Welcome back! I'm still around. MOCs here and there. Enjoying the LEGO hobby IRL with conventions and LUG meetings.
-
Correct! The next tricky bit is the Technic watch piece I used to attach them to the alternating joints. I've got instructions on my BrickShelf.

Mosaics of BZP emoticons. That's a really good idea!

#3. I have too many black shirts, and as B6 said, we've never had a purple shirt before.

Are prototypes of sets that look nothing like the final design allowed as inspiration? I'd argue that falls under "these are the designs that didn't make it to the end." But all links to examples showed drawings and 2D art. These first came to mind, along with prototype Kanohi, when I read the topic: -CF

Great entries here (especially 2 and 4), but I'll have to vote for #5.

An Executive Order to Mark a Return to BZPower

Every time I see this video it cracks me up! -
I love the watch and I love the colors. Plus great use of brick separators and thornax launchers on his back. I'm not thrilled with the Inika feet as armor. They sort of stick out, whereas the rest of the armor (especially the legs) is tight and fitting.

I loved the sets. The theme of space-castle was amazing to me. The characters looked cool and each had a unique personality. The pieces were great. That said, I never watched too much of the animated videos. No time, and I was content building the sets, building some small MOCs, and enjoying it for what it was, simply. I wish it was never canceled though.

Oh man. This is so fresh. The colors really pop, but the different parts usage and combos really blow me away.

LEGO Ideas New Year Updates
ChocolateFrogs replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
I really hope those dinosaur fossils pass through to become a set. Maybe a 5-in-1 design to cut costs but still show off all the different skeletons? For the upcoming set reveal, the Steamboat Mickey sounds like an instant money-grab, but LEGO already has the Disney license and I don't know how this falls into the current Ideas IP rules. The candy machine sounds like the most creative and cost-efficient route, sans candy to cut back from an IP, and maybe the LEGO stores could start selling M&Ms or Skittles at the counter. -
Celebrate the 100th US LEGO Store
ChocolateFrogs replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
It's cool that we've gotten 100 LBR stores in the States! But at an average of 2 stores per state, it's unfortunate that some states don't have any. -
The Wolverine one looks great (as do all of them), but the Magneto and Beast masks really stood out to me. Great designs that match the characters.

I don't see any indication that this is online too. There should be signs up, but be sure to mention it at the register as a reminder. -

Set Review: 10758 T-Rex Breakout
ChocolateFrogs replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
The reason for this is obvious, isn't it? Most of the bricks in Juniors sets are bigger on average than in normal System sets, and many of them are printed bricks, complex molds, or both. This has an even bigger impact when you have giant molded, printed, pre-assembled elements like the T-Rex head, tail, and body in the mix, because parts like that tend to be be pricy even in normal System sets. It's basically all the reasons out there for why one brick might cost more than another except for the presence or absence of electronics. For comparison's sake, last year's Demolition Site set was $30, 175 pieces, and weighed 0.56kilograms. Manta Ray Bomber at $30, 341 bricks (nearly twice as many), and still weighed only 0.54 kilograms. Even without considering the other factors like printing or complex molds, it doesn't make sense to expect the same price per piece when the average part in the demolition site weighs more than twice as much as the average piece in the bomber. I realize Juniors have some pricier parts. Which is why I mentioned that, given a few larger pieces, $30 seems more reasonable for this 150 piece set. -
If tie-dye wins (#4), I'll buy a shirt. I'd also like to re-present DeeVee's comment about how we should not have the design be black on whatever color the shirt is. The white or orange designs look great and provide a fantastic contrast to the shirt colors!

LEGO Goals 2018 - Superheroes
ChocolateFrogs replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
I'm definitely getting the Bat-Trike set for the Court of Owls figures alone. So glad they're in a set! (PS, That's Ace, the Bat-Hound!) -
LEGO Goals 2018 - Unikitty

I'll feel the bags and get every ball joint I can find. Multiple Puppycorns may yield me red and black ball joints along with the desired teal and blue, but that'll still get me those ears and inverted 1x3 bricks with peg hole in the bottom.- 1 reply

Toy Fair 2017: XYZPrinting
ChocolateFrogs replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
I've been able to use an XYZPrinter when hosting a Maker Faire at my job. It's pretty impressive. The software is easy to use, especially with adjusting files. I even printed out a few LEGO-like pieces which fit surprisingly well with real LEGO. It has it's issues, or I just need to learn more about the limits of 3D printing, but it's pretty neat for beginners or non-professional final product printing. -
Set Review: 75529 Elite Praetorian Guard

I like the set, though admittedly it just stands on my desk looking cool. Also admittedly that's literally their entire job for 95% of their screen time.
