The book of love is long and boring No one can lift the darn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures and instructions for dancing
    But I
I love it when you read to me
    And you
    You can read me anything
The book of love has music in it
In fact that's where music comes from
Some of it is just transcendental
Some of it is just really dumb
    But I
I love it when you sing to me
    And you
    You can sing me anything
The book of love is long and boring
    And written very long ago
It's full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
And things we're all too young to know
    But I
I love it when you give me things
    And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
    And I
I love it when you give me things
    And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
    And I
I love it when you give me things
    And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
You ought to give me wedding rings

Little Update entry. The Lappy is now running on Windows 7 Professional ^^
Already feels good. It's going to be a long night, but totes worth it!

Also if you read this entry you are required to go to a friends profile (not me, somebody from your list you care about) and give them a hug. We need more of those!

Just a little question to the community!
Anybody willing to pick up a fellow BZPer at the Dulles Airport tomorrow around 11:30am before the expo starts to to drop me off at my hotel which is like 10 minutes away from the airport?

    Help would be appreciated!

And if not, I'll just take a cab

EDIT: Allright....I am about to board the flight now. Hanging around airports is boring!

This school-stuff is really getting to me lately. I never skipped so many classes in the years before, but it seems headaches and generally feeling swamped kinda take over.
Luckily I only have to hang in there for just 15 more days before I can study more relaxed over springbreak.

Today was interesting...especially the frontpage news on the possibility of Bionicle returning sometime in the future. What struck me funny though is the attitude some people have developed on the topic. I get it that some people say the main-story is done and so is the whole thing, I also understand why some want to see it return or continue. (Obviously because it's one of the coolest things Lego has come up with.)
I also can understand why people dislike HF. It's a replacement as far as Lego-action-figures go, but not in story. Personally I think it has some cool aspects.

But one opinion that stood out to me was the one that says those wanting Bionicle to come back are too concerned with a simple toyline and should move on and that Bionicle should in fact not return, ever.

So let me get this straight: You say that the members of a Bionicle fansite are too concerned with Bionicle?

Great job Sherlock! If that is your stand on things why are you still here?

I would go into picking this apart in-depth but It'd get kind of mean and I don't want to rant. So let me make this short:
Different people will have different opinions. It is ok to voice your opinion on something.
Wanting everybody else to share that opinion of yours is not.

And to throw in some extra wisdom:
Bionicle is over now. Get over it.
Bionicle might come back. Get over it.

And not just relationships, any sort of friendship.
It's not that you enjoy the good times, the good mood, the sunny days.

It's that, when there is no sunshine, when you go through an argument, when you are up to your neck in trouble, you come through for each other.

That you want to be there, even when things suck.

And if you care for the other person, if you value that relationship, you'll be there when things look bad.

Arnie is getting his own Cartoon now? Nice! The world kinda needs a classic action hero these days, even if he is out of his prime and animated. XD

Back on topic: I have returned from my vacation. In fact it has been over for a week now but I simply haven't found the time to talk about what's going on at the moment. Up until now.
March is one of the coolest months of the year, traditionally. It used to be the month when the new Bionicle sets would be available everywhere over here too. But it is also the months new Videogames hit the market, here and internationally.
And when Crysis2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood both arrive within the same week and both in the form of pre-ordered special editions, you can bet there are bound to be some sleepless nights.
I already have a reputation as a Crysis/AC/ME fanboy in my college. And Crysis 2 did nothing to ease that. Meaning it is a darn good game!
There are some downsides, as there are to anything.
As for AC:B, I haven't played it yet, though it is just waiting. I decided to go back to the start and replay the whole AC story, starting with the first game again and then working my way up to Brotherhood. Just like we're all prolly going to reread Harry Potter before Summer, eh?

College has picked up speed after the first semester went by relatively easily, except for that one paper we had to write near the end. (Still don't have the grade for that, but our profs tend to take things slow.)
But the thing is, after we've successfully put together a point&click adventure last semester which earned the whole course a straight A, we've moved on to smaller teams that will work on a 2D game this semester.
I am involved in a very motivated and quite funky group and we're making good progress. My job is to design the villains for our game and I have come up with a few nice concepts too.
This also means I now have some experience concerning the process of designing a game. And it is a complex one.
So the next time you feel like the Designers of a game we're deliberately messing up a game you like or you were unhappy about something, remember that it is a HUGE workload done by a limited number of people working very close to a schedule and as much as they want to make the best game possible, not every idea works out.
Now this project is mostly done in the afternoon and our free time. But classes are fun too. We've begun with small-time programming and we've been taught how to make a small ball bounce around in a window. It was fun and I can see how some people love putting objects into motion with the power of math and words.

In addition to all the game-playing and game-designing I am still working on my personal art and I am happy to announce that with my return I have decided to start drawing a small web-comic with hopefully one issue a week. So far five of them are sketched out, but without a website I can not really release them yet. However I might upload them on maj until that gets resolved.
I will not, however, link to it anywhere here on BZP as it will deal with topics that go beyond what is allowed here. It is not an adult comic though and the cast will feature a man-shark and LK's cat.
As for my serious art, I have done a few sketches the last few weeks but most of my time has gone into a painting that was supposed to be done before the holiday.

