OOC: Why can't you IC quickly if you have enough time to sit and watch the topic?IC: "Yeah, I got the information he gave Monroe," Karin confirmed. She looked through the entryway to see if she could find him, but she couldn't see much with such a limited view angle. She looked at Jason. "If you're going to check, I'd say do it now. I'm not one for waiting around."

OOCSit and watch the topic? I just got back on. :| However, BZP probably didn't log me off for thirty minutes or so, so that might be your confusion. IC [Xorov, Sunset] Monroe came bursting out the door way walking backwards, holding his crossbow up. Yelling some sort of curse he shot a particularly violent fighter in the foot, then looked behind him at his team. "Ok, let's get going before someone decides to kill us." Monroe looked at his arm, then ripped off a piece of his cloak and tied it above his elbow, a long knife gash running down his lower arm. "Actually, they've already decided to kill us, so let's hurry." Monroe darted off, his team following him, and in not-so-surprisingly quick time they had reached the magic user, who was currently hiding in the alleyway. A Dark Pathway split the air without any words, and they went into it without any other words. OOCOff to dinner; Koth, if I don't get back on for the night, I'm sure you can handle the debriefing with the Emperor.

OOCSorry ToA, forgot about Ronare. Also, your guys should be at Arhtok, being evacuated/helping the evacuation from Mox. IC [Dark Pathway, N/A] "Yeah, don't worry; the medics will get to it." Monroe shrugged, then stopped, as had the magic user. He pulled his crossbow up, in a position ready to fire. "The whispering. It's... it's getting closer." "Let's keep moving." The magic user looked around. "It's happened before; it'll get closer, then drift off into the distance again. We shouldn't be in any danger." "Shouldn't?" "Let's just keep moving." The woman shook, then started up again, Monroe taking the lead behind her with his crossbow ready to fire at anything that moved. [Orcen, Night] "Oh; you must be a recruit. Odd, sending recruits here... what was the key phrase you were told?" "The Maker's wraith." The man's expression darkened. "You're in the right place then; you need to be at the palace though. This is a redirect point, to make sure security breaches don't happen. You can get in the palace with the phrase 'darkness falls under the sea', the guards will escort you to a waiting room; you'll meet your future teammates there." OOCApologizes for hijacking your charie, ToA, just didn't see the point in waiting for the simple response.

OOC: S'all good :P IC: Ronare nodded. "I'll make my way there." He left the room, and the building, taking his horse back. He rode through the city, heading towards the prominent palace at its center. He looked at the building with a sort of awe- it was the biggest he'd ever seen. He dismounted, and walked up to the gate, where two guards crossed their spears to withhold entry. He stopped, and clearly said, "Darkness falls under the sea." He waited to see what would happen. OOC: Apologies for the short IC, in a hurry. I'll introduce the three when i have more time.

Well, would you just look at that?

OOCI love how we're time skipping left and right now xD It feels like the good ol' days in Outbreak! Actually, no, in Outbreak instead of having short ICs and time skips we had short ICs and a page an hour with lots of fighting and stuff instead of intelligence missions. Don't worry though, I've got some plans for some action for all you guys to go do when I'm being inactive. IC [Orcen, Night] One of the guards raised an eyebrow but didn't say a word, instead leading Ronare through vast courtyards, winding halls, and past plenty of extremely expensive decor. They arrived at the center courtyard with the building, the guard opening the door and leading Ronare in. A Dark Pathway sat in the room, the guard staring at it for a moment then yelling at a servant to inform the Emperor that the team was about to return. And return they did, Monroe and the magic user stepping out of the Pathway first before everyone else. "Who are you?" Monroe asked, raising an eyebrow at Ronare.

OOC: True, wish I was around for Outbreak. D= ... And I just realized as I started typing this that I don't have anything to respond to yet. Whoops. ^_^; I'm assuming we're waiting for more Warlocks before the Martin stuff can be advanced? Or for this mission to be over? Just making sure. =P

Or at least not read them so quickly. xD Fail. =P -==IC: Orion==- Orion ran through the portal, surprised that it didn't take as long as before, and landed in the building fairly easily.New guy, huh? Orion thought, as he looked to Ronare for a moment, and then looked away with a frown.

