  1. I see him as a buff dragon with paladin armor and like a polearm of some sor designed to stab Toa in an old fashioned grusome way.

I know it sounds silly, but then again the story got very "interesting" the past few years..

  2. I'm not sure why this is a valid reason. He would be so powerful with the armor on anyway, and we only know that Tahu has two extra powers as a result of the GA.

Well, I think Greg just doesn't want to overpower him, especially in such a setting as Spherus Magna. He wants to leave Tahu with at least *some* weakness, ja feel?

  3. I feel that the Mata could have gone without half the Toa (Onua, Lewa, Pohatu), and I believe half of the Toa can be absent from any team and they'll function just fine.

    Toa not needed:

    Metru: Onewa, Nuju, Whenua

    Mahri/Inika: Nuparu, Kongu, Hewkii

Mangai: 4 Toa of ice. who has 4 Toa of ice....

Hagah: All of them. Honestly, I would just have had them be Hordika mutated Turaga, and not try to force more Toa in the story.

  4. So I was digging through my old Brickshelf folders and I found my old Helryx MOC.
I was really proud of this 5-6 years ago when I made it :P , and even though the MOCing board has become much more advanced than what it used to be, I hope you like her. :)

If I remember correctly, I made her with the idea in mind to represent a certain "modern Toa" build, but also to appear very clockworky and archaic. I used the Hau Nuva since there aren't that many blue masks to chose from really :P , plus it gives her a neat knight look.

  5. So theres this magnetic board on my fridge used for notes, doodling etc, so I was walking by it before I went to bed and I started drawing. I ended up with a very very very rough draft of a Great Being.

Btw, the colored thing on the right is meant to be some scroll or something... Idk, either way he is not finished, and I will try to make a better one on paper. :)

    Please lemme know whatya think!

  6.

Destiny of every living being thing set in stone. Immutable and eternal.

Actually BS01 states that a being's destiny can alter over the course of their life.

    BS01 is wrong, then.

    Highly unlikely.

I mean, I'm open to your opinion, but I would like to see some evidence of contradiction with BS01. I can think of at least 2 examples of destiny changing off the top of my head.

  7. I think Archon~ was referring to the Fire Entity, an elemental creature created by the Great Beings, and simply mistyped. ;)

Yea, that is what I meant, good looking out. :P

I think the GBs just wanted those in charge of the RS to be a unique species, but essentially like Matoran, so that there would be no risk of a "bias glitch" developing toward other Matoran and against other species. So, to me your third idea is probably closer to the mark, but whether Kestora are the prototype or are a later variation on the theme would actually be somewhat irrelevant. And if the GBs noticed they were "glitching" already I highly doubt they'd assign them to such an important job. :shrugs: It sounds more to me like the GBs assumed their programming of the Kestora was sound and didn't have time to check up on them, as the Shattering could happen at any moment.

I like the non-bias idea you have there. :P

And, yes if the glitch did make them colder and apathetic towards other beings, my idea was that it would simply make them more suitable for a job that required dealing with deceased beings.

  8. I feel I will get stoned for saying this, but I never necessarily liked the feel of the first 3 years. I mean yeah, I was a kid so I was just kind of like "wow fire robot thats sick" but looking at it from a perspective of an older fan, it just seemed too conflicting to me...

I mean advanced robots on an island with barely-to-no technology?

    Puh-lease. It's just silly.

So I say no, don't rewrite it. I think 2004 opened the door to a full on universe and a lot of questions that I've frankly had fun trying to answer and explore the past years.

  9. So, recently I've been thinking about the Kestora and what they do, and I became curious regarding their origin and nature.

Frankly, we know little about them, and here are the facts we know so far, according to BS01:

    • Sapient species created by the GBs
    • Purple and black armor (irrelevant info really)
    • Wear Kanohi masks but cannot access the power
    • No powers
    • 2 populations
      • City of Silver Dimension
      • Red Star
    • Both populations seem to have little regard for other lifeforms
      • CoSD Kestora invade a city and laugh at Takanuva's face
      • RS Kestora are "morbidly curious" and have no problems dissecting MU beings

Now, that I laid out some of the  facts regarding Kestora, I would like to to present you my 3 hypothesis, which might have little evidence, but do seem to follow a pattern.

Hypothesis #1: The Kestora were based on the Bone Hunters.

Now, I know this sounds weird, but this is what I have in mind: the GBs seemed to base most of the species they created in the MU on an already existing species on Spherus Magna. Matoran and Toa are examples of species that the GBs created to inhabit Mata Nui. Also, while they didn't directly create the Bohrok, they surely impacted their inception and based their form on a former creation, the Baterra.

