stuff like that.
It's games like Prototype and The Darkness II that reinvigorate my interest in gaming by how unique and crazy-fun they are.

I also got Alan Wake on sale and will probably be starting that once Prototype is done.

I beat Trine 2 today. It's one of the most beautiful games I've played, for sure. The art direction is great and the lighting is just spectacular. The gameplay was a little disappointing; there were too many similar puzzles and combat still only consisted of mashing mouse 1. The biggest disappointment though was the length: a measly 5 and a half hours. Regardless, it's the type of game that makes you want to play through it again eventually.

Next up is Darksiders, which I will be starting shortly after posting this entry.

I just beat Psychonauts. It was a great game, save for a few poor design choices. The writing was top notch.
I didn't 100% it, and the completionist in me wants to go back collecting everything, though I doubt I'd be able to do it all without a guide (unless I want to go insane). I'm gonna hold off on that though, since I'm already kind of burnt out from it.

I have plenty of games in my backlog to keep me busy:
    The Darkness II
    Darksiders
    Fallout
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
    Shoot Many Robots
    Trine 2
(and I have yet to try the CS:GO Beta)

Trine 2 is probably what's up next, as it's the only thing installed right now.

I'm 3 missions in so far and loving every moment of it. The gameplay is just so amazing. DAT IMPROVED COVER SYSTEM. And the RPG aspects are great as well. Not as tedious as ME and more robust than ME2.

Also the set pieces are EPIC, pardon the cliche. Running around planets while fighters zoom by overhead, bombarding Reapers walking across the surface. Truly awe-inspiring.

The OCD in me is worried that I may not do everything possible; the new REAPERS ARE INVADING SYSTEMS IN REAL TIME feature makes me feel like no matter what I do, I'm going to miss things. Oh well, I'm surely going to play through enough to hopefully do everything at least once.

also, and I feel like mentioning this because he was getting a lot of flak pre-release: Vega is actually pretty cool. People were worried he'd be generic meathead space marine #12345, but I think he's interesting so far. And it amuses me to no end that he's voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.

    welp, back to space fightin

I'm still making my way through ME2 again as I prepare for ME3... and the wait is killing me. I'm devoting all my free time to it while Icarus Effect sits unread and the Marble Hornets Season 2 DVD sits unwatched. (btw Season 3 starts tomorrow)

Meanwhile in game land, I recently purchased Psychonauts because it's on sale for some reason. Also, today, I got invited to the CSGO beta. (anyone want an invite?)

And of course I'm working now.

TOO MUCH STUFF IS HAPPENING ALL AT ONCE NOW THAT I HAVE LESS FREE TIME
    AND IT'S TERRIBLE

I went and saw Phantom Menace in 3D with my friend Josh today
Afterwards we stopped in Barnes and Noble so he could get someone a birthday gift.
While there, I decided to look for Icarus Effect, a novel about some characters from Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I was pretty indifferent about it; I mean, sure, I'd like to read it, but I wasn't going out of my way to do so. I figured if I saw it right in front of me, that would be incentive enough to buy it.
After searching through the Sci-fi section, we came across some shelves that seemed dedicated to videogame-related books. They were organized by author, but I didn't know who it was, so we searched the old fashion way... and couldn't find it.
I decided to text my mom and ask her to look it up. I was just about to hit "send" when Josh said something, I'm not sure what. He was kneeling and pulled a book from the bottom shelf.
    It wasn't Icarus Effect.

But right next to his face, staring right back at me, was Icarus Effect.

    So I bought it.

    >wear Metallica t-shirt to work
    >say hello to the supervisor
    >"You're into Metallica?"
    >"Yeah."
    >"Sweet, I used to be really into them when I was younger."

