  1. Great MOC! You seem to have a fascination with all things chicken... And in your case the egg definitely came first! Also like how you managed to incorporate all the colours of the Jamaican flag (dunno if that was intentional but I'm glad it happened either way).
  2. "The knight-errant wearily plods on, in search of more desperate souls in need of his aid." Link to Instagram gallery of breakdown shots: https://www.instagram.com/p/CtzuBHnr_Ud/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== This MOC was my entry to Round 1 of the BioCup and, while worthy of an honourable mention by the judges, sadly did not progress on to Round 2. Being thematically compatible with the BBC #81 I've decided to enter it here for a chance at redemption perhaps? Let me know what you think!
  3. Tachyon Thrasher "An alien robot bounty hunter from deep space. Executing his mission with ruthless precision, only for those deemed worthy of his service" My entry to the 2023 BioCup preliminary round!
  4. I really want to see a shot of the crew, they seem like such a wicked looking bunch! I am also p jealous of all these lovely sails you have there XD I really dig the concept, though I wish there were some more bone motifs throughout.
  5. King Mathias and His Royal Guard by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "At long last, His Majesty is crowned! Long may He reign!" Initially built as a spiritual continuation of the Knights Kingdom 2018 collab, this build has now been assimilated into my UK 2022 convention lineup. My display was called: CCBS Kingdom Figures. The build started off with a janky looking prototype of King Mathias, where the challenge was to sort out the appearance of the shoulders. Once I had the concept figured out, I trialled several iterations before I was happy with the end result. The throne draft came together thanks to a spontaneous handful of visits to my local PAB wall and some yet-to-be-sorted BL orders. It was left at 70% done in early 2021, when I first posted an earlier version of this design. Then in 2022, in the week before my first UK Brick Festival (May 2022), I hashed out the Royal Guards, which I aimed to keep simple yet detailed. Finally, the base, initially coming together during one of the slower events I was displaying at, was used to incorporate the entire build. Again, another spontaneous PAB wall visit was the source of all the white tiles I came to possess. Overall I am quite happy with the end result, and will be taking this along to some more 2023 shows before retiring it for next year. I would send it along to the US convention circuit but I don't think it's too feasible for me right now. Here's a link to an Instagram Reel to show you a full 360 view!
  6. Commander Jax Petaflop by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "Let's get this show on the road, folks!" Originally started in August, held out for a while until the fortuitously timely occasion arrived (lol). Happy Lunar New Year!
  7. Thanks, I was originally intent on a completely different visor design but sadly couldn't get it to work.
  8. Dystopea Wolff - Main by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "A bounty huntress from the distant future, tasked with fixing the timeline by the Galactic Order." Been wanting to build this MOC for a very long time, and had a very rough draft of the aesthetics built a few months ago before I left for holiday. Managed to crank the finished version out over the Easter break. A total departure from my regular style, this build was epic fun to make! Let me know what you think!
  9. BioCup 2022 Preliminary Round: The Predator and The Prey by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Fun little (big!) frilled lizard on some sandy rocks. And an unsuspecting meal casually strolls past. What more could you want?! Thankfully, this made it past the prelims. Now onto R1, for a reptillian themed Kaiju (gulp)?! Stay tuned!
  10. The Great Shogun (Samurai MOC 2022) by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Progress shots: https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17895699205452229/ Well, it's been a long and arduous journey with this #MOC, which I consider to be my magnum opus. Head on over to the link above to see how it all started! I've started this MOC over two years ago, and had made substantial progress towards this current version all the way back in Jan 2021, when it was about 75% done. Then life got in the way, and I had to prioritise other things, namely finishing my PhD, moving house, getting married, and a whole lot more. Since January I've been slowly reclaiming back some time for my #LEGO #hobby and I've been really enjoying it as of late. I plan to bring you guys a whole lot more in the coming weeks and months. For now, enjoy this MOC and please let me know what you think! I'll also take this moment to thank my MasterPiece friends for their constant encouragement and support throughout this journey, without whom I'm not sure this would have turned out nearly as good.
  11. A shapeshifting bounty hunter who only has one purpose: to destroy. Full gallery on Instagram here Started work on this early last year but managed to find the time to finish it a couple weeks ago. It absolutely blew up on Instagram, so I thought I'd show it to you guys over here! Please feel free to share your thoughts on this MOC, and more importantly: Stay cool, BBC!
  12. I love this, especially the weapon arm aesthetic which I think you nailed spot-on!
  13. Thanks! Do make sure to check out the rest of the entries to the collab; there were some truly epic reimaginings, personally I can't pick a favourite (mine excluded as I'm only pleased with how Baranus V7 turned out).
  14. Return To Bara Magna Collab Sahmad & Spikit (Baranus V7) by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "Was I afraid? Sure. But just like you could take a Thornax fruit and turn it into a weapon, you can take fear and turn it into anger. Fear is a rock you can hide under. Anger is a rock you can throw at someone else." — Sahmad, Sahmad's Tale Tuma: The Tyrannical by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "I'm going to enjoy tearing that fancy mask from your face." — Tuma to Mata Nui, The Legend Reborn These MOCs were built for a collab titled "Return to Bara Magna", on Flickr/Instagram. The collab has been in motion since September of last year, and we've been working on finalizing the entries for the collab ever since. Links to the rest of the entries are available at the Flickr URLs. Let us know what you think!
