"Mmm? Well, why not?" Vwyn responded with a small shrug of her shoulders, regarding Tama with some confusion. "I figured, if you wanted, we could talk more, get to know each other and all that. Not much sense in just having a drive by conversation about something rather important and parting way for eternity." Admittedly, Vwyn liked the idea of having a friend of her own on her home islands, as so many were hard to relate with or to speak with on any level below formal or above unadulterated rage and discomfort.

"I understand if not, though. Lots of people are busy and I doubt you're an exception." At least, Vwyn felt, her invitation wouldn't feel obligatory to accept.

  2. IC:Ageru Tamachan (Odaiba)

"Thank you, it's nice to meet you too" Tama replied as she accepted the Fursic's handshake.

"I must say I found your attitude odd at first, but, I think I'm beginning to see it now" she remarked as she looked closer at the Dasaka now standing at her full height.

Males were supposed to be powerful warriors, noble and handsome, but those features couldn't be seen in Vwyn. Or rather, they could, but there was something added to them, something that changed the way she perceived them. She had clearly put a lot of work into this, considering her adamant standpoint, it was very impressive, actually.

"I might need a while to digest it completely, but I think I made a good start."

    IC:

Vwyn's grip felt firm in the handshake, the woman clearly a warrior who spent many years training in her particular field of expertise. But the gesture lasted only a moment before her hand fell back down to her side.

"You're interesting," she spoke with a light smile playing upon her soft lips, "and I understand I'm different and... possibly hard to understand for most, but so long as you remember I'm a woman then there's no problem. But," she paused a moment, as if in thought as to whether it was a wise decision to continue on her train of thought, "... but, if you have any... questions, I'll answer them. So long as I'm comfortable to, though..." Vwyn looked around, noting the quiet, almost desolate disposition of their location, "... I'm hungry."

OOC: Ugh, sorry I took so long; I had an extremely busy week,

  3. I say it's possible, I just hope they don't make em like actual dolls.

i play with my bionicle dolls at least once a month ill have you know

But since the companies used "action figure" I'd assume it means CCBS type things a la the new Star Wars stuff. I'm happy either way, I just hope they're within my budget range.

  4. Oh man, I think this theme is really lovely! I love the colors, the character designs, the set designs and I'm a big fan of fantasy and magic. I've yet to really learn much about the actual story LEGO's putting together for the line to help sell the product, mostly since I keep getting sidetracked to look, and I have yet to purchase any sets since... well, they're kinda expensive for my almost non-existent budget (that's already trying to help pay for actual necessities x.x ).

To be honest I've rarely been fan of "doll hair" -- it gets everywhere and it's kind of a pain to style it? Like, a character will have wild hair in the show and stuff, and then their toy won't look anything like them because you can't get the doll's hair to behave that way because physics. I can see the appeal, though, on like actual dolls where it's kind of a feature? But on lego sets I just feel it'd get everywhere and make a mess.

By "real" music they mean something that doesn't sound like yogurt being squeezed out of a plastic bag. Which is what I think of rap. But that's just my opinion.

okay but, like, where's this rap you've heard that apparently goes "pbbbphpblthpblth-thbhthbhtphb-pthblb" because i haven't heard that one yet. o:

    1) Go to the first post

    2) Click the video

    3) "pbbbphpblthpblth-thbhthbhtphb-pthblb"

To be fair, using this song to describe rap as a genre is about as inane as using the One Piece Rap from 4kids to do the same.

"It might sound pathetic," Vwyn stated aloud with a bit of a smile pulling at her lips for the first time in a while, "but I appreciate that. A lot." Slowly she stood up to her full height, her armor sleek and smooth in design, not necessarily built for heavy defense but more for quick and quiet movement. "Anyway, I should probably introduce myself in a more... appropriate manner. Since sitting on the ground the entire time wasn't entirely respectful." Whether or not people showed Tama respect on a regular basis evaded Vwyn's mind: she did not care what others in this society did, considering she had grievances with most of them.

"Properly, I am Fursic Vwynolyn, a Sighteye of my clan. And while I'm... regarded as a son in the context of that desperate family, I am in fact a daughter and this island is just lost in its own desire on that front. So, refer to me as I am and I'll never have a qualm with you. Well, provided you don't try to kill me or something." Vwyn put out her hand in a respectful gesture of a handshake, the light smile still on her soft featured countenance, her pink eyes holding a friendly warmth within them. "It's nice to meet you, miss Tama."