I would've never guessed him for being a Metallica fan, even when he was younger. Then again, I guess I don't seem like a Metallica fan either.

keeping with my theme of Killing Floor quotes for money-related entries
Also I got paid today and got 308 dollars. B) (apparently I got a 50 cent raise and no one told me???)
  8. HAZMAT
I was tired of aimless wandering so I looked up what Daedric quests I had yet to do.
I headed to an Orc stronghold southwest of Riften. The tribe had been cursed by Malacath. He tasked the tribe's leader with killing some giants near his shrine. The chief basically commanded me to come with. Whatever. We (and by we, I mean me) killed a couple giants in the cave and came upon the final boss giant at Malacath's shrine. The chief said he was too tired to fight and that he'd pay me for killing this last one. I killed the others, so I might as well. After killing it I went back to the chief by the entrance. He didn't want anyone (i.e. me) letting others know he's a coward, so he attacked me. So I killed him. So Malacath rewarded me with a hammer.
Next I headed to Whiterun for the final Daedric quest. Apparently one of the Jarl's sons was all dark and broody and angsty. The kid told me there was a secret talking door in the basement. I went down to this so-called “Whispering Door.” The Prince(ss) tasked me with getting the key to open it and retrieve her item inside. I pickpocketed the key from the Jarl himself and entered. It was completely empty except for a table with a journal and sword. The journal said something about how the sword was pure evil yadda yadda. I picked it up and got the achievement for getting all 15 Daedric artifacts.
I only needed one more Dragon Priest mask, so I looked up its location. I found his tomb in a dungeon; it was locked and needed two skull-shaped “keys” to open. Each key was guarded by a named Draugr. I unleashed him and promptly killed him. I learned the last word of Kyne's Peace and took the mask back to Labyrinthian. I placed it in its spot and the dragon head of the statue opened, revealing the final mask. I took them all back to my house for, uh... “safe-keeping.”
With nothing else in mind, I decided to finally do the Civil War questline. I joined up with the Stormcloaks. My initiation task to was to kill an Ice Wraith. A single Ice Wraith.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME
Well it took a whole 5 seconds but I managed to do it somehow. I returned and was told to tag along with some Stormcloaks going after the Jagged Crown. It was in a dungeon guarded by Imperials. There's a spy creepin' round here! (unfortunately this is never expanded upon, wasted potential) We got the crown, much to many Draugr's dismay, and I learned the last word of Slow Time.
Now was time to start our offensive. Step one was capturing Whiterun. I joined up with some Stormcloaks outside. The siege had already begun. Catapults were bombarding the city; buildings were in ruins. I sliced my way through the defenses, reaching Dragonreach. Inside I fought the Jarl himself and forced him to surrender.
With Whiterun under control, I aided the Stormcloaks in taking several Imperial forts; Neugrad, Greenwall, and Hraggstad all fell with little difficulty.
The time had come to end the war once and for all. We marched onto Solitude, rallying for Tullius's death. We fought our way to the castle; Tullius was prepared to surrender, but his second-in-command refused to stand down. I chopped her head off and Tullius laid down arms. I told Ulfric he should be the one to finish Tullius, and he did. With Solitude captured and the Imperial leader in Skyrim dead, the Stormcloaks were finally victorious. Ulfric gave a victory speech, and we went our separate ways.
  9. HAZMAT
On my adventures I came across a ghostly headless horseman. I was surprised and decided to follow him. He just made it to some tomb and disappeared. There were some skeletons but nothing of interest.
Later I found a man who needed help returning to camp. We took a short walk to a camp full of people. Then he revealed he was a bandit leader and they all attacked me. And thy all died.
I came upon a fort filled with bandits. I cleared it out no problem. When I exited I found a man who wanted me to clear the fort of bandits and open the front gate. Both of which I already did. So that was an easy quest.
Next I enter a dungeon and a woman asks me to help her find treasure. She stands around while I fight Draugr to find a way to open a gate. We get in the final room. It's a trap! She runs towards the chest and the floor raises her up, right into a MASHY SPIKE PLATE. The raised floor revealed a stairwell leading to a Word Wall with the second word of Animal Allegiance.
The next bandit hideout I stumbled into was complete and utter devastation. Falmer had broken through a rear wall and slaughtered all the bandits. So I slaughtered all the Falmer. On my way out, some more bandits arrived and assumed I killed the others. So I killed them, too.
Next I climbed to the tippy-top of a mountain and met a Stormcloak captain who wanted my help retrieving a Dragon Priest mask from the dungeon. He seemed a little shady, so I pickpocketed him. He was an impostor. So I killed him, lest another, less intelligent, traveler fall for his tricks. I noticed the Word Wall was right there up on the ruins' battlements. I climbed up some nearby rocks and used Whirlwind Sprint to jettison myself onto them, getting to the wall before I should have. Hehehe. I dropped back down and entered the dungeon. I fought through Draugr and ghosts of the cultists, eventually getting to the final chamber and killing the Priest.
My Conjuration was finally high enough to do the College quest, so I went there and started it. All I needed to do was summon an Unbound Dremora and get him to agree to do my bidding. Doesn't sound dangerous at all. I had to “kill”/banish him two times before he gave in the third time I summoned him. I had him bring me a stone from the planes of Oblivion, and returned that stone to the mage. He needed it for something, I don't know what, but he gave it back. I took it down into the basement of the college; lo and behold, it was the item that could be placed in the Atronach Forge.
I continued my travels and found a very large Forsworn camp. By the word wall were two Hagravens working on a Briarheart. I killed them and got the second word of Become Ethereal. I jumped off a nearby waterfall and met a Bard ghost. Apparently he jumped but didn't survive. He played me a song that increased my Speech.

