      Gotta be a toss up between 'The Shining' and 'Alien.' I do think, personally, that the former is scarier but there's just something about Alien that can't be ignored. And if you'll allow a suggestion of non traditional horror, Martha Marcy May Marlene scared me like no other film has. There's no monsters, no ghosts, it's just... real. It's not based on a true story (definitely inspired by real life people, though), but its foundation in reality gives it...