IC: "Hooray, another," muttered Karin under her breath, eyeing this new man."Welcome to the team. I guess. And please don't be slow."She turned to address Monroe. "Commander, I'm starved. Do I have to wait 'till after the chat with the Emperor to grab a bite?"

IC [Orcen, Night] "Ok, well, I'll get to know you later. " He turned to Karin. "Actually lieutenant, I was hoping you could go have the chat with the Emperor." Monroe frowned at his arm, watching the blood carefully. "I hate to leave you alone against the man, but this arm should be hurting by now. It's numb, and that's never a good sign. Might of got a poisoned blade, need to see the medics. Rest of you guys, feel free to mill about, I'm sure it's going be a little while before we get our next assignment. Just don't leave the palace; it's got everything you need here." With that, the man walked off, tightening the scrap of cloth around his arm. The magic user seemed so disturbed that she just left the room as well without any snarky remarks, leaving the team there to do whatever. OOCWander about until I write up my next five thousand word post that puts in full motion the next plot arc. xD Also, yeah, Martin is on hold until the Books of Prophecy are opened, at which point every warlock PC is going be gathered together. He'll have to visit the historian later xD

OOC: Alright then, just checking. =P -==IC: Orion==- Orion watched as the two left."Well that was certainly different." Orion mused, as he leaned against the wall once more for the moment. Orion did look around, however, as he wondered what the others would do.And when our next mission will be. Orion added to his thoughts with a slight frown.

IC: "Hai, hai..." she sighed, a gloomy look on her face. "The rest of you, just hang out in the nearest courtyard or whatever until he or I get back."Karin stepped out of the room and walked down the hallway, practicing her military-style march. She came to the grand doors that opened to the Emperor's throne room. She pushed her way through the centre and advanced through the cavernous hall. She stopped several metres from the Emperor's throne and stopped. She gave a deep bow from waist then began her report."Lieutenant Renard of the Makers' Fist, Your Excellency. Commander Monroe is currently recieving medical attention, so I am reporting in his place. The mission was a success, and went off without a hitch, with the exception of a bar fight started by our contact. Commander Monroe recieved a wound to the arm that he believed required immeadiate attention and so is not here. The information we recieved is as follows: 'There is an attack going on right now, by unknown forces. The warlocks are falling, and evacuating to Arhtok. They are opening the Books of Prophecy.'"The Emperor waited a moment for the present scribe to finish recording what Karin had said, then in a somewhat bored tone, gave his reply. "Monroe was wouded? That is unfortunate. Well your mission was a success, and the news is a bit unexpected. You are dismissed Lieutenant."Karin gave another bow then proceeded to leave the hall.

-==IC: Orion==- Orion had nodded, and simply walked out of the building, and proceeded to stand in the same spot he had this morning, simply leaning against the wall as he waited for further instructions. What the others were doing at that moment, he had no real interest in right at that precise moment.

OOC: Yes, everyone, including ToA's character who finally caught up to us, is in the courtyard in Orcen. =) Not that they're interacting or anything, though who knows, someone might do something silly. It tends to happen. =P And yes, Outbreak's one of Alex's old RPGs. He had three or four of them. I missed them all. D=

OOC: I hear they were pretty good, though as I say, I missed them all. Though, apparently the last one didn't have as much activity or something. And I know if I had've joined, that wouldn't have been much of an issue. But ah well. =P Yeah, that might be a problem with some of our characters. xD Well, unless ToA randomly decides to have his character fly off. But I doubt that'll happen. =P (Don't worry, it's an inside joke from another RPG. =P)

OOC: ugh i feel so bad asking this but, ToA? IC[Jason Hanlon - Orcen] Jason shook his head, entering the courtyard a little after the rest of Maker's Fist, and sighed as he walked through the doors. This was a mission? If this doesn't say something about the current state of our military I don't know what could. Unorganized and unprofessional, and yet the cream of the crop. He decided to blame the Emperor. He took a seat on one of the benches beside the fountain, and reached to his neck. A metallic hiss whispered into the courtyard as the neck brace unclasped, and he was able to slide his helmet over his head. His scars were faint and hard to see in the slim light of the nighttime, but his stern expression wasn't. He was able to keep himself from scowling, albeit just barely, as he examined the rest of his team for the first time with his own eyes.

