  1. Today we're going to do something a little bit different. Instead of looking at an official LEGO set, we're going to look at a supplemental fan designed parts. Crazy Legs by CrazyBricks was a Kickstarter that went on last year, and BZPower Reporter Xccj just received a batch. Read on to see what they're like.View the full article
  2. LEGO may no longer be providing a calendar for monthly deals, but they still plan to have them every now and then. To celebrate the release of the 2022 Chinese Traditional Festival sets, there are two gifts with purchases available from Shop.Lego.com. First, if you spend $85 or more on any set, you get 40491 Year of the Tiger for free. That should also stack with the second deal, which is if you spend $40 or more on Monkie Kid or Ninjago sets, you get 30562 Monkie Kid's Underwater Journey polybag for free. These are some enticing deals to help you celebrate the Year of the Tiger.View the full article

  4. Okay, it may be 2022, but there were still some 2021 sets on the backlog that are ready for a review. Today BZPower Reporter Xccj looks at a Ninjago Legacy set, 71753 Fire Dragon Attack, to see how this stacks up against other Ninjago Dragons. Read on for some pictures and thoughts on the set, or check out the Instagram storyView the full article
  5. LEGO has produced some brilliant Lord of the Rings sets in its time, but that theme has come and gone with many fans clamoring for more. The latest LEGO Ideas iteration of Minas Tirith gained 10,000 votes and its builder, GJC15344, shares his passion for the LEGO hobby, the Middle Earth mythology, and more in his new interview. Check it out and then cross your fingers that maybe, finally, LEGO will revisit this iconic story. View the full article
  6. The Toy Association recently sent us a press release about a new podcast, Once Upon a Playtime, launched by their nonprofit initiative The Genius of Play. Intended for young children and their parents, the two fourteen-minute episodes offered so far tell inspiring stories extolling the virtues of creative play. Episode one features an interview with Nathan Sawaya, which contains an abridged version of his career as a professional builder. Episode two profiles Batgirl herself, actress Alicia Silverstone. 7. It's the first Tuesday of the year, so of course we're going to start strong with a videogame stream in LEGO Dimensions! Come on by the BZPower Twitch channel starting at 7:30 PM Eastern as we check out the Scooby Doo Team Pack and see what zany antics Scoob and Shaggy can get up to with the rest of the gang. Will we get classic 60s TV tunes? I sure hope so! I'm looking forward to playing tonight and seeing some of you there! View the full article
  8. Back when Bionicle began, the quintessential way to experience the theme was to play the Mata Nui Online Game and explore the new island with monthly updates of new content. But the ability to experience the game online died when Flash was discontinued... until now. The folks over at Wall of History have embarked on an ambitious project to restore the original game in a Flash emulator that can be played on any browser. To celebrate the anniversary of the original game, they launched a demo of their work, which features the first chapter of the Ta-Wahi beach. There's not a lot of content yet, but it's exciting to see the game back and I'm eager to see their continued work on the project. (Also, the red star prophecies work, something the downloadable game never was able to do.) View the full article
  9. The high pace of the LEGO Ideas 10K club continues, and there are now three new 10K club interviews available since our last update. They are Yang Yang, fan designer of CARL'S HOUSE from Pixar's Up; MOCingbird, fan designer BASEMENT & SEWERAGE; and Jonny Campbell, fan designer of JAWS. You can read all three interviews to learn more about these popular models and their creators. View the full article
  10. It's time for another Ninjago set review, and today BZPower Reporter Xccj focuses on the largest set of the winter wave, 71767 Ninja Dojo Temple. This comes with the mechs and snakes and all the training centers you need for a classic Ninjago experience. Read on for a detailed look into this temple and the various Ninja elements it features, and check out our Instagram story for more detailed photos of the set.View the full article
  11. When I became a reporter, one of the things the news team was always striving to do was post news every day. I think everyone took some pride from that, and I know I did, and even if we cheated sometimes or missed a day here and there, I'd wager that on average we posted things 361 or more days each year, server issues notwithstanding. As time has gone on though, real life takes more and more of a priority, and it falls more and more to just me to keep things updated. And while it's been approaching for some time, I feel I've finally reached the point where it's become more of a burden than something I actually enjoy. And I think that means it's time for a change. 13. Ninjago has a penchant for having some impressive dragon sets year after year, and the Ninjago Core line is no different. There are a few to choose from this wave with an array of new parts, and today we'll be looking at the biggest one: Lloyd's Legendary Dragon. Does it take to the skies or fall flat on its face? Read, and watch, on to find out!View the full article
  14. This year has just about come to an end, and a new year seems like a great reason for a new live build! Join us on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022 at 1 PM Eastern over on the BZPower Twitch channel as we build the LEGO Ideas 21329 Fender Stratocaster Guitar set! I'm definitely looking forward to this one, but there's a big question: should we build the candy apple red or classic black version? Whatever we decide, I'm looking forward to seeing you all next year as we assemble the model, chat, and give away some sets! View the full article