  7. OOC: Oh wow, I actually knew that I just for some reason spaced hardcore on it there (I looked up Ageru on the clan list the other night since I figured that was the name style).

    IC:

An exasperated sigh fell from Vwyn's lips. "Well, A for trying," she responded, though not visibly angered by the response, since to Vwyn, at least there was an attempt made. "I'm just a woman. None of that trapped in a body stuff. I wasn't born anything other than a woman, so my form is perfectly acceptable as a woman's form since... it is." It felt strange to explain that aloud, though Vwyn felt nearly certain no one on the islands would really understand what that feeling was like and she figured, if anyone chose to respect any ounce of her being, she may as well try to explain rather than become agitated and walk off. "To be fair," she continued, "you're one of the... I'd say few people, who didn't know me beforehand, who thought I was male. Usually only people who know my name beforehand would jump to that conclusion," of course she didn't look the most traditionally feminine, but she usually picked out attire and utilized her body language to try to fit the societal norms of what made a woman a woman, if only so people would assume correctly when they met her.

"And all I'm trying to do is correct people. A lot of times they just don't want to be corrected, as any family with someone in my position would."

  8. IC:

"Your life is your prerogative," Vwyn replied quietly as she glanced back downwards, her leather bound journal rested snugly within her arms now. "If it's any consolation, I don't see you as any different than when you walked up. There's... a lot I don't like about our society," a light sigh fell from her lips as she glanced in the general direction of the island that contained the capital of Dasakian culture. "People being born into power, the importance we place on individuals because of the circumstances of their birth, the unwavering devotion to all this. I think it's a waste. There are people from all circumstances of birth who could easily do what those who are privileged can do. Perhaps even better. Maybe, if not for my own circumstances I would never have thought about it or cared." She continued to think aloud for a moment, talking more to herself although doing her best to make sure Ageru could still feel included in her mumblings.

"Sorry, I'm being all thinking and critical and junk," she admitted sheepishly after a moment, running her hand over the back of her neck again. "I get this way after sitting around sorting out my thoughts after a while -- but you seem like a nice person, yes?" Vwyn looked up from her crosslegged position, not holding any problem with this individual, compared to the many she had grievances with. "But tell me, miss Ageru," the Dasaka shifted slightly, her head tilted to the side, "what do you see me as?" Maybe the test was a little unfair, but Vwyn wanted to see if Ageru respected her enough to use her proper pronouns before she tried to become an actual acquaintance or a friend. The Sighteye felt she didn't need anymore "friends" who merely tried to use her for their own selfish gains.

  9. IC:

Vwyn sat there for a moment lost in thought, mulling over the individual's words. Perhaps in some way a similarity existed, but the darkly armored individual disliked entertaining the notion she wore a mask as Tama did. "The circumstances of birth and place in society are... similar, but different," she mumbled out, "as I refuse to believe myself born in the manner everyone chooses to see me as. I was born as I am, as who I am, and nothing will change that. Anything that speaks against it is nothing more than lies and slander, and that I will never tolerate." She looked back to the other individual, tilting her head to the side slightly.

"As for you, it's similar in that you want to be seen as you want yourself to be seen. It's different in that... you seem to wear a mask, like just now when you dropped the formal talk to speak as yourself." Vwyn saw the decision for the other to speak as they were more comfortable a reflection of their self, and the accent placed over it as a mask to hide that individual's self. "I don't feel there's anything wrong with that. I simply want it to be known that the way I am, the way I feel and my perception of my self is who I am and there's  no changing that. It's why I become enraged when people don't see that. Because to say anything else is an insult. It's a belittlement to who I am. It's incorrect. It's lies and it's slander."

  10. IC:

"A... similar, situation?" She inquired with a curious glance towards Ageru Tama, wondering how similar their two positions might actually be. "As in... everyone seeing you one way when you're a different way, or... picking fights?" Vwyn felt the clarification would help her own understanding of where the conversation may turn, though she wanted to keep it a little broad so she wasn't making immediate assumptions.

"But before that, er..." Vwyn rubbed the back of her neck with a hand, "my name is Vwynolyn... Fursic Vwynolyn," she mumbled out the clan name with a venomous tone, clearly not on the best of terms with her own family.

  11.

