So, I'm curious. Which of you have made someone a fan of Bionicle, after it ended? Also, how did you go about doing it?

In reality, it's not really any different from getting someone into any of the other hundreds or thousands of stories/fandoms/etc. that have ended.

I guess it might just seem harder to us, because we were given the story very serially (not to mention the sets), and there are so many spoilers and stuff it's hard to get people hooked enough to continue without looking up information non-chronologically.

 

But what have been your experiences with it?

I haven't really talked to anyone I know outside of BZP about Bionicle since it ended. I remember mentioning it once or twice at my job, but not to a point to get someone interested in the story or sets.

The closest I got to anything like that is me buying the 2001 sets (matoran, turaga, toa, not the Rahi) and some of the masks, and sending it to my ex, who brought it out and thinks the Matoran are adorable.

I may have accidentally gotten a guy hooked into the story a few years back.

 

He never owned a set though.

 

But he dug the story.

I convinced one guy to play MNOLG in the hopes he'll get into Bionicle. I dont know yet if my endeavor has succeeded.

For getting them into Bionicle, I'd probably say that the story is the more important part.

Recently I helped a friend rediscover the Bionicle story; he'd stopped following it after Mask of Light.

The only people I've ever met with any interest in BIONICLE either were die-hard fans to the end or former fans who lost interest in it long before it ended. As for my non-BIONICLE-loving friends, I've never really tried to sell them on it beyond explaining to them why I like it.

I got my sister to read most of the comics and books a few years ago (like 2011ish?). She said she enjoyed the plots and characters, but thought the actual writing was lackluster (and I agree completely).

 

Not really made an effort to get anyone else into it.
