My work on Project Mata Nui Rising (where I contribute as an environmental artist) inspired me to also make this. I'll be making a few more cool renders with this guy, (hopefully collabing with someone who can do way better box-art). For this render I chose to copy the original set's box-art (this one. To make the background I took the original image and crudely blotted-out the LEGO set).

Modelling is done with sub-D topology, or to the best of my abilities. I've provided some viewport screenshots so you can roast me on my topology. ^^;

Light Swords or Air Katanas? Solek may be the Toa Mata/Nuva fanboy, but it's Tanma walking (flying?) around with a replica of Lewa's swords. XD

Yeah, so do you remember Project Inquilina? This is basically still that. I'm going off the idea that Matoran have one basic design with exceptions (i.e. diminished, F'd up by Karzahni, pit mutated). The discription of Av-Matoran is that their one major significant difference is that they're taller than regular Matoran, due to the energy of the core area. According to BS01, the Av-Matoran will return to regular size, and become indistinguishable from regular Matoran, when they leave Karda Nui.

Hence the reason I don't switch out the feet. Also, one does not simply remove a Matoran's toes! >:V

Alright, it's time for some Tanma Wallpapers.

The ones I'm uploading here will be jpeg images, if you want the full quality png files you'll have to go to my Patreon. Don't worry, they're not paywalled.

Making the wallpapers certainly was... interesting. The first one is 8k. But the other two are 4k because my GPU with 16 GB of VRAM kept running out of VRAM when using Blender's compositor... ^^;

I had to both downsize my ambitious 8k scale down to 4k, and switch the rendering pipe for the compositor from the super fast GPU to the much slower CPU... which would make use of my 32 GB of system memory.

I haven’t seen Project Mata Nui Rising yet, though it’s in my playlist. I really like this model though! I agree about the inclusion of the classic Matoran feet, and I really like the detail and markings on Tanma’s mask and blades are really cool.
