The Alternate Universe Game

Master Inika

Vezon never travels to alternate universes and thus, the Adventures of Vezon aren't a thing.

What if the GC happened because of a glitch and all the Toa (and only Toa) went crazy due to a gas that stayed for a few years during an invasion of Metru Nui by the Dark Hunters.

Implying he had it to begin with?

No, let's say that, out of pity, the Ignika gave Vezon the gift of sound thinking when the Toa removed it from him. He awakes after the Piraka leave to find Kardas gone and his spear in pieces. After re-fusing it together, he decides to follow the Toa Inika and resume his original plan of stealing the Mask of Life, now armed with the knowledge that he must not directly touch it.

He catches up with the Toa in the cord, and lies to them that he hadn't wanted to fight them, but was forced to by the Ignika, and now wanted to atone for it by helping them. They are suspicious, but allow him to accompany them. When the Zyglak appear, he uses his spear, fusing several into a monstrosity too huge and misshapen to move, and splitting others between their moderately cruel past selves and their viciously evil current selves, causing them to fight each other.

When they emerge into the ocean, the Toa are changed by the Ignika into Toa Mahri, but Vezon is mutated by the water, becoming a water-breather with his spear fused to his arm. They battle and defeat the giant venom eel, then go to Mahri Nui to request the aid of the Matoran. Believing Vezon to be a Barraki and the Toa to be new Barraki allies, the Matoran attack on sight, forcing them to retreat. The Barraki encounter the Toa and Vezon and imprison them.

Maxilos/Teridax quietly breaks Matoro out, then the other six manage to escape on their own. Matoro and Teridax have their adventure, while the others obtain Cordak blasters and reach the airweed field in time to defeat the crabs attempting to destroy it. Seeing this, the Matoran accept them as heroes and name them the Toa Mahri. Matoro returns and the seven split up to search for the mask.

Vezon is found by Hydraxon and uses his fusion power to split the jailer into a lifeless caricature of himself and Dekar. Zombiedraxon tries to kill the Matoran and Skakdi, but Dekar defeats him, despite being very confused. Vezon introduces himself as a Toa Mahri and leads Dekar back to Mahri Nui, where the other Toa besides Hahli have gathered. They go in search of her and find out Mantax has the Mask of Life.

While the Toa are evacuating Mahri Nui, Vezon sneaks off and finds Mantax. He splits him into his air-breathing old self, which drowns, and his mutation, which swims away, and takes the Mask of Life, careful to wrap it in seaweed, which mutates into a stone-hard shell. The Barraki meet as Mantax instructed, but due to his absence they went in search of him and found his shark-eaten corpse in his lair. They split up and search for the thief.

Vezon goes to Mahri Nui and treads water just above the main air dome. When the Barraki arrive, he threatens to drop the mask into the city's air-filled interior, where they can't go after it. A lengthy series of negotiations ensues, with the five Barraki offering greater and greater positions in their future empires. But before long, Zombiedraxon arrives with a squadron of loyal Maxilos, and they begin attacking the Barraki.

Vezon tries to get away, but Teridax/Maxilos follows him. Ironically, Vezon uses Teridax's own spear to split the Maxilos from his essence, which drifts off into the sea, while simultaneously being hit by a bolt of black fire, which kills the Skakdi. Then the Toa show up, incinerate Zombiedraxon, and find the dead Vezon with the Mask of Life.

When Matoro touches its shell, it turns back to normal seaweed and falls off, allowing him to carry it down to the Great Waterfall. The Toa then destroy the Cord and Voya Nui returns to the Southern Continent. As per Matoro's last wish, they are transported back to Metru Nui and given the ability to breathe air. The Toa Nuva awaken Mata Nui, who fixes Spherus Magna by drawing on the combined power of the Masks of Life and Creation. But legends say that an evil force is stirring in the deep...

EDIT: Oops, didn't see this one was already answered.

Then Vezon would stay in the Chamber of Life, kill all of the Toa Inika, and because of Matoro's death, Mata Nui dies and the Kingdom storyline begins.

What if Krana and Kraata were the same thing?

When Vezon is defeated eventually and seperated from Kardas, The Ignika flies back onto Vezon's head once it was separated, and stays there. Now, It falls to the Inika to drag Vezon to Karda Nui so they can awaken Mata Nui.

What If The Brotherhood of Makuta stayed good (or at least, neutral), and the Order of Mata Nui turned evil instead?

(wouldn't it be the Hand of Artahka?) The over-powered members of the Order, such as Brutaka, Botar, and Trinuma, would probably do substantial damage to... well, everything.

But, Mata Nui would never have fallen (barring unforeseen mishaps) as Makuta would never have poisoned him, and Spherus Magna would be reformed, having all of the inhabitants of the Matoran Universe migrate near the time of the Toa Metru. Also, the Toa Nuva would never be awakened, or awakened later, as Mata Nui was never in danger. Meaning, everything canon happening after the Toa Metru would cease to happen, including the journey to Mata Nui and the forgetting of Metru Nui, the creation of Takanuva, the adventures of the Toa Mata/Nuva, the Toa Mahri would remain Matoran, the prisoners of the Pit would stay in there or escape during the escape to Spherus Magna, the Piraka would be set free to do things similar to their mishaps in BZPRPG, Vezon would never be created, and the Mask of Life would stay in the Chamber until the end of time.

