  1. I believe that I received my initial Lego collection from some older relatives. Granted, none of them were sorted into sets, but I have run into a few bricks that are old enough to have a different font for the word Lego printed on the studs. Beyond that, I know I have a good assortment of sets from the '90's, some of which I am sure are as old as I am.

  2. I have to agree with the eye colors one. I would love to see each set in a wave have a different eye color.

I want them to continue to have returning characters resemble their old selves. Gen 1 was very bad at this, but I hope that Gen 2 keeps it strong.

I want at least one new shell armor piece per wave.

I would like to have more variety of masks in the small sets.

I would also love to see some pieces that fix the CCBS problem of always being unarmored on one side. Kind of like what they did with Kopaka's legs, except that it would actually work (Maybe some new shells that will become flush with each other when put back to back).

Not really a set design thing (more of a marketing thing), but I would like to have sets that represent individual characters be given proper names. I don't really need proper names for animals, beasts, or sets that represent a single being out of an identical horde, but giving actual characters proper names should be a given.

  3. Yeah, I got over my unwavering loyalty to Lego as the one true building toy a while ago. Direct rip-offs are one thing, but there are just certain licenses that Lego either can't get or will not get for various reasons, and I rather have building toys of those things (mainly Halo and Transformers) from some other source than not have them at all. And its not like Lego came up with the idea for the studded building brick (though they did come up with the tubes on the bottom).

  4. You guys who are complaining about a lack of combiners know that Wairuha and Akamai were released in the second half of 2001, right? We can expect some combiners in August, probably.

In the US at least, the entire original wave of Bionicle launched in the summer, and the combiner instructions were included in the back of the sets' instruction booklets. I am not quite sure what you are talking about. Could you elaborate?

  5. My Protectors have not arrived from Lego after about 3 weeks. I'm going to contact customer support.

Anyway, I got the rest of the winter wave on time. I think these are by far the best toys of these characters. They look great, and they all look very similar to their Mata forms, or at least close enough. The only exception is Onua, who is a bit too broad and has arms that are a bit too short (They barely hang lower than his waist, and they are to short to touch one another or even the middle of his chest). Gali is surprisingly my favorite, considering I did not think she looked that good from pictures. There is just something about having a Toa sized set wielding an Axonn sized axe that looks really good.

On the story side of things, I wish that it would pick up some steam. I may be jumping the gun a bit, it is only the end of January after all, but after Lego leaked the first half of the animations this year, I am a bit disappointed that there was so little of them. Hopefully there will be some news soon about the books that Lego was thinking of making. Hopefully Papercutz will be producing some comics for this line in addition to those.

  6. I wonder if the missing "infected" masks will be released somehow. Maybe a Shop@Home promotion?

Ekimu is shorter than I expected. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it is different. I like the use of the Disney Princess/Ninjago decorated window as a shield piece. I don't really see Makuta being as short.

I love all of the translucent colored pieces in the new sets, though the do not fit the usual elemental coloring of Bionicle sets, and the big guy seems to share a color scheme with Lord of Skull Spiders, which is a bit disappointing.

Are some of those limb pieces missing ball joints? Does that mean we are getting CCBS pieces that are compatible with Gen 1 style Bionicle armor?

  7. I got this game for my Vita, and it is far from my favorite. All of the Lego games from Marvel onwards (well, I don't know about Batman 3) have all been really cheap feeling isometric games with no hub areas and most of the collectables replaced by uninteresting challenges. 45 levels may seem like a lot, but when any given level can be completed in 3 minutes, it is not worth it. These are nowhere near as fun as the console versions or even the portable games that came before it. I really hope they switch back to making portable games that are more like the console versions soon.

He could hear before, so he would know what sounds are. Plus, I'm just saying he can't hear the sounds, but I still think he would be able to feel sounds, either through vibrations or some connection with his element. I think it would be more impractical to have a warrior who could be defeated by a splitting headache whenever anyone said anything in a voice that was louder than a whisper.

To be fair, I agree with the last sentence, but I don't think De-Toa have that particular weakness. It doesn't make sense for them to have it, so why would they?

It is outright stated in Brothers in Arms chapter 4 that they do have that weakness and that is why there are not many of them around. It was also stated there that the Order had to do something to Krakua in some way to overcome that weakness. I guess they might have been some of the earlier Matoran made by the Great Beings and did not have all of the kinks worked out.

I think you're confusing De-Toa with De-Matoran (which do have that weakness). Krakua was in the battle in Metru Nui and talked with Vakama, and there's no indication that the old Turaga whispered. (In fact, such Toa in the normal order of things would be protecting De-Matoran from attacks, and that probably includes loud noise. Obviously they would not have that weakness IMO. Comes with the title.)

In any case, an Order alteration wouldn't have to be total deafness. :shrugs: As it is impractical to have a warrior who could be defeated by someone talking loudly, so it is also impractical to have a warrior that can't hear for no reason. I don't see why the Order would purposefully make him deaf.

Nope, I am not mixing up the traits. Here's a direct quote from the source:

“Krakua is someplace safe,” said Jerbraz. “Now he can be trained. There’s a reason you don’t see a lot of Toa of Sonics around – they are vulnerable to their own power. One of the Great Beings’ little jokes, I guess. We’ll make sure he can use his power – all of it – when he becomes a Toa someday … because we’re going to need it.”

Anyway, the person who came up with the theory explained it better than I ever could. I was just making an example of some theories I liked.

  9. I don't think Ekimu is supposed to replace Mata Nui. The only things that they have in common is the Makuta's brother thing and that they are asleep at the beginning of the story. Mata Nui has much more power to him than Ekimu has. I think that there is still room in Gen 2 to have some sort of Mata Nui in it even with Ekimu there.

Or maybe they thought that they had made the Av-Matoran too powerful, so they made the De-Matoran a bit weak.

  11.

I also like to believe some of my favorite theories I have heard on this forum, like the Order of Mata Nui made Krakua deaf to remove the weakness that Matoran/Toa of Sonics have with loud noises. That is also why he wears a mask of telepathy to make up for not being able to hear noises.

Just for the sake of pointing out, this doesn't have to be. Krakua could reduce the sound coming to his ears using his Sonics power. Also, not all sounds come from thoughts - a Suletu won't tell you about armor scraping sounds, explosion sounds, that sort of thing.

Might be just be me :shrugs:, but I'd think for a Toa of Sonics the ability to hear would be critical. How do you dampen the sounds of you prowling past the enemy if you don't know what those are? It seems impractical. I don't think the Order would go for that.

  12. Having the Great Beings base aspects of the Matoran Universe on parts of their culture and folklore is an interesting idea. I personally think that Gen 1 and Gen 2 take place in alternate universes, but this is interesting.

One problem with the theory as you have presented it: if the Protectors are Agori, then why don't Agori use Masks of Power? I think it would be better to assume that Protectors are a different species all-together (I think the Great Beings explored several different worlds, so this is not out of the realm of possibility), or may be early versions of the Great Beings themselves.

  13. For G1, romance remains throughout it and Matoran elements are not gender-specific. I tend to also ignore official scale and measurements (like there only being 1000 Matoran in Metru Nui and Voya Nui taking up most of the continent it detatched from). I also like to explore alternate 2005 arcs that don't have Vakama turning evil, and what would happen if the Bota Magna arc had its chance to occur.

  14. Since you have a Netflix account, I think it may be worth it to check it out. It is nowhere near as good as Bionicle or Ninjago, but since it isn't hard for you to watch the series, it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Plus, Speedorz are a lot of fun.
