Arise from the deepest dream A haven in a haze The howls and the sickly screams they fade… Pale blood will guide your way Embrace the changes and be consumed Bleak bells that chime dismay Echo the cries of the paleblood moon! —Miracle of Sound, “Paleblood Moon” (source) [Render] Bloodborne - Hunter by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr The Hunter is a main protagonist/player character from an action RPG "Bloodborne" developed by FromSoft Gaming studio. I took inspiration from one of the basic Hunter outfits, using this image of an official Bloodborne statue as a reference. The weapon they wield is a so-called saw cleaver that, as all weapons in the game, can be transformed from a hacksaw-like weapon into a massive two-handed blade. * * * Now folks remember, if you like what I do and you want to see me create your OC, a favorite Bionicle Character, or something else, feel free to look up my Commission Info! Skakdi of the tundra plains, Frax roams the icy wasteland with mercenary objectives. Armed with a small knife and the Bow of the Icy Winds, which absorbs wind and frost from the air to fire bursts of icy death. My first venture into this style of large scale yet minimalist design, a scale I plan on exploring more in the future - he's by no means perfect, but I'm very happy with how he turned out. Some more pictures available on my Flickr.

This was my ninth attempt at a Dark Hunter, and is also one of my favourites. Overlord was once a ruler who enforced an oppressive regime on his island's people. For centuries he ruled through fear and faced no threats to his rule. That was until six matoran became Toa and overthrew him, freeing the matoran population. The ruler was consigned to the shadows, making several attempts to regain his rule, but was never powerful enough, so he waited for centuries, biding his time. Eventually, driven by desperation, he joined the Dark Hunters, taking on the name "Overlord", and the Shadowed One promised that one day his rule would be restored. Overlord is immensely strong and powerful, and has the ability to transport himself between places. He wields a double-bladed staff and has near-impenetrable armour. He is determined, and will not let anything stand in his way.

Now for something altogether simpler. I wanted to create a stocky, lumbering character that managed to have some degree of menace whilst being very slightly comical in appearance. I decided to use the "Axxon hands" for the gauntlets, and I added the chestplate and a few more grey bits just before rendering. The result, I find, is a satisfying mix of Bionicle and Hero Factory parts. "Gauntlet" was a short and stocky Dark Hunter, who preferred to live in damp and moist conditions. He was lumbering and ungainly, but he made up for his lack of maneuverability with his huge bladed gauntlets, which is where his codename came from. Few understood how he could be such an efficient Dark Hunter, but those who faced him and his blades seldom lived to tell the tale.

Yes, it's a Dark Hunter minifigure. And yes, he really is meant to be that size. "Infiltrator" was once the average size for a Dark Hunter (i.e. quite big). However, one of his missions led to him touching a cursed Kanohi Pehkui, which reduced him to just a fraction of his original size. Fortunately, his diminished state meant that he was the right size for sneaking around unnoticed, which was of great use on many missions. His reduced size did not make him any less savage, and he would relentlessly attack anyone who got in the way of his mission no matter how big they were. He carried a powerful combat staff that fired bolts of energy, as well as a hand held launcher that he used to fire deadly explosive discs. He was also one of the few Dark Hunters to wear a mask (albeit a miniaturised version) - the Kanohi Siluvak, the mask of unconsciousness, which allowed the user to put targets to sleep. And here's a comparison with another MOC to give you a sense of scale: Any feedback is always welcome! (Also, sorry about the picture quality. For some reason it's stopped letting me use the pictures I've uploaded to the LEGO Gallery.)