And, it would be impossible for the Great Cataclysm to occur since Mata Nui did not trust anyone in the Order of Mata Nui like his brother, Teridax, but the Order's members might deal some more powerful blows against the forces of good due to their elite members.

Basically, the entire storyline except for 2004, maybe 2005, and most of whatever happened after 2010 would never occur.

What if Mata Nui died rather than falling asleep when the Great Cataclysm occurred?

Teridax underestimated the power of the Great Virus and Mata Nui began to die immediately. But Teridax had had no way of knowing this, since he was trapped in protodermis.

When the Toa Metru returned to Metru Nui, they found conditions growing worse every day they were there. Vakama never betrayed the other Toa, since they knew no one would be able to survive in Metru Nui in a few weeks. After the Coliseum Battle, the Toa were surrounded by Visorak, led by Roodaka. They announced to her that the world was collapsing and that the Horde was doomed if it remained in the city. Roodaka ordered the Visorak to attack anyway, but instead they turned on her for leading them to their deaths.

After the Toa were healed by Keetongu, Nokama spoke to the Visorak and arranged with them that they would take the Matoran spheres to Mata Nui while the Toa tried to save the universe. The Rahaga inform the Toa of the legendary Mask of Life hidden in the Southern Continent. Nuju reads the stars and learns that it has moved upwards, to the same world as Mata Nui. The Toa go there in an airship and meet Axonn and Brutaka, who are still united. They escort the Toa to the 777 stairs.

The Toa make it to the Chamber of Life and defeat Fenrakk, taking the mask. The mask allows Whenua to take it, and they return to the surface, where Axonn explains that the mask requires a sacrifice, and that it has chosen Whenua. After the Toa evacuate the Matoran of Voya Nui into the caves, Whenua travels through an Olmak portal to Karda Nui, where he is sacrificed to save Mata Nui.

Axonn and Brutaka return with the Toa to Mata Nui. They return the Matoran to Metru Nui, and Axonn uses his energy power to awaken them. They have not yet been diminished or lost their memories. Botar sends Teridax, still caged, to the Pit. Axonn explains that for Mata Nui to awaken, a destined team of legendary Toa must arrive, but they seem to have been waylaid.

The Toa try to keep from the Matoran that they have no way of knowing when or if the new Toa will arrive, but word leaks out and a Matoran sets out to find them. He sneaks off to Mata Nui, finds the six Toa Stones and gathers them together, summoning the Toa Mata.

The Toa Mata are given their tasks by Axonn. They awaken the Bohrok, DON'T kill the Visorak (seriously, why?), and go to Artakha. But when they get to Karda Nui, the entire Brotherhood and its army is waiting for them. The Toa are captured and given infected masks, then brought to the Pit and forced to free Teridax with their elemental powers. The infected Toa are then sacrificed to reawaken Mata Nui, allowing Teridax to take over.

Mata Nui is banished to Bara Magna, where he finds a peaceful land divided into five tribes. Using information from the Great Beings' laboratory, he rediscovers his purpose and re-powers the prototype titan robot. Teridax fights him and almost wins, but Vakama uses the Mask of Time to slow down the entire Matoran Universe long enough for Makuta to get hit by a moon fragment and die. Mata Nui fixes Spherus Magna, the end.

  • 3 weeks later...

When the Mask of Light falls out of Jaller's bag on the Kolhii field, he shoves it with his foot and it casts its light on Takua. Takua is declared as herald, but Jaller, tired of the mere Chronicler getting all the glory while he, the Captain of the Guard, gets little, appoints himself as Takua's bodyguard.

They set off on their journey, Rahkshi destroy Ta-Koro, they go to Le-Wahi, then Ko-Wahi, then Onu-Wahi. In the caverns, Makuta appears to Jaller and reminds him that his duty is to protect Takua, then warns him that he will kill Takua unless Jaller turns over the Mask of Light. Jaller keeps this to himself until they get to Onu-Koro, but after the two Matoran escape a Rahkshi attack he tells Takua he must leave, using his inability to defend him from the Rahkshi as an excuse. Takua vows to find the Seventh Toa himself.

Alone, Takua makes his way to Kini-Nui, but the Rahkshi appear. Fortunately, the Toa have tracked him down and arrive just in time to save him... almost. The Turakh escapes them and steals the Mask of Light by paralyzing Takua with fear, then carries it off to Makuta. The Toa decide to face Makuta, as they have done before, and take back the mask, and task Takua with organizing the defense of Kini-Nui until they return.

Takua hurries to Ga-Koro, which is also where the Ta-Matoran have evacuated to. He informs all there, including Jaller, that the Rahkshi stole the Mask of Light and the Toa are entering the Mangaia to reclaim it. Jaller orders the Ta-Koro Guard to immediately march to Kini-Nui and defend it, but tells them he will not march with them. He privately tells Takua that he wants to atone for his failure by following the Toa to regain the Mask of Light, no matter the risk. Takua agrees to go with him as his Chronicler.

