Toa of Italy
In 2001, the Toa Mata had to search for their Kanohi Masks before facing Makuta. They were told this by the Turaga, who also revealed the location of some of the masks to them. The others were revealed by Matoran, who had mostly heard legends about them.In this case, however, we immediately understand how the Turaga knew about the masks: when they had arrived on Mata Nui they had hidden them themselves (the masks had originally been taken from the Great Temple). As for the legends, it was the Turaga who narrated them to the Matoran, so the link is easy to understand. However, we cannot make the same consideration for the Kanohi Nuva. These were created by Artakha and teleported to Mata Nui after the Toa Mata became Toa Nuva. I can accept the fact that the Turaga learned about the new masks, probably through a vision of Vakama's, but judging from the other visions we know about, it wouldn't have been precise enough to reveal the exact location of each mask. Yet it was still the Turaga who directed the Toa at the masks. So how did they know where to find them? I have tried to come up with an answer, but I can't. I mean, the Turaga might have sought out some of them in advance and then left them for the Toa to find, but we're talking about 30 masks hidden in extremely dangerous places. Surely they couldn't have found them all. What do you think? 1 Quote My collection of epics: The Sanctum of Writing
Pohatu: Uniter of Stone
Maybe Arthaka told them directly or gave them cryptic hints. That's my best guess, this really is a puzzling question when you think about it... Quote I HATE SCORPIOS ~Pohatu Master of Stone, 2015
Pomegranate
It's very simple, really: a little birdie told them (and Nuju understood and then Matoro translated) After all, I'm sure the birds that flew all over the island would've spotted them Edited April 9, 2014 by Pomegranate 8 Quote . Toa Smoke Monster
The only thing I can think of is Vakama having a vision about them, as you said Toa of Italy. I would say that the OoMN had something to do with it, but if I recall correctly the only agent on Mata Nui was killed by Teridax before the Toa Mata became Nuva. Maybe its possible that Vakama had multiple visions about the Nuva Masks, with each revealing hints about the location of a particular one. Then he somehow got word to the other Turaga and they informed the Toa Nuva about them. I know that is a bit of stretch, but its the only thing I can think of at the moment. ALVIS
Yeah, I was rereading Tales of the Masks recently and had the exact same question. Keep in mind that Artakha has the powers of both teleportation and telepathy -- it's unlikely, but possible that he himself told the Turaga where the Kanohi Nuva were hidden. I find it more likely that Vakama had visions, though. Quote "You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. bonesiii
Vakama is depicted as having learned how to use his tiny remaining amount of elemental power to control a bonfire he has going, and this apparently focuses him enough to have such direct control over his visions that he can basically ask them questions. It's possible that when the Nuva appeared with strange masks, he may have gotten a vague vision depicting a search for more, and after that, used this method to search for specifics. Artakha may also have simply teleported a tablet to the Turaga detailed where each was and asking them to keep the tablet a secret. Pomegranate's idea is plausible too, lol. 5 Quote The Destiny of Bionicle (chronological retelling of Bionicle original series, 9 PDFs of 10 chapters each on Google Drive): Part 1 - Warring with Fate | Part 2 - Year of Change | Part 3 - The Exploration Trap | Part 4 - Rise of the Warlords | Part 5 - A Busy Matoran | Part 6 - The Dark Time | Part 7 - Proving Grounds | Part 8 - A Rude Awakening | Part 9 - The Battle of Giants My Bionicle Fanfiction (Google Drive folder, eventually planned to have PDFs of all of it)
Zox Tomana
Hey Bones, where did we get the "asking the visions questions" thing? On BS01 on the Sacred Fire page we have it that it did help him concentrate, but nothing more specific. I think that's probably the logical continuation of learning to focus in the visions, but if he can actually concentrate enough to "ask questions" and direct the vision to an extent I'd really like to be able to update BS01 with that info. I'd need a source before I felt comfortable doing so, though. Quote ~~-BS01 Histories-~~ by Zox Tomana, B.A. - Blog
bonesiii
Asking it questions is how he portrayed it to other people. It isn't actually how it works, but if he concentrates enough it can be similar enough to give that impression to others. So, if he concentrated enough on other masks like the ones he sees on the Nuva's faces, perhaps he could find the answer. I didn't mean to give you the impression he literally talks to the flames and hears an answer or anything like that. It was shown in one of the Bohrok animations, I believe. Zox Tomana
Oh, that wasn't my impression XD I was referring to his ability to find those answers that reliably. Asking the visions (as in, controlling his ability enough to actively seek out answers) not asking the flames (how he passed it off to others).