  15. Two new projects have reached ten thousand votes of support on LEGO Ideas over the past couple of days: The Three Investigators - The Headquarters by Valkon and NASA SR-71 Blackbird by BrickerBeard. Both builders are new members of the club, and their respective projects are quite different, showing off the variety that the platform enables. Both models feature superb attention to detail and could be great additions to the Ideas theme. We wish them the best of luck when they enter their upcoming review phase! View the full article
  16. Fans of the 2006 classic Bionicle Heroes (wow is that game really fifteen year old?) should check out BZPower member Toa_Kralich's recent topic announcing Bionicle Heroes: Myths of Voya Nui Version 1.4, a mod for the game created by a team of fans to upgrade the experience. They've made the textures and models more accurate to the canon of the series, rebalanced the gameplay so some of the characters who were a bit pointless to use are more effective, and even added new music! I love the passion the community has for projects like this, and look forward to seeing what breakthroughs they may have in the future to update things even further! Let us know in the Talkback if you'd like to see us check this out on a future Twitch Tuesday! View the full article
  17. It's Tuesday at last, which means we get to play some LEGO videogames again! Come by the BZPower Twitch channel starting at 7:30 PM Eastern to watch us wrap up (I hope) The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame, as there isn't much left to achieve. This will obviously be our last stream for the year, so we'll be starting next year with a LEGO Dimensions session - but just a heads up that we won't be doing a giveaway tonight, even though we still welcome your feedback on what world you'd like to see us dive into next week. I'm looking forward to reaching 100% in our fourth LEGO game and hope to see you all there tonight! View the full article
  18. Earlier this morning, Hasan and the LEGO Ideas team revealed the latest addition to their portfolio: 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone, which fans have been clamoring for ever since the project by Viv Grannell (aka toastergrl) achieved ten thousand votes of support. The set contains 1125 pieces and will retail for $70 in the US when it goes on sale January 1st. I love how this model came out and think it captures the look of the classic Sega games perfectly - if only the Mario sets could have been like this! Nintendo competitors aside, make sure you head over to the LEGO Ideas blog to read more about this awesome tribute to Sonic and make sure you watch the great video they made for the set! 19. We're counting down the days until 2021 wraps up, and with the end of the month and year comes the end of our current raffle! Be sure to go and enter the 2021 Member Raffle #12 before the clock strikes midnight on the 31st for your chance to win 75112 General Grievous aka the tan CCBS parts pack (or a cool display piece if you're a fan of the Clone Wars). Best of luck to everyone who enters! View the full article
  20. On Christmas Eve Kamila shared the latest of the current LEGO Ideas 10k Club Interviews. You should head over to learn about John's Medieval Watermill by Maria Kalaoglou and see how this Greek AFOL started her obsession with bricks and came back into it after a dark age. There's some familiar story beats that we've seen before, but everyone has their unique twists that they bring to the fandom. Give it a read and find out for yourself! View the full article
  21. This Christmas afternoon, BZPower Blog Leader Dviddy has provided us with a quick review of one of next year's Ninjago sets, 71760 Jay's Thunder Dragon EVO. He shows off the build, the new parts, and the EVO concept introduced with these steps. You can check out his great pictures on BZPower's Instagram.View the full article
  22. We'd like to take a moment to wish a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone in the BZPower community! Long-time member Taka Nuvia celebrated in her blog with an adorable Toa spreading some peace and love for the season, and it seemed like the perfect thing to share today. Whatever your traditions may be during this time of year, I hope you get to spend some time with the people you care about and have a chance to relax and unwind. Best wishes to all!View the full article
  23. Even the Christmas season isn't keeping people from voting for MOCs on LEGO Ideas! A new project has recently achieved ten thousand votes of support: Asterix the Gaul by Ganpat the Celt, a newcomer to the 10k Club. There's certainly a lot to this model, with a bunch of minifigures and a variety of vignettes from the comics, which is sure to appeal to fans of the series. This isn't the first time the Asterix IP has made it to the club, but it will be interesting to see if this minifig-scale build will do better than the busts of Asterix and Obelix, which didn't get approved. We wish them the best of luck when they enter their upcoming review phase! View the full article
  24. Recently Tommy Andreasen, one of the creators of Ninjago and a Senior Creative Manager at The LEGO Group, has been taking to Twitter with an interesting celebration of the holidays. Using the hashtag #24DaysOfChima, he's been sharing concept art, sketches, videos, and behind-the scenes stories about Legends of Chima, a fun theme from a few years ago that attempted to build on the storytelling and cross-media aspects of Bionicle and Ninjago before it. There's some really interesting stuff to check out, whether you're a fan of the theme or just want to learn about how the company develops its 'big-bang' ideas. View the full article
  25. The holidays can't stop the flow of 10k Club interviews over on LEGO Ideas! Most recently Kamila shared a chat with Henk Van der Linde, the creator of The A-team: Van and Crew and Knight Rider, who was successful in getting two projects into the current review period. Go give it a read to learn about how the 1980s inspired the builds and how he brought them to life for the platform! View the full article