Where I've been? I was off skiing in Austria with my parents and their friends. We've had the most amazing weather and I will definitely post a picture or two once I find time to upload them.

So, now that I am back I'll take up the usual business. Most likely I'll hang around Artwork I and of course the BZPRPG. I wouldn't want EW, Friar and the others have all the fun by themselves now, right?
So, I'll see you around and I hope you are all safe, the world's quite busy these days.

    Keep cool everybody!

Yes, I took the opportunity to go and check out the area of Emeryville and Pixar Studios. I did not get inside (hehe, that'd have been the jackpot) but it was still awesome. For a reason or two...

For one, I saw Doc Hudson...

    ...and there's this:

That would be a brand-new Aston Martin Vantage (Maybe a Castmember of Cars 2?)

    What? Art by VF? Here!?

Yes indeed, I got off my quad and finished a piece today ^^ Head over to Artwork I if you want to check it out.

Also, who ordered the cold and snow to make a second pass? It's not enough to look pretty, it's just cold, grey and the streets are freezing!

Go away cold, I am already feeling sick, don't need you now. K, thx, bay!

Sooo, as some of you know I made an entry about Crysis, the most awesome FPS for PC out there (and a piece from german software-smithies ), around last year.

I've played through the game several times now, but something went missing after a while. Though I played on 1280x800, I couldn't put in any better shaders or shadows, not to mention particles and rendered light.
But after some experiments I gave up...until I got Asassins Creed. Now, there I played on 1280x800 as well but had the same problem: No FX possible. Until I reduced the resolution to 1024x768 and lo and behold:There came the effects.

Which gave me the idea to try the same with Crysis/Crysis Warhead). And it worked. My resolution for those two currently is 800x600, but who cares when the game looks freaking awesome because of it!

Do you sometimes come online and realize you've been in robot mode for two weeks and neither checked friend's profiles, RPG topics or the front-page?
I feel like a stranger on the website that I've been with the longest... -.-

In abut 72 hours I'll on the other side of the mountains, back in BBC...at least that's what is says on the license plates...which is an understatement IMO.

Second stop on my tour. And it's a big one

I just so happen to play a character in my schools voluntary theatre-group (which are a bunch of awesomely funny people).
My Character is Mr. Paul Paul, a succesfull top-manager.
He studied and was one of the best university-graduates and was immediately taken with open arms by a large company.
However, he soon found out that his effort to contribute new ideas and concepts to the company as hindrance to the managers (who felt disturbed during their golfing).
Paul thought hard and pondered a long time on the mystery of less qualified people receiving more promotions much faster then the actual intelligent people.
His result was that those who say yes and amen to every decision the superiors make ride the elvator of success much faster.
So he reduced ALL active thinking to "Yes, yes, exactly."
However he hid his intellect so well that the effect became irreversible.
He soon became the CEO of the company, but when he accidentally sold ten poison-gas factories to a third-world country (not that it is uncommon, but 10 at one seemed just a little suspiscious), the lobby got scared as well as the politicians who were bribed.
    So he had to dissapear.
Termination was out of date, so he was sent to the nuthouse.

Those of you who saw the tuxedo pictures a few entries back, that's part of my costume. Except the hair gets greased back in a ridiculously disgusting fashion.

    So, yes. I am insane

And thus the first week at the new job is over. I've completed my first two work assignments and am currently on my third, which I will get back to on Monday. I can't really talk about them, but it involved new sets and building some larger models of my own design for an upcoming display. I learned and saw so many things, that is really doesn't feel like only one week yet. It actually feels a bit unreal to think that last weekend I was still living in my family's house in my own room.

Now this weekend is the first in Billund. Compared to the past 5 days, there is a shocking lack of activity going on right now. Me and another colleague decided to checkout the nearby town of Veilje. It's not big, but bigger than Billund and has a beautiful old town and enough activity and options for food and entertainment that it is quite obvious why a lot of expat designers decide to move there.
Of course, my current residence has the distinct advantage of being only a stone's throw away from the employee store which I will also check out come Monday. ^^

A few small things I can share: I've got around to build some of my own designs after working hours at the office, mostly models I only had in LDD so far, so I hope I get to take photos of them soon. I also put together Smaug from the Hobbit sets to watch over the desk, which is also quite cool, those wings are really something else. And perhaps coolest in terms of builds so far: Mythosix, my villain for the Golden Mask contest which was withdrawn is now standing guard outside the Bionicle design area, so he's in good company.

More cool than that though was the opportunity to meet the other designers, many which I only knew from flickr before. Insanely talented and passionate people all around and it's really great to be able to hang out with them. The work environment in general is super-friendly and healthy. Though, if you think this is only a desk-job I can tell you there is quite a bit of walking involved. Lots of bricks means lots of shelves.

So, April 1st has come and gone. All my property is still intact.
So is my dignity. Another April 1st survived without a prank.

To everbody who fell victim to this most holy day of pranksters: My condolences.