OOC: OH, ToA as in his initials. myyyyy bad. im dumb today ok. sorry ToA, no beef awight (: anyways did everything already happen? hai ya alex go on aim k.. -.-' or koth haaay budday whats going onnn IC[Jason Hanlon - Orcen] Jason grunted weakly out of restlessness, and lifted his helmet, staring at the red tinted lenses. The right one had a thin 'X' scratched on it. It had originally just been a slash, but he had added in the second, completing the 'X'. The military was woefully under equipped, so even the trashed helmet was an improvement over the stock uniforms, which offered next to nothing in terms of protection. If he had it his way, he'd have the draft abolished. That would free up enough military funding to supply our soldiers with equipment that doesn't make us look entirely bankrupt. He put his helmet in his lap, and looked up. He made brief eye contact with Orion, but his squad mate looked away. Everybody was skulking uncomfortably in their own corners. Brotherhood wasn't much of a practiced concept among the members of Maker's Fist, which was fine with him. Snipers worked in two's, being part of a squad, while not unfamiliar to him, was not preferred.

OOC: Haha, it's good bro! :P IC: Ronare looked around at the team. They all seemed fairly competent. He decided it'd be a good idea to know who he'd be working with. The hunter walked over to Jason, and noticed the helmet. "Well that's... unique. Where exactly did you come by that? I've never seen anything like it," he said, in an inquisitive tone. The man's crossbow seemed quite advanced, so he guessed that Jason focused on ranged combat, much like him. IC(Little before now): Boru swung his hammer in a downward arc, wisps of purple energy floating around the tip as he brought it down hard on one of the creatures, which made almost a squealing sound. He spun around quickly, hitting another across the side. "There's too many of them!" yelled the warrior, swinging his weapon. He glanced over to see Cairye's blade flashing through the air, a spiked metal ball concealing his fist. His hood, with its inner layer of chain mail was down, and he moved swiftly, stabbing, slicing, and crushing the creatures, but more of them came coming. Boru felt something push against him- he had been distracted too long. He smacked at the creature with his hammer, but it kept coming. Then another, and another. He was surrounded. He felt himself being pushed down.... down... All of a sudden, he was lifted, or rather yanked out of the group of creatures by a giant metal hand. Jerry's other metal fist came crashing down, smashing the creatures down, as Roshad controlled the golem from within. The giant nodded its squatted, mouthless triangular head, its glowing yellow eyes focused on Boru. But Boru's eyes were elsewhere. The gravity mage noticed something that had escaped his attention til now- The creatures were reforming themselves. He leaped out of the golem's hand, sprinting towards Cairye, who had also noticed that the creatures were seemingly unkillable, but was still fighting. He lept in next to Cairye, beating away one of the creatures. "They're reforming. We need to get out of here." "I know," replied Cairye. "But what do you suggest we do?" Boru nodded at the other warlocks. "They're preparing to open a dark passage. We need to move that way before we get cut off." "Got it. Back to back?" "Of course." The two stuck their backs together, and while Boru may have dwarfed the metal warlock, Cairye fought just as hard, holding off the creautures as they moved towards the passage. "Roshad!" called Boru. "Grab anyone who can't make it on their own and get them out of here! They're about to open a Passage!" The giant nodded, tearing off the creatures that were on him while picking up any downed warlocks he saw. He threw one over each shoulder and picked up another, before realizing that he had to get out now. Using his free arm, he beat a way through the creatures to reach the passage. The three sprinted into the passage after the others, following them across to bridge to reach Arhtok.

Well, would you just look at that?