  15. *Butter splashing intensifies... One tasy-looking villain right there! I really like how you used the sail as a shirt
  16. Nex by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr ALPHA 1, ASSEMBLE FOR ACTION: >>The Pro >>The Supersonic >>The Behemoth >>The Hotshot >>The Whirlwind >>The Livewire >>The Tech-Head >>The Steamroller >>The Lionheart Let me know what you think!] ~~Stay positive, test negative~~
  17. Bone Thugz Disclaimer: Credit to the photo-editing work belongs to: Scott Wilhelm, on Flickr A band of rugged bandits who seek to wrest control of the wasteland race tracks, whether by air, land, or sea. Having clad their vehicles with the bones of a long-fallen dragon, they are as dreadful as they are fast! Built for Space Rally Racers (Space Jam 2020 Collab category). Dragonwing Sailship by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Dragonheart Racer by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Dragonsbane Wheelbike by Scott Wilhelm, on Flickr Dragonsong Speeder by Scott Wilhelm, on Flickr As indicated in the collab page, I took on the Dragonheart Racer and Dragonwing Sailship, while Scott was responsible for the latter two (Dragonsbane Wheelbike and Dragonsong Speeder.
  18. Glad you liked them too! I'm actually pleasantly surprised with the overall reception of these; after all, they are rather technically simplistic, almost too bland in a way. Nevertheless, Flickr and Insta followers have expressed a real enthusiasm about this "dungeon party" which tells me that I've done something right!
  19. The Trinity of Alderion - MPMonthly Contest Entry "Darren of Wegoathe, the Dagger in the Night ; Sir Tobias of Alderion, the Sword of the Falcon; and Lucinda the Wondrous, the Radiance of Alestia. "These three mighty warriors are our last hope against the shadow hordes of the vengeful Bat Lord Bastille". Built for the MP Monthly November edition, the contest theme being "Medieval". My take was an RPG-style trio of characters, where I wanted to repurpose the CCBS SW prefab pieces as much as I could. It's a CCBS figbarf, but hey at least it's something! Some more stuff coming your way soon (hopefully)!
  20. I see you've picked up on my style now haha. I absolutely love those Ben 10 parts (which you can clearly see by the sheer amount of MOCs using them)! When integrated correctly, they're a great way to add sleek limb segments to a MOC. I especially like the way they integrate with the CCBS SW shells on the lower leg, which is why I've recycled that design several times across my MOCs (probably beginning with Horus). I'm somewhat aware of the fact that I'm becoming a bit of a one-trick pony, but rest assured that I have a few MOCs that are very stylistically different coming this way very soon!
  21. Danger Doll: Dyana by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "Lightning-fast reflexes, an array of deadly weaponry and a quick wit make this robotic mercenary a force to be reckoned with." A relatively quick build with some fun techniques. Getting a bit bored of humanoids tho Main Pose Danger Doll: Dyana by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr That's all from me! C&C appreciated Stay safe, stay sane, keep calm and build on!
  22. It's both functional and aesthetic! It holds the back of the helmet to the front (i.e. the mask). Thanks! I was trying to depart from the old silver and dark/sand green color combo because I wanted to embody a starkly different persona to that of Karzahni. I felt like gold (instead of gunmetal or silver) helped accentuate the contrast. I also love gold on MOCs (I hardly ever MOC without it lol; however, my last few BioCup MOCs have not had a single gold piece, which is quite unlike me XD)
  23. Thanks for your kind words! The gold HF 2.0 parts are from this set: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=4529-1 I've accumulated quite a few copies of this set from random bulk lots (and even bought the loose parts off Bricklink at some point), which is why I have a healthy amount of these gold parts. They're great for a variety of projects I'm planning. Also, the gold armor bits from Ekimu actually first debuted in the Fire and Ice Chima buildable figures. Regarding the cape, I felt like it was a good addition personally, as it helps evoke an ancient, weathered, air around the character. I would have used the Gen 2 Hero cape because it had an interesting design, but sadly I don't have one.
  24. Well here we are, ladies and gentlemen. Artakha - The Forge Lord by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Artakha has always been one of my favourite canon characters. Whenever I used to imagine him, the main characteristics that would resonate in my head would be his aura of elegance. My portrayal sought to depict that element and bring it to focus. Artakha - The Forge Lord by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr He also wields a Warhammer, which I wanted to keep as simple as I could without losing on that unique touch. A side view: Artakha - The Forge Lord (side) by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Back view: Artakha - The Forge Lord (back) by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr And here's the deconstructed view. Tried to dismantle the bigger parts while leaving the sub-elements intact. https://flic.kr/p/2jJDnuR Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this MOC as much as I have enjoyed building it! 25. "The manticore (Early Middle Persian: Merthykhuwar; Persian: مردخوار‎ Mardykhor) is a Persian legendary creature similar to the Egyptian sphinx that proliferated in western European medieval art as well. It has the head of a human, the body of a lion and a tail of venomous spines similar to porcupine quills, while other depictions have it with the tail of a scorpion". -Wikipedia Manticorus Cavernaus (Bio-Cup 2020 Redemption Round 2 Entry) Subtheme: Asian Mythology by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Manticorus Cavernaus (Bio-Cup 2020 Redemption Round 2 Entry) Subtheme: Asian Mythology by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Originally built for RR2 of the 2020 BioCup. After working on it some more, I finally decided it was decent enough to take more photos of it. This delightful RR theme is the best of any BioCup themes in my opinion. It got me thinking a whole lot before I decided on this as the mythical creature to render in brick form. Having only come to this decision around five hours ago (finished at 5:40 am on Friday - 2 hours before RR2 deadline), this has been a fun quick build drifting away from the run-of-the-mill humanoids I've been churning out nonstop over the years. More mythological creatures coming your way soon eventually. Until then!