During my previous adventures, I decided to go for the break-out-of-jail achievement. Since I'm such an upstanding member of society, I saved before hand. I walked into Riften and killed a beggar to get arrested. I picked the lock on my door and fought the guards. It took me a minute to remember that I could still use magic. My fists weren't doing any good, so I lit everyone on fire. Once I broke out and got the achievement, I loaded my previous save.

Also today, I did a wee bit of modding with the Creation Kit. Awwwww yeah. B)
I changed the one-handed perk Savage Strike. The description says it makes standing power attacks do +25% damage and adds a chance to decapitate your enemies. That sounds like it would make some attacks be an instant kill; what it actually means is that it adds a decapitation animation that randomly plays when you kill an enemy. I was disappointed to say the least when I found out the truth. I modded it to have a 5% chance to do a critical hit for... well, enough damage to instakill anything. While I was running around killing things to test it, I never once saw it work. I changed the chance to 100% to make sure I did everything right and tried again. It worked. It worked real good. Once I had my fun killing everything with a single power attack (and learning my modification did indeed work), I changed it back to 5%.

I ultimately decided to keep on explorin'.
I fast traveled to a random location and began walking. I saw a dragon roost nearby and headed toward it. I found myself fighting not only a dragon, but a Dragon Priest as well. I focused on the Priest as the Frost Dragon flew above. Once he was disposed of, I took the mask and killed the dragon. The Wall contained ALL THREE words of Throw Voice.
I traveled somewhere else and found a nearby mine. A man outside warned me that they had accidentally broken into Nordic ruins. I went in anyway to clear out the Draugr. The final room had some magic statues or something; one shot fireballs, the other healed the boss Draugr. Once he was down, they stopped functioning. I left and let the man know it was all clear.
Again I traveled away, and found a nearby Nordic ruin. There was a man outside who told me he had angered a Necromancer, and the mage decided to seek revenge by messing with his ancestors. We went inside to stop him, which involved fighting this man's ancestors. Early on he got hit by a Draugr's Disarm Shout, and didn't pick up a weapon for awhile. Fighting Draugr with fists didn't prove very effective for him. Eventually we made it to the final chamber for a beloved WAVE BASED ZOMBIE HORDE CHALLENGE. The mage teleported all around the room; I chased after him while my pal got surrounded by zombies. I killed the mage, and together we finished off the remaining zombies.
My next adventure was in an abandoned prison. Apparently a storm had caused heavy flooding, and the guards ran leaving the prisoners to die. The prisoners are now ghosts. Which I killed.
I arrived at a fort and a bandit told me to leave unless I was there to pay a ransom. Sure, I'll pay a ransom. WITH YOUR BLOOD. I killed all the bandits and went inside. A man was there. He said he was looking for his wife who went missing. He gave me a key a guard dropped and waited while I looked for her. I killed everyone in my way and made it to the final room, where the leader of the gang spoke to me. SURPRISE SURPSIE, she's the wife. Guess she didn't need any rescuing. She asked me to send her husband away and I agreed. Then I killed her because I'll have no kidnapping on my watch. I told the man I found his wife dead, and he left. I didn't tell him she was the leader though, I didn't want to break his heart.

