please don't suck please don't suck please don't suck
also if it's a continuation from the original trilogy and not something entirely new and different, please overwrite some of the more meh expanded universe stuff but keep the cool parts like Mara Jade
I'm trying to be optimistic, being a massive Star Wars fangirl literally since the age of 2, but god I have a terrible feeling this will suck

so the indie pop band Tegan and Sara have released a new single from their upcoming 2013 album, entitled "Closer"
it's
different
but good
the emphasis is definitely on the pop this time around, it sounds a lot like a modern radio dance-pop track except.. it has a sort of M83 vibe running through the music, and overall is much stronger and more enjoyable to me than the radio-pop it resembles
I hope they have more of their characteristic pop-rock fare on the album, but if the entire thing was electronic pop in this vein it might not be so bad

is DeeVee because what he's had to say on a certain subject recently has been totally commendable and agreeable and respectable and just major props all around to the guy.

hey yeah why not
so I have a new job, and that's been basically consuming my life
it kinda sucks but it pays pretty well for what it is I guess
I just got my first paycheck and I already spent like 1/4 of it though, probably shouldn't do that lol
also I had to call off work a couple days ago because I've been sick. still feel pretty bad but hopefully I'll be fine to work tomorrow
not really closer to any of my goals yet but I guess this is a start at least
so yeah that's that. that's what's new with me. what's new with you

I said I'd pop back in on special occasions and I think this counts
a couple weeks ago I dropped $40 on a copy of Machinae Supremacy's rare, out-of-print Redeemer (Underground Edition) CD. this was an independently-released limited run version of their second album that was only available through their website and has long since been discontinued, featuring a different mix and an alternate tracklist to its more common major label retail counterpart. they rarely ever show up for sale anywhere so when I saw it, I had to jump on it, and today it finally arrived.
as the title states, this is basically a holy grail of my music collection. I'm stoked to finally own a copy.
updated collection picture:
from top to bottom:
- Redeemer (Underground Edition)
- Redeemer (Retail Edition)
- Overworld
- A View from the End of the World
- The Beat of Our Decay (rare UK promotional compilation)
- Rise of a Digital Nation
- Phantom Shadow
also owned digitally and not pictured:
- Deus Ex Machinae (band's first album, available for free through their website)
- Origin (compilation of free singles available through their website)
- Arcade (compilation of free singles available through their website)
- Fury (compilation of free singles available through their website)
- Echoes (compilation of free cover songs available through their website)
- Jets'n'Guns original soundtrack (free through their website)
- Jets'n'Guns Gold EP (free through their website)
- Gianna Sisters Twisted Dreams original soundtrack
- Epic Fan Pack (odds 'n' ends collection briefly available through their website)
- Live at Assembly 2011 (HD live video officially distributed through The Pirate Bay)
- "Gerudo Valley" single (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time cover, free single released this year)
band's currently in the studio working on the follow-up to Phantom Shadow, which is supposed to be released later this year. I'll update this entry when the time comes.

no jokes this time and I'll probably keep it relatively brief and casual cuz I'm just too tired
lots of great new music came out in the past couple weeks. there was the new Katatonia last week which is currently my AotY, and then this week new Architects and Thrice both of which are pretty killer. dude at the record store sold me the former a day earlier than the release date which is pretty cool. meanwhile I've been trying to work out a new organizational/storage system for my 750+ CDs and that's been kind of a pain (literally. those boxes are heavy)
also been catching up on this season's anime. Studio Trigger's Space Patrol Luluco is adorable and one of my favorite things in a while, although tonight's episode was kind of weird and felt rushed but still. I've also been enjoying Wit Studio's new show Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. it's a little too similar to Attack on Titan (also by Wit) storywise but the animation is absolutely gorgeous and I'm liking the characters for the most part. Kiznaiver is another thing I'm really enjoying, it's also by Trigger but it looks and feels kind of different for them and I'm really digging the story and the characters. I've also been watching Mayoiga, although I don't know why at this point, since almost all the characters are really unlikeable and the story has kinda jumped the shark. beyond that I've started Tanaka-kun Is Always Listless and Anne Happy but haven't gotten far enough in either to make a judgment yet, and I've also still got a pretty long list of stuff I intend to check out at some point.
and finally (and most importantly), in addition to my continued quest for employment I'm probably gonna start taking art classes soon. haven't worked out the specifics but it's something I'm really interested in doing and I've already found a few options that seem plausible. maybe if this pans out I can eventually do art as a career, that'd be pretty cool
and that's it I guess. idk why I've decided to make these occasional life update entries here, my interest in this place is at an all-time low and I don't think anybody reads them anyway, but whatever
