    BrickCon 2017

So cool to hear the Dinotopia books are still getting some love. And that BZP wasn't the only one making Nexo Knights MOCs this year. I remember my BrickCon where we actually left and toured Seattle during Saturday public hours. Maybe if they didn't put our MOCs up against a wall with no chairs...
  3. I'm loving every piece of this! It's incredibly creative, with ideas thrown around all over--a diner, a factory, a car! LEGO needs to make another sci-fi theme, because I'd totally buy these if they were on the shelves!
  4. It was a little...off somehow. And I'm not talking about my Sunday. Friday in particular I had a lot of free time (Thursday was busy yet fun) but everyone seemed to be doing their own thing. It was fun, but didn't compare to past BrickFairs.
  5. I love this idea! Reminds me that more photos of sets/MOCs in environs need to exist. These ones are really clever. You've chosen some great locations and a good range of poses to take advantage of the building system.
  6. I don't know if I can pick one favorite... First would be the chance to be on BZP staff. That's been a highlight of my BZP tenure. Second would be the countless memories made at BrickFair and BrickFest (and the other conventions) with the crazy people that make up this site. I can't imagine the conventions without the community there to make it truly different and special each year. Speaking of craziness, another memory would be helping build the lenticular mosaics last year in Black Six's basement for ten hours! But it was with friends, we had a great time, and the mosaics turned out better than anyone imagined. Totally worth it! -CF
  7. That's fair. I've taken a picture of his back, to show a few more details and that it's not just the Stormtrooper set with a light saber. -CF
  8. Directly from Star Wars #21 by Jason Aaron, Sgt Kreel must prove to his elite Stormtrooper squad that he's the leader for them. Once he pulls out his lightsaber, there isn't any question. I hope you favor him as much as his team does. -CF
  9. I don't know if I'll have something completed by the contest entry deadline, but if I bring a Star Wars baddie to BFVA for the display do I still get a free set?
  10. Touch choice. I think I'll have to vote #2, but will probably buy one regardless.
  11. LOL, SPIRIT do you guys think I should risk doing both? I think I'll actually have time to spare with my temporary schedule. As long as health doesn't get in the way...hmm. I've seen your art livestreams. Drawing one figure doesn't take forever. Now, making art just right in the right mindset on a day you feel like it is different from just sitting down for a few hours and making something. But you probably can make time for both. I know your art better than your writings, but you have a passion for both. Would it be better to do the less time consuming thing first, then do a second if you have extra time?
  12. Thanks. Edited. Someday I'll learn all these names and titles. Until then, I'll just enjoy the experience of meeting LEGO people (and getting their minifigs).
  13. BrickFair New England (AKA Massachusetts) happened a few weeks ago, and hoo boy was there much going on! I easily doubled the amount of sets in my "to be built" pile--and didn't pay for any of them! That's the power of playing games and volunteering. I also met a few new people that will be good to see again at BFVA. Plenty of inspiring MOCs and fun ideas. But what really stood out was meeting all the LEGO Group folks that came to visit from Enfield, CT, which is pretty close by. I met a few people from the social media team, chatted with an employee who handles LEGO Brand Retail Stores about what gets me into the store (like promotions), talked with Strategy Director Jack Clarke for about 20 minutes (and even showed him a few Space MOCs), went to panels by folks like Paul Striefler (AFOL liason) and Tim Courney (LEGO Ideas) Sara Moore (LEGO Rebrick), and attended a very special panel by LEGO CEO Bali Padda who just happened to be in the States this week and was able to spare about an hour on his way to the airport for a Q&A and meet and greet. While Danny is still holding my photo with Bali Padda for ransom, I was lucky enough to get his minifig business card: So I'm pretty pleased with my takeaway from BrickFair NE. -CF
  14. I was just thinking about this, and I would love some more CCBS creatures: Dianoga, Luke/Tauntaun combo, Sarlacc pit, Wampa, Acklay, Chewbacca...
  15. I know you all told me BFNE gets a few extra guests being so close to Enfield, but this is going to be a real treat!
  16. Aww, thanks! Let's see, I built a mediocre Gorilla Grodd last October. I need to take some actual photos of that for Flickr, versus the Flash. Otherwise, yeah, I've got to do more. I've got some Nexo Knights MOC ideas, and way too many Bionicle ones. As for when... Once I get my collection a bit more organized so I'm not overwhelmed in searching for things.
  17. I'm not feeling the bodies, that's for sure!
  18. Only when you're not looking. With sunlight and water. Retail manager. Well that's unfortunate, but a little out of my range of capabilities. College. Though you shouldn't really ever stop learning. Why should they? Yes? Yes? Yeah! I couldn't believe it when it happened, and I still enjoy the bragging rights from it. Paa-zak Sarcasm surrounded by hints. I'm currently looking at the computer screen I'm typing this on. I constantly see people who aren't special, and I wish I could break the news to them. (Hint: It's customers.) Yes.
  19. It's a crazy thought. I've put a lot of time in this website, this hobby, and these experiences! I have no idea what that means. This website.
  20. Almost let this slip by... but my BZPower anniversary is here! I've been on BZPower for more than half my life. Wow! So, ask me anything. -CF
  21. Boat race: tempting! I have the sets. I want to see the canisters go to a good home.
  22. That's really exciting! I offer the best of luck and encouragement for your studies. Sounds like that'll ease up the drive to BrickFair too!
  23. This looks great! I wish I had a chance at getting it. Best of luck to everyone at Star Wars Celebration.
