BZPRPG - Onu-Wahi

Uyism had vanished somewhere in the chaos of the bank robbery. Lira had written a poem about the heroic bravery of the Ussalry and everyone else, but now everything was quiet again. That was something about Onu-Koro: it was quiet. Even when you made noise, it felt small compared to the vastness of the underground.

 

The Matoran walked around, wide-eyed in wonder, collecting as much sensory detail as she could.

IC: Sajis

 

Lira would nearly bump into Sajis and Reson, who were in the midst of shooting the breeze (although the former was attempting to think of a way to carry all four drunks over to some holding cells).

 

"Excuse me," said Sajis, stepping back.

IC: Reson.

 

"Okay," Reson said acceptingly. Note to self: it's okay to collapse tunnels, so long as they're abandoned, he cast a sideways glance towards Sajis, remmbering what she'd said earlier, and adding, so long as you're quiet about it. 

 

He looked at the four drunks, then back at Sajis, just in time to see an unfamiliar Ko-Matoran bump into her. 

 

"Excuse me," Sajis said, stepping away from the dazed Matoran.

 

"Are you okay?" Reson asked. He wasn't entirely sure which one of them he was asking, in all honesty. 

[Eyru]

IC

 

"Oh, I'm sorry!" Lira said, cheeks reddening. Head in the clouds, as always... or in this case, head in the lightstones? "I wasn't looking where I was going."

IC: Sajis

 

"You need to be more aware in the future," said Sajis bluntly.

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

Sajis seemed riled up. She was being awfully brusque with the Ko-Matoran. Probably because of the recent fight. "Calm down Sajis," Reson said carefully, not wanting to anger her further. Sometimes being blunt and brutal was necessary, like when dealing with certain drunk people, but with a lost-looking Matoran who'd made a simple mistake, being kind and considerate left a far better impression. He didn't want them giving the Ussalry a bad reputation, after all. 

 

"You look lost," he noted, "you need a hand?" 

[Eyru]

IC

 

"I- I suppose I do," she replied to Sajis.

 

"No, I'm not lost," she said, turning to the Toa. "I'm just sightseeing. It's my first time in Onu-Koro."

IC: Sajis

 

"Keep out of trouble and you'll be fine."

[Eyru]

IC

 

"I'm not looking for trouble."

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"Shouldn't we help her out?" Reson asked. "I'm pretty sure breaking up drunken brawls isn't the only duty of the Ussalry. Isn't helping people out a public service we offer or something? Like when you offered me this job?"

"I don't need help," Lira said firmly. "I'm just sightseeing."

"But, I mean, if you want to show me around..."

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"That's completely up to my superior," Reson said apologetically, nodding towards Sajis. "We need to get this lot back to HQ somehow, as well." he said, mostly to remind himself, jabbing a foot in the general direction of the drunkards. He remembered when he'd used to be like that - minus the brawling. He'd never gotten into fights, just drinking contests. Some of these guys even looked vaguely familiar...

 

He turned back to Sajis. "Well?" 

[Eyru]

IC

 

"T-that's okay," Lira stammered. "I'll find my own way around, thank you. Though I didn't catch your name...?"

[Toatapio Nuva]

IC Kirgan

(Onu-Koro):

 

"Yes", Kirgan said, still looking at the scene of the short battle. "Yes, the hospital. Right."

 

It did not take the pair long to reach the hospital. The architecture of the building was comparatively modern and reminded Kirgan of the laboratories used in some parts of the village. He motioned for the Toa to follow him inside. Right at the entrance, there was a reception which Kirgan pointed to. "They may be able to help you."

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"I'm Reson, sonic extraordinaire, and the stern-looking boss lady here is Sajis," Reson introduced himself and Sajis, albeit more flamboyantly than was strictly necessary. "On behalf of the Ussalry, we hope you have an enjoyable time here in Onu-Koro."

"It's nice to meet you," she replied, extending a hand to shake. "I'm Lira."

IC

 

He writes, as he always does, at his desk. It is populated with the usual accoutrements of his craft: quill and paper, black ink and amber drink. One cube of ice.

 

Silence.

 

She enters, footsteps falling like snowflakes on the floor, and wraps her arms around him from behind. He stiffens, then relaxes into her embrace. Replaces the pen.

 

"You never stop working, do you?"

 

A smile. "My work is never done."

 

"And your work is- a 'get well' card?"

 

"I care about my employees."

 

"I know you do."

 

Silence.

 

Her breath brushes the back of his neck. "But how about caring for yourself? I think you should take a break."

 

He plays coy. "And why is that?"

 

She answers without words.