Misc quests woo. AND NOTHING OF INTEREST HAPPENED
So I set out to do some adventuring. I just fast traveled to a location and walked in one direction.
Eventually I came upon a small house with a Hagraven named Moira. I thought it sounded familiar so I looked it up; she's the woman I “married” during my drunken adventures with Sam/Sanguine. (excpet I didn't experience it because the quest is bugged)
I went to a dragon place roost and killed the dragon there. For some reason it didn't relinquish its soul. No big deal, I have plenty. I got the final word for Frost Breath from the Wall.
I headed into a cave and found it filled to the brim with Conjurers. It was craaaaaaazy. One of them was unfortunate to get an arrow through the skull like in the previous entry.
I found a shrine; it was for Boethiah. The priestess there wanted me to bring a sacrifice. I brought a random follower I don't care about and killed her. Boethiah talked to us all, and had us fight for the right to party to be her new champion. I won, of course, and she sent me to eliminate the previous champion who wasn't serving her anymore. I killed him and took his unique armor. She made me her champion and let me keep the armor.
Next I delved into a dungeon in search of a sword. Soon after entering, a disembodied voice talked to me. Something about her dead husband blahblahblah. I fought through some Draugr, some of which were mining (lolwhat) and eventually killed her. Two ghosts thanked me and gave me a GHOST BLADE named... well, Ghostblade.
The next place I visited was a cave inhabited with Flamer. As I made my way deeper in, I found some ghosts. Apparently some guys wanted to hide out in the cave but were killed. I cleared the place out and left.

As much as I enjoy exploring, I feel so... bored, I guess, with no set goals. I like having something specific to do. Just wandering around aimlessly may be interesting, but is ultimately tiresome. I hope I can find some new quests soon. If not, I may end up starting the civil war.
  12. HAZMAT
I kept doing more misc quests, intent to clear the list out. (Except one is bugged and will always be there D:<)
My adventures brought me to another cave filled with a forest. These caves are always so beautiful.
I also found the Serpent Stone... but I already have the achievement for finding all 13 Stones. I guess achievements can't count.
I did all the quests I had except picking a side in the war, so I decided to head to the only town I hadn't been to yet: Falkreath.
I enter and learn that a little girl had been slaughtered by a a Werewolf. WASN'T ME. I talk to Hircine, Prince of the Hunt who “granted” lycanthropy to mortals; he told me to kill the Werewolf. I chased him down and did so. Hircine gave me armor made of the Werewolf's pelt. Ew.
The next quest I did involved finding a dog that had been seen around the town. What I didn't know was the the dog CAN TALK. Apparently he belongs to a Daedric Prince and I agree to help him get home.
His shrine is located in a cave filled with vampires. And, uh, this happened.