IC[Jason Hanlon - Orcen] Hanlon turned his head, and nodded at his teammate. He hadn't seen this one before, but anybody who had the skin to approach him was better then this lot. "Riot armor I salvaged from a campaign over in Xorov a few years back. Had it refurbished by the techies here, said it was a prototype. Officials were fine with me wearing it." He exaggerated. There was no doubt in his mind that if anybody who wasn't of his reputation or stature would get away with breaking uniform, even if it came with such a drastic improvement in safety and efficiency. "Helmet's completely busted, though. Next to none of the features work."

OOCPopping in for a sec to clarify; with this RPG, technology is basically what it would be today if we never had gunpowder or oil. Admittedly, who knows what we'd be like without those two resources, but as a general rule of thumb, if it needs oil or gunpowder to work, advanced engineering/magic will substitute it. That does NOT mean we have cars or the such running off of magic instead of oil; basically, as the tag says, it's a semi-modern fantasy RPG. We do, however, have a few experimental prototype zeppelins in the Empire though.

OOCI never told you? >> << I really need to get use to trusting my co-hosts >.< But yeah, I need to do something in the front post regarding that. As to electricity, what does our power plants run off of? Oil. Without oil electricity isn't practical. Sure, the Europeans have their alternate sources project going on, and solar panels are making great progress, but in this setting, it was never deemed practical and never got any funding. Scientists have been fiddling around with it, but it's never gone mainstream. Also guys, I appologize for the funky formatting of the front post; I'm currently trying to fix it, but BZP's new editor doesn't want to work with me.

OOC: Coal is what was used originally though. But okay. I figured it would be something like that anyway.IC: Karin found her way out into the courtyard from before after wandering the halls for a while. She paused for a moment, taking a moment to realise it was Jason she saw sitting near the fountain. She held herself on making some comment on whether or not it was stuffy with the helmet on and simply announced to the others that the debriefing had gone smoothly and that they had not yet been assigned another mission. She then excused herself, saying that she was going to report to the Commander.

IC [Orcen, Night] "Well?" Monroe asked the medic, who was wrapping his arm up in gauze. "Am I going to live?" "It was a simple poison, nothing to be concerned about." The medic took a knife, slicing the gauze off at a point. "However, I did notice some abnormal swelling in your shoulder. I looked at the files in the palace; you have a crossbow head in your shoulder, correct?" "Yeah, titanium; medics said that it'd be there until I died." Monroe raised an eyebrow. "What's going on with it?" "Commander, I don't think you realize what something being lodged in your shoulder means. You use to be young and fit; you're still fit, but not quite so young. The stress of battle is causing bleeding in the area." The medic sighed. "I'm sorry, but I'm going be forced to make an advisory to my superiors about taking you off the battlefield." "I am not about to get a deskjob as a general." Monroe stood up, barely flinching as he bumped his arm against the table. "I was offered the rank of three dropped general by the Emperor himself; if I can turn down the Emperor, I think I can survive against a board of doctors." "If the Emperor tells you to stop fighting you'll be forced to." The medic shrugged. "You've seen your battles Commander, but they're going have to come to an end soon." "How soon?" "It'll take two months or so to get through the board; enjoy the time you have left Commander."

IC [Orcen, Night] "I heard that." Monroe, having arrived back at the courtyard with surprisingly speed, held his wounded arm at his side, his sword still slightly withdrawn, as though he was still expecting a fight. "Yes, this mission was terrible; it wasn't even a mission, in my opinion. But don't worry, all you crossbow-happy folks. We'll get true action soon enough. From what I understand, the Emperor has been hatching a plan that will have us at the forefront of it. With the Books of Prophecy being opened, we will be needed. I presume all of you remember your schooling, and that when the Books of Prophecy are opened, that means some very bad things happen. For those of you who lacked the Imperial Academy, those books are cursed; they are only to be opened in dire times, and when opened they will unleash 'an ancient enemy.' It also says it will 'summon the Makers to fight for their creation', but the Makers left us long ago so we assume that means something that it doesn't. In simple terms, we are going to go through **** when those books are opened, so sharpen your swords; you'll need them sooner than later."