Based on this, I think that the Great Beings wanted to create hardy, resilient, diminutive creatures that would be more aggressive, morbid, and able to perform the "dirtiest" job in the Universe. Since the Bone Hunters have a culture of piracy and "survival of the fittest" ideology, the GBs decided to base their morticians/undertakers (for a lack of better word) on this violent race on Spherus Magna.

Hypothesis #1.5: The Kestora were based on the Skrall

This one is a bit more far-fetched. Most of the reasons I gave for Kestora being based on the Bone Hunters applies to the Skrall: both species are violent, militaristic, xenophobic, etc. However, the Skrall come in as candidates as their culture is much more... "swarmish" as the workers pretty much do whatever for the greater "good".

Hypothesis #2: The Kestora are Matoran prototypes.

This one is my personal favorite. So lets begin.

First of all, the Kestora wear masks and seem to look similar to Matoran, however they are powerless much like the Agori which they were based off of. The idea that they came before the Matoran and are their forefathers also comes from the fact that the GBs creations tend to be quite violent. Helryx, Orde, Karzahni, Zyglak (even if they were and accident), Fire Emblem, Tren Krom were all very... Cold, and seemed to have hot tempers. The Kestora are this way as well. They don't care for other life forms, and are purely focused on their tasks. My idea is that the GBs saw this, they noticed how violent and brutal this things were when they first activated them, so they decided to shove some of the population in a pocket dimension, and used the rest for a morbid task that would fit their nature. Another reason they might have abandoned them in favor for the Matoran might be due to their absentmindedness.

    References:

BS01 (Kestora, Great Beings, Toa, Matoran, Agori, Glatorian, Skrall, Baterra, Red Star)

Please read the evidence I provided for the hypothesis you wish to respond to, but if tl;dr is your case, here's the summary:

#1: Kestora are based on Bone Hunters cuz they're both violent little creatures.

#1.5: Kestora are based on Skrall due to the shared swarm-like mentality.

#2: Kestora are Matoran prototypes and were originally based on Agori, but were replaced by Matoran as they were too morbid/violent/aggressive.

    Thanks for reading. :)

  10. They look exactly the way they used to, breathing "gills" and all. But they're not amphibious because of Matoro when he wore the Ignika. They were sent by the OoMN to spy on a Skakdi force to see if they'd ally with Teridax and witnessed the creation of the golden fusion. They were then enslaved by the creature and became servants of the Skakdi. Once Annona attacked, the dreams of the Skakdi went wild and they were freed from the control of their captors and their current whereabouts are unknown. :)

They actually are amphibious, meaning they can breath both air and water.

  11. I've got it on a USB, waiting to be read along with all the rest of the BIONICLEStory.com Epics. Also, to the first comment, you are right about it not being on the scroll, but the Dark Hunters doesn't exist anymore. The Shadowed One tried (And notably failed) to make the new Dark Hunters. Also, I haven't caught up with all of the Story for BIONICLE outside of the Comics, movies, and books(Hence why I have the BIONICLEStory.com Epics on a USB waiting to be read).

Actually, all the bioniclestory.com serials can be read on BS01!

And the DH still do exist, most have just emigrated to Spherus Magna and are trying to make a life out there like they did in the Matoran Universe. I believe it has even been mentioned somewhere that they might even be recruiting criminal beings of Spherus Magna into their organization, but don't take my word for it.

  12.

How exactly are they possible "in theory"?

What theory are you talking about

There're no rules that state that it's impossible, but we have yet to see any "natural" examples.
Ummm... It has been stated that Matoran are created with affiliation of AN element. An element, as in one element.

Natural dual-element affiliation does not exist, unless you want to get into weird experiments and whatever like it was accomplished with Shadow Leeches, then sure be my guest. But naturally, dual-element Matoran are not created.

EDIT: I just checked the Toa page on BS01 and it says that they have control of a single element, further proving that you can't have Toa/Matoran of 2 elements.

  13. Well Pohatu only leveled the fortress as the Toa Nuva were never keen on Dark Hunter operations, but the island was destroyed during Reign of Shadows when Teridax released a good sized army of his Rahkshi (possibly Exo-Toa and Visorak as well) to attack and destroy the Dark Hunters. While some of them might have died and stuff, most migrated to Xia where they continued operations and even started making deals with the newly reformed Barraki armies. Also, I just checked the Scroll of Preparations and it doesn't say that they had to destroy the island of Odina, but rather quell active volcanoes in the Southern Islands including Artidax.

It's all in Reign of Shadows and Toa Nuva Blog I believe, I suggest reading it! :)

EDIT: Well someone beat me to it...