So I made a character for this here game, a Dasaka and so limited to the Kentoku Archipelago, but I'm definitely interested if anyone wanted to interact with her? Doesn't need to be anything of spectacular importance, can just be an idle thing to pass the time or something. I may write up an introductory post for her in a little bit. c:

Did... did you roll up a male Dasaka, then make them trans? Dang, that is some grade-A trolling of Kentoku culture. I heartily approve.

Well yes I did, mostly because the Dasaka culture and characters sounded really intriguing to me and kinda kept me from taking too long with all the options and combinations available with other character possibilities. I made her trans as... well, almost all of the female characters I play are, as it's a major component I personally relate to and helps with getting into the character and playing them -- but with the importance on gender/gender binary within the Dasaka culture I had to take that into consideration when making the character (which actually helped flesh out some of her past life and personality, since I tend to get easily stuck when I need to write in those two sections for any character).

I still needed permission, well I felt I did so I asked, but I think it'll be fun for all the cultural nuances and resistance that'll help build her up as a character and potentially motivate later decisions... but yeah, she's just trans because I am and I feel more comfortable playing trans women in RP's (well, more I know I'll continue playing them, rather than dropping the character after only a small amount of time -- something I mistakenly did on a offsite RP site years ago with a villain character I was supposed to play but kind of ignored x.x ).

    So she's basically a "I want to stick around this time and not fall off the face of the game" character... I don't need to repeat 2008 and like every two years after >.>;;

  12. IC:

"I..." Vwyn started with a hint of embarrassment upon her features, her arms coming to rest across her breast after she closed her journal that still sat on her leg, "yes." The word came out quickly and quietly, her eyes drifting back down to the small weed she took a poetic interest in earlier. "As you can imagine, there's a large source of tension in my family and... the stresses from that tension can... and have, spilled over in some... annoying interactions with others." Her lips tightened into a thin line as she said that much, recalling quite a few times over the years when she ended up in ridiculous fights whose victor was only sometimes herself, but usually whomever she chose to bash skulls with.

  13. IC:

Vwyn continued to mull over her life and day choices by the time someone caught wind of her musings, mentally she chided herself for speaking so loudly as she thought she'd been the only one in earshot.

"Musing over a... --" She paused, pursing her lips into a deeper frown, but let out a long sigh to keep herself from firing off an insult. "Yes," Vwyn continued in a flat tone, her eyes glancing coldly over to the individual who regarded her as "imperial son."

"A bad decision made when someone chose to call me something similar to 'son,'" her tone sounded that of a cold anger, granted she knew she couldn't necessarily jump down someone's throat she never met or spoke with before. Taking a brief moment, she slowly closed her eyes and leaned back against the tree with a deep, calming breath, before slowly regarding the individual once more.

"If anything I'm a daughter, first and foremost."

  14. IC:

Grass. It felt soft to the touch, perhaps a little damp but nothing to call for discomfort.

For one who wore armor of the darkest blue, her presence upon the green, grassy hill would seem jarring to any who might happen by; so starkly did she contrast with the otherwise beautiful landscape. Sprouting here and there along the various planes of grass were some weeds struggling to survive in the Archipelago's climate; of all nature's creations, Vwyn perfectly adored weeds.

"So very cute," she mused as her slender fingers brushed along green leaves of a struggling floral parasite, "nothing other than you little fellas ever grow out here." The woman let in a deep breath, exhaling a moment later as she turned her dark pink eyes skyward. "A shame. Really."

A small book laid across her thigh as she sat curiously in the grass, some scribbles written along the mussed and used pages -- words, they were, relating to her emotions. Right now she felt at peace and at ease, as she often did whenever she came out to sit within the grass on the hills. Of course, she came to the location in a fury as per usual.

Got into a fight. Again. I won, though not honorably.

Vwyn rarely cared for honor and glory. At least, not when her own kin refused to recognize her as she demanded time and time again. But whenever the stressors of the day piled up and spilt over into raw, unadulterated emotion, she had a poor habit of picking choices that would end up with no winner. Only losers on all sides and she, among the rest, laid in emotional tatters on the edge of various breakdowns.