    Ouch.
She used to be an adventurer like me, then she took an arrow through the skull.
The Daedroth apparently didn't like this dog very much, but agreed to take him back if I found an axe for him. I did so, and he gave me a mask. Then his statue just vanished. No special effects or anything; one moment it's there, the next, it's gone.
I continued doing misc quests and got the first word of Animal Allegiance.
I wrapped up all my misc quests and returned to the Jarl, who made me Thane.
With nothing to do, I went to the Greybeards for the location of a Word. It was at a dragon place thing, I don't know what they're called; the final word of Marked for Death.
Still didn't have any quests so I went back for another location. This one was in a dungeon; I fought through some Draugr and got the second word of Disarm.
The next word was at another dragon place. It was the first word of Elemental Fury.
The next word was in a dungeon. There was an obvious trap door in front of it, but I walked on it anyway. I fell into a cage with shallow water. There were several dead bandits around me. A man started talking to me. He was planning on killing me or torturing me or taking me out to dinner or something. I picked the lock while he monologued and whacked him in the back with a greatsword. I made y way back up to the first floor and learned the second word of Kyne's Peace.
I decided to search for one last word. Another dragon place woo. It was the last word of Disarm.
During my adventures I found a few more misc quests, which I'll start next time.
  13. HAZMAT
I was out of quests and decided to visit the Greybeards for another Word of Power. I arrived, fought a Dragon, learned the second word of Frost Breath, and left.
I went to Whiterun because I had a token for a future reading I got during the Brotherhood quest line. The psychic tells me about a dead Brotherhood member who's treasure is left for me or something. He was in ruins populated by Forsworn. There was also a Hagraven, she kept teleporting away, further into the dungeon, when I tried to kill her. I learned the second word of Slow Time, and finally killed her when she had nowhere left to run (or should I say, teleport).
Next I did a misc quest to find Rjorn's drum. The final room of the dungeon had a ghost Draugr that split into 3, one for each magic element. I killed them all so they rejoined, then killed the Draugr, grabbed the drum, and left.
I headed to the Shrine of Peryite because i was in the mood for some Daedric shenanigans. On the way I instakilled an Ancient Dragon on the third strike. I LOVE THIS WEAPON
A follower (or whatever you want to call the worshipers) said I needed to gather some ingredients to speak to Peryite. I did and returned. He made me some soup laced with hallucinogens (not really, but it was pretty trippy), and I spoke to the Prince. One of his priests had taken some followers against his orders.
I headed into nearby Dwemer ruins and fought my way through the followers (THEY CAN SPIT ACID or something), and some bots. I fought the priest, who teleported around the room. Nothing a blade to the gut can't solve. I returned triumphant and was given a special shield.
  14. HAZMAT
I returned to the Sanctuary for the next part of Operation: Kill the King. I was to kill the Emperor's chef and take his place. Before doing so, I returned the heartscales to the College mage and got some Alteration spells.
I arrived in Markarth and entered the Keep. I talked to the Jarl's chef and persuaded him to tell me the identity of "The Gourmet," the Emperor's chef. Then I killed him. NO WITNESSES
I found the Gourmet standing on a dock outside an inn. I killed him and dropped his body in the water under the dock. With the real Gourmet out of the way and his identification papers in my pocket, I went to Solitude and put on my chef's hat. Literally.

    seems legit
I poisoned the dinner with my "secret ingredient" (THE SECRET IS IT KILLS YOU HAHAHA). I waited for the Emperor to die then made my escape. Outside I was met by guards; one of the Brotherhood had betrayed me to ensure their safety. Too bad the Commander planned on eliminating the Brotherhood anyway. I was also informed the man I just killed was a body double. What a shame. I slaughtered everyone and returned to the Sanctuary. It was under attack and ON FIRE. Festus was dead, Vazeera was dead, Gabriella was dead, the pet spider was dead. We lost a lot of good men that day. I helped Nazir in a fight and we prepared to leave. The Night Mother beckoned me to join her in her coffin again, and I did.
When the fire died down, Nazir unburied it and let me out. The Mother told me to find Astrid. She was lying on the ground burned, and in the center of a circle of candles. She had performed the Black Sacrament. She was the traitor, and asked to be put out of her misery. I obliged and set out to end what got us into this mess. It was time to assassinate the Emperor.
I returned to Amaund, the man who wanted the Emperor killed. He told me the location of him, as well as the Commander. Since the Commander was on my way, I stopped by and slid a dagger into his chest. Sweet, sweet revenge. I made it to the boat that the Emperor was staying on. I fought through his guards and made it to his room. He accepted his death, and asked that I consider killing the man who ordered it.
I killed him, returned to Amaund to turn in, and carried out the Emperor's dying wish.
  15. HAZMAT
for those of you not familiar with the Assassin's Creed series, the title refers the practice of cutting off one's ring finger when joining the Assassins