The two of them use the defeated Kraata as guides to enter Mangaia and find Makuta. They reach his inner lair, and find him standing over the corpses of the Toa, holding the Avohkii. He laughs, telling them he will make them a deal: They can have the Mask of Light if they beat him in a game of Kolhii.

Terrified, Jaller and Takua have no better idea than to accept his terms. Makuta places the Mask of Light within a dark shrine behind him, then the game begins. Makuta is able to outplay the two Matoran with little effort, dodging their shots easily and making halfhearted attempts to hit them. After a minute, Takua catches the ball, then ducks behind a pillar and quickly explains his plan to Jaller. When they emerge, Takua races towards Makuta and performs his signature flip move... as a distraction, because he'd given the ball to Jaller, who launches it and hits Makuta directly in the chest.

Makuta is stunned and weakened, and at that moment Takua notices the dead Toa vanish and then reappear. He realizes that the bodies are illusions, and takes the next ball from the protodermis pool. Makuta has recovered and prepares to defend himself, but instead Takua fires the ball at one of the room's pillars. Tahu breaks free in a burst of fire and uses flame to destroy the next pillar, which frees Pohatu, who frees Lewa, who frees Gali, who frees Onua, who frees Kopaka.

The Toa begin launching elemental attacks at Makuta, who panics and fires shadow bolts in all directions. While this is happening, Jaller sneaks past and takes the Mask of Light from the shrine. Eventually Makuta shouts in frustration and then seemingly vanishes into thin air. The winners celebrate, but only briefly, because it is soon clear that Takua was hit by a shadow blast and is severely injured. Jaller runs to his side and tries to help him, but Takua doesn't get up. He smiles, and as he points up at the Mask of Light, his last words are, to Jaller, "I found you."

Jaller hears the hiss of the Turahk, enraged by the disappearance of its master, running out of the shadows. The Toa, battered and drained, raise their weapons, but Jaller puts on the Mask of Light and is transformed into the Toa of Light. He fires a beam of light at the Turahk and defeats it. Then the seven Toa leave Mangaia, bringing Takua's mask, and bringing the good and bad news to the Matoran and Turaga.

The Matoran return to Metru Nui, and the Toa Nuva leave to find the Kanohi Ignika. But after a while, the Matoran get uneasy as to what Jaller and the Turaga might not be telling them. Eventually Hafu, after getting no information out of Onewa, reassembles the Chronicler's Company and each Matoran tries to get their Turaga to give them some clue. The only one who succeeds is Tamaru, who manages to convince Matau to tell him where the Toa have gone and why. The Company then decides to leave and find the Toa.

The Company reaches Voya Nui and becomes the Toa Inika, who do all the Toa Inika stuff, become Toa Mahri, one of them is sacrificed, you know how the story goes.

If Mata Nui were attacked during his voyages by some external enemy.

The Toa Mata are dispatched to prevent the Menace from doing any damage to Mata Nui's body. However, Makuta Teridax strikes down MN when they are fighting the foe, and the Toa are left stranded in space. After the year of peace that Makuta gave the people of Mata Nui, The Aliens attack the Island, and Inadvertently bring the Toa with them. So now it's The Toa and Matoran of mata nui against Makuta's forces, both against the aliens. 2001's storyline is now a 3-way war that is now really complicated.

Jaller tries to pick it up, but it's anti-Makuta proof coating causes it to blast Jaller. Upon finding the mask, The Toa decide to destroy it. The rest of the story happens, and at the end, The battle with Takanuva and Makuta is a lot shorter due to Makuta's lack of power without his mask.

The Toa code would be changed to allow killing, but most Toa would opt for non-lethal shots or trade in their weapons for something more practical.

Also, I forgot about the everything-not-Makuta-proof coating. Oops.

What if Jaller found the Kraakhan around the same time Takua found the MoL, but Makuta never knew about the mask and never tried to protect it from being worn by non-Makuta?

The two Matoran would find the masks and bring them to the Kohlii match, but here, both masks fall out. The Toa and Turaga, recognizing the Kraakhan, denounce Takua and Jaller as Makuta-worshippers and attempt to exile them, but they escape on Pewku.

When they find Graalok the Ash Bear, Jaller reaches for his Kraahkan to hit the Ash Bear, but misses his swing and hits Takua with the mask. The mask is lodged in Takua's face, and Takua becomes a Toa of Darkness, effectively a Makuta. He reaches for the Mask of Light, but Jaller jumps in the way, grabbing the Mask of Light. Takua uses his powers of shadow to infect Jaller, turning him into a Makutoran (:?) and destroys the Mask of Light.

They return to Ta-Koro, where they find the Toa near defeat after the Rahkshi attack destroying the city. They kill the Toa easily, and without the Toa or the MoL, Teridax reigns supreme, Mata Nui dies, and the Matoran live their lives as slaves under the control of Makuta.

What if another Toa team was already on the island of Mata Nui when the Toa Mata came?