"It wouldn't be so bad, little weed," she mumbled sorrowfully as she looked back down to the plant between her fingers, "if they saw me as I see you. Beautiful, lovely and different. Something to drag life and color back into this empty, unused canvas." She continued mumbling for a time, lamenting her treatment and lamenting how much it got under her armor, under her skin, how much it picked and pried at her mind, everyone knowing precisely what buttons to press to put her into a state of incredible anger and duress.

"For a while," she thought aloud with a small smile upon her soft lips, "it felt nice. Punching in someone's smirking mouth after being so rudely insulted: it brought shame to my clan, which was perfect," Vwyn chuckled a little, "but now... it's a childish thing to do. Not that I'm above childish antics, but... it doesn't have the same effect, the same satisfaction anymore." Another sigh as she looked back to her ever listening partner in conversation.

"It sucks." She stated flatly, the corners of her mouth pulled down into a slight frown.

    OOC:

Absolutely anyone is welcome to happen by her. I kept the location non-specific as there's some different areas that allow this setting within the islands, and if someone wanted to interact and was within a reasonable area I didn't want to potentially block off any ability to become a part of the scene. c:

  15. So I made a character for this here game, a Dasaka and so limited to the Kentoku Archipelago, but I'm definitely interested if anyone wanted to interact with her? Doesn't need to be anything of spectacular importance, can just be an idle thing to pass the time or something. I may write up an introductory post for her in a little bit. c:

  16. Name -- Vwynolyn

    Species -- Dasaka

    Appearance --

I tried to draw her okay in this the age of 2017 fight me

She stands at a powerful height of six foot three inches, her armor a deep, deep shade of blue that mirrors that of the ocean's darkest depths. Accented with a dark gold she appears more black and bronze than blue and gold. Like many beings, she is a lithe and athletic individual. Broad shoulders and thinner hips adorn her form, although she often laments the fact her body grew the way it did.

Her facial features are soft, round and youthful. While the cut of her jaw belies that of a warrior who can appear stern and fierce, her lips and smile are often warm and kind: not that she cannot spill some venom into her visage if she so pleased and desired. One thing of note are her teeth, for they took on a sharper edge over the years, primarily due to diet and her manner of living, but it is an unnerving feature she utilizes in order to intimidate and combat foes.

As many sea faring folk may wear, she owns a thick cloak that wraps around her entire form with ease. The hem drops down to her toes, giving her just enough space to move unhindered by the thick fabric designed to keep one warm and dry. While she wears it, with her armor underneath, her generally sleek form appears somewhat bulky -- her shoulders appear larger, and her frame more squarish.

This Dasaka's eyes are a deep, deep shade of pink that borders on the color red. They are fairly large, almond shaped and can flirt with a youthful innocence or shift to the gaze of an experienced, calculating warrior ready to fight tooth and nail for her own survival.

By conventional standards many would see her and think of her as a cute individual; wide-eyed and excited about the world and its inhabitants. Energetic, perhaps even a childish air to her bubbly steps. Regardless, there are days she can pull out a mysterious mien or a downright cruel and cold one depending on her mood and how much sleep she received the day prior.

Like most, she carries her weapon strapped to her back for ease of use: her weapon is a hankyū bow known as the Peacemaker. Of course, its design is absolutely striking and beautiful, crafted likely by an artisan with a penchant for crystalline objects considering how the arrows in the quiver on her hip seem to be crafted from razor thin crystals (However basic arrows would also work with the bow itself).

Caste and Clan -- Her caste is that of the menti warrior, her clan is of the Fursic, thus her experience and knowledge in the Sighteye discipline that came first and foremost in her training as a warrior.

Gender (see “C. Petitioning” for details) -- She identifies as a woman, much to the scorn of her family whom refuse to acknowledge her identity.

Powers, including (as applicable) mask powers and Menti Discipline(s) -- Huna, the mask of concealment. Sighteye discipline, training to wield the Willhammer discipline, Ideatalk.

Weakness(es) -- As a calculating, thought based warrior she often runs into problems when faced with those who have years of hand to hand combat under their belt. While she can definitely hold her own in most situations, if she cannot reach into her disciplines she is easily overpowered by those who put more of an emphasis on brute force.

She is incredibly susceptible to the effects of things that may affect her mind in the form of food or drink.

Additionally, she is fairly impressionable and gullible, although not necessarily weaknesses in combat, they make her easy to manipulate and use for one's own ends and desires.