I returned to Windhelm, as I had heard about someone trying to summon the Dark Brotherhood. I broke into a house and found a boy performing the Black Sacrament to summon a Brotherhood member. He thought he was successful and that I was an assassin. He didn't believe that I wasn't, and said my contract was to kill Grelod the Kind, the owner of the Riften Orphanage. It took all my willpower to not kill her when I first met her because of how terrible she was; I guess you could say I was glad to now have “justification” for killing her now. I went to Riften and Stealth killed her no problem. While I was making my rounds selling junk, a courier delivered me a mysterious note: a black hand print with “We know” written underneath. Since nothing happened I looked it up online and read I needed to sleep for the quest to progress; I had never used a bed prior in the game.
Regardless, I went home and napped, and awoke in a mysterious shack; there was blood everywhere. A female assassin was there; she wasn't happy about me performing one of the Brotherhood's contracts. To make it up, I was tasked with killing one of the three people she had captive. She said only one had a contract to be killed. I didn't trust her, I believed none of them did and this was a test, but I decided to kill the Khajiit; he seemed like the only truly bad person there. Not like the Brotherhood only kills bad people though, they kill anyone for money. I was right, none of them did have contracts. Astrid let me leave and told me to meet her at the Brotherhood Sanctuary. I did, and was told to go to another assassin to get some contracts. Before that, I explored. Interestingly, the hideout contained a Word Wall: the second word of Marked for Death. I got my three contracts and left. While doing them I fought a named dragon. I'm not sure if it was the same one as before, or even if the named dragons respawn. I killed the three targets and returned, where I was given my first “real” contract.
A Markarth woman wanted her ex-boyfriend killed; turns out he was a bandit leader. She also wanted another woman killed. I didn't really understand her reasoning (WOMEN, m i rite?), but I did it anyway because I'm a completionist. The man was in some Dwemer ruins. After killing all the bandits I continued deeper into the complex and found out that it linked to Blackreach. That cavern must be huuuuuuuge.
I returned to the hideout to find out an interesting man had arrived with the Night Mother, leader of the Brotherhood. Oh yeah, she's a corpse. The eccentric man, Sicily Cicero, was responsible for keeping her corpse and coffin, uh... maintained?
I did two more minor contracts. When I came back, Astrid wanted me to spy on Cicero. She thought he was conspiring with another assassin. So I did what any normal person would do: I hid with the corpse. Sorry lady. Cicero was actually talking to himself. Years of being alone with the Night Mother and her never talking to him (he's not the Listener) had driven hm insane. Of course it is revealed I am the Listener. As the main character, it's my duty to be everything. The Night Mother herself gives me my next assignment.
I traveled to Morthal to go to some nearby ruins. A dragon attacked and I lured it away from town. It fought a giant. Together we killed it, then I killed the giant. Sorry.
In the dungeon I found a journal which started a new quest to find the keys to the inner room. I found the person who performed the Sacrament... he wanted to kill the emperor. I stayed in the dungeon to do the other quest, and fought through Draugr to get the keys that were actually weapons. In the final room was a GHOST DRAUGR and the first word of Aura Whisper. A lot of the Shouts seem like modified version of spells, which kinda sorta makes them COMPLETELY USELESS. I'd rather use the spell version and use an actually useful Shout.
My Alteration had hit 100 (gotta love grinding skills via pseudo-exploits!) so I went to the College to get the Alteration quest. I needed to fetch a special dagger and scale a dragon with it. The dungeon the dagger was in was previously cleared by me (who else?) but the enemies had respawned. Not a problem, and the dagger was soon mine.
The first part of Operation: Kill the King (yes I just made that name up) involved killing his cousin... AT HER WEDDING. While I was looking around I noticed a loose Gargoyle statue. BUENO. I waited for her to get underneath and pushed it on her, then made a speedy getaway.
Next up I was tasked with killing the son of the man responsible for the Emperor's security detail. I was also given a note to place on his body, making it seem like he was planning on assassinating the Emperor. I waited until he arrived in a city so I could complete the optional objective (for killing him a city). He just chilled out in the inn all day, too many witnesses. I waited until he was leaving the city and struck him down right at the gates. I planted the evidence and ran off before the guard could get close enough to start anything with me.
A dragon attacked when I returned; I killed it and smacked its corpse with the dagger to get the scales for the mage.
I entered and found out Cicero had gone crazy (or should I say, crazier), and attacked people. Astrid's husband gave chase. I found him north of Dawnstar, outside an abandoned Brotherhood sanctuary. He had been injured; I told him to return home, I'd take care of things. I fought through some ghosts and found Cicero bleeding out. He was raving about how the Night Mother wouldn't want him killed. After some internal debate, I decided to spare him and left.
  16. HAZMAT
I continued doing Thieves quests in order to improve the Guild. I did enough for the remaining two cities, Markarth and Solitude, and started the special missions.
Markarth's involved retrieving a stolen item. While I was traveling, I fought an Ancient Dragon. With the Razor, I instakilled it with the first strike. B) I arrived at the location to find a regular looking shack. The item was nowhere to be found. Then I noticed a secret button that moved the bookcase to reveal a SECRET PASSAGE. There was an entire underground cave complex underneath.
I returned to the Guild after completing the two quests and was made Guild Master. Neat.
I fast traveled to the College (I don't even remember why) and fought yet another Ancient Dragon. I didn't manage to instakill it this time though. I talked to some of the people, one had a special mission now that my Illusion was high enough. I had to use some spell that allowed me to see magic books hidden throughout the College. When I returned all four to him he gave me a Master-level Illusion spell, and he rest were available for purchase.
Next I went back to Blackreach to gather up some more Crimson Ninroot. I took them back to the dead scientist's colleague and gained an ability that made it so I might sometimes mix two potions instead of one. I never use Alchemy so this isn't very helpful, but whatevs.