You might have seen my other MOC, Arthroporak, a great big centipede. Here is a MOC I'd made previously which inspired it. I made this first, but I came up with the backstory after making the Arthroporak. Most of the Bionicle MOCs I make on LDD are intended to be Dark Hunters, and this is one such Dark Hunter. "Crawler" was once a native of the Northern Continent. At some point, he was kidnapped for use in a series of experiments. It was during one of these experiments that he was merged with an Arthroporak, becoming a monstrous multi-legged creature, and this transformation allowed him to escape by smashing his way out of the facility. As there was no longer a place for him in his homeland, he joined the Dark Hunters. After many years serving the organisation, he still feels hatred towards the mysterious group who changed him into his current state. After being merged, Crawler gained a variety of new abilities. He inherited the venom palps and flexible tail of an Arthroporak, as well as a venomous bite. He also wielded four sets of protosteel talons with his four front limbs. Perhaps his most interesting power was his ability to grow new segments of his body, something an Arthroporak cannot do. He could regenerate lost segments no matter how much of his main body had been lost. This meant that he could only be killed by destroying his heavily armoured head.

A powerful beast that lives in the region of ice, the Frost Spider Queen will not hesitate to rip any intruders to shreds with its eight powerful legs and formidable ice powers. Thankfully, it seems to be one of a kind, and rarely wanders outside its chosen territory. Only the most foolish of hunters dare go after this most powerful of prey. This is my entry for the September Flickr contest. Gallery

Presentation From the design of the box to the instruction manual, these are the first things you see before building the set. Here we have a rather large polybag. With the mini gunship getting shot at and shooting in the wrong direction. And, of course, all of the logos are up front including Star Wars, LEGO, BrickMaster, and Captain Rex is also staring at something. The gunship in orbit, perhaps? On the back, we have all of the legal info in several different languages, along with various logos and pictures. So, in a nutshell, not very interesting... Building Half the fun is had building the set. How fun is it to build and how easy or challenging is it? This set uses some SNOT, along with the standard SOT (Studs On Top ) build. The build is intuitive, to say the least. The use of plates and slopes provides a smooth texture, but no set is perfect. Despite the smoothness of the model, the slopes leave a bit of a ledge in some places. Especially the front. The top plates also aren't exactly flush with the cockpit either. Set Design Now that the set is complete, we can critique how it looks from every angle. New or interesting pieces can also be examined here. The finished product is appealing to the eye, but, why the tail light? Just, why? Since when do you see bounty hunters stop at a red light? The jet-engines can rotate an unrestricted total of 360 degrees. The guns are a bit mediocre, if I do say so myself. The front guns are begging for something, perhaps lightsaber hilts? The rear guns aren't really a problem, but it would feel a little better it they could rotate. And let's not forget. It's SWOOSHABLE! The interesting pieces in the set are the 1x1 SNOT bricks (you get eight of them!), the arches, and just about every Metru-Green piece there is. Playability The other half of the fun is in playing with the set. How well does the set function and is it enjoyable to play with? The set is easy to hold, so it is swooshable. You can also rotate the engines easily, so it's good for mini-roleplay. There are no gimmicky flick-fires (yay!). So, a minor plus. Final Thoughts Once it's all said and done, how does the set stack up? Should I get it? Pros What's to like? METRU-GREEN!!!SwooshablePretty screen-accurateeasy and fun to play with Cons What's not to like? Why the tail light? Not as smooth as it should benon-rotating rear gunslack of detail I think that this is a pretty good set if you want it. It compares very well when stood up alongside it's big brother. And it's fun to play with. But, before I go, may I ask one thing? Why the tail light?

Tahkron the Kanohi Hunter --- Tahkron is a member of a very mysterious species - the Kanohi Hunters. As you can probably guess, the KH have a tradition of hunting for... kanohi! And they like to wear them on their body as trophies. They can also wear them on their 'chin' to use their powers. Theoretically their minds can only control noble kanohi, but with proper training and experience they know how to use only so much power of a great one that doesn't overwhelm them. And there's no doubt that Tahkron, as the high chief of the Earth Clan, is very experienced. Pics (or didn't happen): Front: a little blurry D: Side: o_O it has a tail Back: and blurry wings too O_O No masks: blurry knees and arm The 'chin': looks like a blurry mata face That looks: a bit stupid (and blurry) Now time for a story: "The Decapitation" Tahu is unaware of his situation. Tahkron puts his Kakama on to escape quickly with a new trophy! I'm an awful storyteller ^ ^'
