Ok, so, if you have the power of stone, can you conjure stones or only manipulate ones nearby? BC in The Final Battle, then Gorast hits Pohatu with her mask powers, he loses control and conjures a stone casing around him. Just wondering

Here's how it works. Toa have a limited amount of elemental energy (though it recharges over time). If they just spend a tiny amount of it they can control their element within a radius near them (exactly how far away is unknown, but probably not more than a few miles).

 

Or, they can send out EE in a beam of energy or whatever and convert it into their element -- so they make more of it. This will use however much EE is equivalent to the size and mass of what they make. So it will spend EE a lot faster. But it will also tend to make for a faster attack, etc.

 

Also, this isn't just about Stone-Earth. That's how it works for all elements. There are countless other examples going right back to the very first year, like when the six Toa Mata shot beams of their elements at Makuta. It's especially obvious for Kopaka and Tahu when not in an icy environment, and flames don't just lay around like a rock does. Also applies to energy powers like Sonics and Gravity, and even Psionics though in that case (as with Shadow) it's creating a fictional element.