I'm out of side missions yet again, so I think I might set out to find the Dark Brotherhood.
  17. HAZMAT
I decided to wrap up a few misc quests. First I went to Yngvild to find the ravings of a mad Necromancer. I fought through some ghosts and Draugr. I found several of his journals along the way. He was sitting on a throne in the final room with a ghost next to him. I killed him and left with his four journals in my possession
Next I went to Yngol Barrow with a Dragon Claw I had gotten long ago. There were strange bluish orbs that followed me around. Nothing ever happened with them and they were never explained. There was a room containing a dead scholar; he had pulled a lever to open the gate and got blasted with poison darts... so did I. I looted his body and found his journal, which contained the answer to the room's puzzle. If only he had though a bit about what he had translated, he may have survived a little while longer. The final room contained a GHOST DRAUGR. I killed it and took the helmet off of a skeleton, which conveniently opened the door.
When I got out I noticed a ship on my compass; I headed to it. There were some bandits that were easily dispatched.
I started doing some quests for the Thieves Guild; I read that if you do enough, more merchants show up in the hideout. During my adventures I fought an Ancient Dragon with Mehrunes Razor, the blade that a Daedric Prince forged for me last entry. For those of you not familiar with it, every strike has a (very small) chance to instantly kill. On my third strike the dragon was instakilled. B)
I did enough quests for Whiterun and Windhelm that I got special missions for each. Windhelm's involved killing another guild of thieves that was encroaching in our territory.
Two cities down, two to go, and the Guild will be in tip-top shape again.
