Completed Von Hagen's The Aztec: man and tribe. A truly enthusiastic immersion into a world that is no more. Von Hagen has a very particular approach to essay writing: philosophical, ironic, even touching at times. In the bookstore I bought it I also saw monographs on the Maya and Incas, also by Von Hagen...I might get the Maya one.

Long time no see, BBJ!
Those mistika claws finally look good. Using protectors feet as base for clawed hands/gauntlets is a seriously genius idea. The sheer amount of parts originating from different years is as impressive as the final outcome. My only gripe would be the head...a bare silver Avohkii.
It's a great MOC though, on par with your others.

Yeah, as TIN said, I always thought Uxar was a dragonfly of sorts, but I like the kinda mechanical look of its wings.
That aside, what can I say? These are creations beyond words. Congratulations, and I too am looking forward to see you working together again in the future, hopefully a near one!

Completed The cursed tomb in a little more than a day some weeks ago (and I'm not really sure if I want to continue the saga; fantasy elements drawn from egyptian mythology are a little too much prominent for my liking, and I have come across two strange mistakes: Jacq talks about acacia and avocado. In Egypt. In 1200 CE. They were native to America) and I have re-read Lovecraft's At the mountains of madness. Despite not liking the ancient astronaut concept, it is a wonderful piece of horror/sci-fi literature.
I'm not sure what to read now. I have a few books ready, one of which is a long essay on Aztec culture. I might start that.

If G2 isn't living up to this G1 standard as you say, then how having G2 a continuation would make it better? I think it would be twice as worse, honestly.
Don't get me wrong, I agree that G2 could and should have more depth, but I see no point in the two universes being related.
If G2 Bionicle had a different name, would we still love/hate it as we do now? Because in the end G1 and G2 have very little in common. Yes there are masks and same names, but that aside? Maybe if we stop seeing G2 as the 'son' of G1 and more of a Constraction line on its own, we could start appreciating it for what it is, because all we are doing is drawing comparisons between the two. When G1 was out what did we compare it to? We should return to that state of mind.

The model is impressive! On par with, if not superior to, Nescent's combiner creatures, and just like them this should become an official combiner. As others have said, I totally dig the chromatic asymmetry, it fits the character perfectly. It reminds me of a digimon...
Haikara is no less impressive, if not more, considering you had to deal with small-scale.
*GASP*
Haikara is a wyvern... with gun-wings. Most impressive! I see that the flap function remains intact, which is quite cool. Plus, the wing design is excellent. However, the golden head clashes with the rest of the build, but that's not much of a problem in Unity Mode.
Well, if you think about it (and picture Haikara not as a wyvern) many birds today have a yellowish/golden beak that clashes with the rest of the plumage...yet they manage to live just fine!