"Uh... hi..." Reson said awkwardly, shaking the offered hand. "See you around, I guess." Letting her hand go with a wry smile, he turned back to the four drunkards, distaste twisting his features. "Now... what the heck are we meant to do with this lot?"

Toa Vesun stepped inside the building, which stood in contrast to many of the older, dome-shaped huts of the Koro. He approached the receptionist with the best expression he could muster. “Excuse me, I need treatment. As soon as possible, for – memory loss. But… I noticed currency in the market. Is there a fee for treatment?”

"Did you want to show her around?"

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"I'd love to but I don't know my way around," Reson reminded her, "I was off-my-face drunk whenever I was in this part of town. I don't remember anything except where the cheap grog is. We're behind as it is, and that's not accounting for us having to drag this sorry lot off to prison," he nodded towards the four drunks. "So unless you want to follow us around while we do that?" he asked Lira.

IC: Sajis

 

"There will be no problems in letting you follow."

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"Okay, cool," Reson said, smiling. "but that still leaves us with the problem of how to carry three matoran and a Vortixx back to HQ. I kinda wish that Toa of Gravity had stuck around a little longer. We could have used his help."

IC: Sajis

 

"I am going to find a sled."

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"Okay, I'll guard the wrongdoers." Reson shrugged. The drunks weren't going anywhere.

IC: Sajis

 

Sajis moved into the nearby tavern. Sounds of argument erupted, before the Fe-Matoran exited with a sled.

[Eyru]

IC

 

Lira stuck around to watch. "I'd offer to help, but I don't think I could lift any one of these guys..."

IC: Sajis

 

Sajis was already pushing a drunk onto the sled.

IC Kirgan

(Onu-Koro):

 

"Never mind the fee", Kirgan interrupted. "I can borrow you enough widgets for now."

 

The receptionist smiled and asked. "What would the nature of your problem be, sir?"

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

Reson picked up the Vortixx and half-carried, half-dropped them onto the sled. That just left the two Matoran he'd deafened earlier.

IC: Sajis

 

"You take the Ruru-wearer. I'll take the other."

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"Up you get," Reson hauled the Matoran to his feet, knowing full well that the guy couldn't currently hear what he was saying. "You just lie down here with your idiot friends and we'll take you off to a nice padded cell for the night. How does that sound?" He unceremoniously dumped the Ruru-wearer onto the sled with the others.

IC: Sajis

 

"Be more gentle," said Sajis, pushing the last Onu-Matoran on. "We don't want to get sued."

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"Sued?" Reson was surprised by this new information. "They can sue us for being rough? Why can't we sue them for being public nuisances?"

IC: Sajis

 

"Yes."

[Nato G]

IC: Reson.

 

"I suppose I have to do all of the dragging?" Reson guessed. He was the Toa, after all. He grabbed the sled and started pulling.

IC: Vesun

“Some memories have been removed. And that’s as intended, I don’t want to alter that. But somehow… it went wrong, and I’m continuing to forget more and more of my life.” He glanced at his stone, unsettled. “Perhaps you can’t recover everything, but I need to stop the spread. Before… before I lose myself.”

“Do you know how the memories were removed?” the receptionist asked.

“A fellow Toa,” Vesun responded, “and a Mask of Telepathy. It was... cleverly used.”

“I’ll, uh– bring you to our mental specialist. He’ll see what he can do.” The receptionist stood up from her desk and gestured for Vesun to follow. “Right this way.”

Vesun looked back at Kirgan. “Come. You still have to lend me the fee.”

IC Kirgan

(Onu-Koro, Hospital):

 

If Kirgan was annoyed by having to pay the hospital fee of a complete stranger, he didn't show it. Instead, he dutifully followed Vesun in the hospital corridors, unsure of what to think about the Toa. There was something about him that intrigued him.

 

After a short while of waiting, someone called for the next in line to enter. There was no one else around, so it would be Vesun.

"Food."

IC: Vesun

Vesun stepped into the specialist’s office, and sat down. “Hello.”

The Matoran didn’t look up, staring instead at the tablet in front of him. “Vesun. Let’s see here…” It took him a moment to read it, then he leaned closer to read one part again. “Well. This is new.”

Vesun grimaced. That can’t be good.

Finally the specialist looked up at the Toa in front of him. “Mask of Telepathy, you say. The theory of telepathy is still imperfect, but I think I understand what happened. If we can get you in telepathic contact with someone again, we should be able to restore your memory.”

“Right,” Vesun acknowledged. “Then we need to find a telepath.”

(Onu-Koro, Hospital):

 

Kirgan waited outside the room for Vesun to return.
