The UltimoScorp
Hello, and welcome to my first foray into System MOCs! Today I present to you Kenkaku, Scout Mecha, and it's intrepid pilot Maigo! This MOC is made from roughly 350 bricks, give or take a ball joint here and an axle there. The colors are White and Dark Royal Blue. Let's start with the main piece, Kenkaku! Standing an impressive 36 studs tall, this light Mecha is the main star of the battlefield, though only being meant for scouting. The rear is packed with various jump thrusters as seen here. Originally, I wanted them to be angled vents, but couldn't get a connection to work, so reverse tiles had to do it. On the other hand, The feet came out even better than I'd hoped, and are actually my favorite part. Finally, Maigo, the tsundere pilot. That's all for this MOC, let me know what you think in the comments, or even with just a like, and tell me what I could have done better! 5 Quote BZPRPG Profiles The Unofficial Guide to TBRPG Combat! BrickPharaoh
Not bad for a start! Looks a bit too blocky though, so you would have been better off using sloped bricks in some places. Also, it could have benefited from a few textures here and there. Also, no weapons?! Finally, it reminds me a lot of some Mega Bloks robot figures we got all the way back in early 2000's. The UltimoScorp
The MOC is based on Gundam mecha, so that could be why it resembles those figures, as well as it's blocky shape. It's supposed to be sorta blocky! It does actually come with weapons, but.... I haven't built them, and I was really excited to show this off I'm a little confused on what you mean by textures, though, could you elaborate? I haven't built them, and I was really excited to show this off I'm a little confused on what you mean by textures, though, could you elaborate? There are various pieces that you could have used instead of some of the regular smooth tiles for example, like grill plates. Those add aesthetic texture that more closely resembles machine parts or armor. One other example is instead of using a regular 2x1 brick, using headlight bricks and adding some 'angled vents', etc. Or simply adding a few studs or round elements in certain places. Take for example this guy's MOCs. They all make use of certain pieces to add a bit of an aesthetic profile to the robot parts. Another approach you might wish to explore is merging System and Bionicle/HF/Technic. Some builders use such techniques to arrive at outstanding results. Now, I'm not saying these things can just be improvised instantaneously and that your style will improve overnight; it takes a lot of patience and time to develop your own techniques. So just keep pulling parts out of the massive LDD inventory, connect them in strange ways, and see what comes out! LDD is best enjoyed with a dash of boldness, so always be ready to explore new ways of combining parts together Quote "Welcome to Valhalla, Warrior." The UltimoScorp
Ah,okay! More greebling, so to speak? I'll try that in future projects! Thanks for your feedback! Quote BZPRPG Profiles The Unofficial Guide to TBRPG Combat!