    History --

Vwyn is a strange individual when it comes to Dasaka cultures and customs. When she was born and brought into the world, her family felt a sense of joy when they immediately declared her form as belonging to the male gender of the race. So eager to have another male in their ranks, they largely discarded any sense of dissent she provided as an individual to the label as she grew older and began to train as any male of the culture would.

Yearning for her gender to be seen as true and real, she took to the training she was forced into and spent her time practicing. Only focusing so hard and doing so well as it, largely, kept her sane and kept her from dipping into unhealthy behaviors and dangerous decisions. Training became her outlet, her way to express herself for many, many years -- after mastering her first discipline, that of the Sighteye as was customary with her clan, she became more resilient than before.

Anytime anyone referred to Vwyn as male to her face she corrected them, harshly. A few times she even challenged individuals to combat who dared to dissent her wishes and continue to refer to her as she least desired. In many ways she became an aggressive, angry individual who wanted nothing more than to dismantle the very fabric of society if that meant she could finally grasp hold of who she wanted to be.

But one individual alone cannot incite change without cause many wish to follow. So rare, for her situation amongst her people, no one ever listened to her whenever she talked about what she disliked the most. No one would listen to her whenever she referred to herself as she, or her. No one would allow her to express herself as she most desired. No one allowed her to do any of the things she wanted. For a time, she fell into a state of despair and disrepair, forgoing her training and skipping it and failing it intentionally. Many a time she tried to bring shame to her clan's name, tried to muddy it so that her muddying and shaming might outdo the pride her family received from referring to her as a male.

Of course, her acts of rebellion never worked.

Resigned, but still adamant about her pronouns and expression, she chose to find her own instructor for the Willhammer discipline she learned part way: someone who will respect her, listen to her and treat her as a being and not as a political toy.

  17. In my opinion, a GM's job is to get people to play his game, by getting them to agree his premise is good, i.e. getting them to see things his way. However, I'll give you the benefit of the me-being-slightly-less-knowledge-than-you and say you're right

I'd actually argue against this line of thinking. As a GM, your job is not only to pitch the world and game you want to play, but to also work with your prospective players to help foster an environment they actually want to experience, influence and be a part of. If you plop down a game and say "My way or the high way" you won't attract a lot of players to your game who weren't initially interested in playing it anyway. But if you put out a concept, an idea, and get help from the community you want to play with to craft it into something they, as players, are excited and enthusiastic to play and be a part of, then you're way more likely going to have a successful game.

A GM's job is more to drive the narrative of a story, to say what does and does not go against rules or reality of the world's setting. A lot of it is presenting events and situations for your players to work through and come out of, and while having fixated events isn't necessarily a bad thing (such as an important character death that drives into the next arc of the story), I always found it more fun when player input is put into all aspects (even if it's some players behind the scenes who want to plan an exciting plot-twisty sort of thing).

Players are just as important to the actual inception of a game as the GM is: I don't suggest spurning their input if they go through the trouble to provide it.

  18. Comic books have trouble appealing to a lot of people for the same reasons ancient myths do. Some people with long backstories say some things, hit someone and go home. It's a good formula, but it's understandable if some are apathetic about it.

Uh, you realize people dedicate their lives to things like ancient mythology and drawing comparisons between various cultures and studying the themes and structures that pop up in their legends and belief systems to help understand those cultures better as a whole? And not only that, but ancient mythology is a widely, widely popular setting and "theme" (theme as in how everything's dressed) in a lot of popular media today?

Like, there's a lot of differences in the stories and the origin tales and so on and so forth, but that doesn't mean they aren't interesting as a whole? It doesn't mean some people can prefer one story over another, one interpretation over the other?

And while comic books themselves, as a medium, I don't believe are super popular anymore the superheroes they are about still are. (Why else would we have so many blockbuster movies about them? Or new TV Shows about them cropping up --- The Flash, Arrow, I'm unsure what they named the Daredevil one, and I think there's one more?). These franchises have been doing reboots, micrcontinuities and alternate universe stuff since they began, really. Stuff like this isn't new.

  19. Bohrok Va were cute, adorable and neat little figures even if the krana falling out of their backs was a bit troublesome. For heroes I went with Mata (I liked the Metru, too) since they were the six I was most hyped up for when I heard about this line releasing, and have the best memories receiving (as almost all of them were gifts tied in with big personal days/events).

For villains: the Bohrok. Hands down, I adore my little bowling balls of doom.
