I'd like some help designing my first character

so i've always admired the people who can make unique designs for their original characters but i am not good at that so i settle for the simpler designs.

however, my bionicle collection is kind of small so i caved and downloaded the LDD thing that i see a lot of people use.

i find it sort of hard to navigate but after a little practice i was able to get a character started.

i plan on using this as a template for the general shape and idea of how i want to make this thing.

of course this current iteration is on the small side and doesnt use very many pieces. its basically just a warm up and an outline lol

do y'all think i should keep the tail? when i scale it up i would make it look like armor plating even though thats very over done right now

do you like the concept of 4 legs? i always like this centaur-esque body form but im not sure how other people feel about it.

personally i like the black/white color scheme (i have a mild form of color blindness but lets not get into that) but im open to any other color scheme, possibly one that goes with an element.

speaking of elements, if i did give it an elemental attribute it would most likely be stone, then i would probably make it plain brown

but im not sure what the lighter color should be. tan is also overdone but i like the way it looks with brown lol

Hi Tentalones, congrats on posting your first MOC, and welcome to the community! :)

I like what you have there, it's relatively simple, but it looks like a nice little monster! :P

A general advice, one that I stick to usually for the sake of fun, is to give the Moc as much articulation as possible, so I would find a way to add on to /replace the white Avtoran limbs you're using there.

Since you said you like the centauresque build, I would suggest maybe  moving the arms up would look a little better, and I personally would give it a more spider-like leg feel since Bionicle legs never looked good when multiple were used, at least to me.

Hope that helps, good luck and have fun MOCing!

Av-Toran limbs are well known for being quite terrible. Not only are they awkward to use, the don't work well with many armor pieces and break easily. CCBS is the new building system used by Hero Factory and the Ultrabuilds. They use an armor connection with ball joints, and I see you have used some for the tail. They are highly useful and are very sturdy.

I HATE SCORPIOS

I really like this small version it makes for a great planing moc. (never thought about making a smaller version before a big version) I think get rid of the claw hand on the tail and add a regular bionicle (non fist) hand then you can do much more with the tail in a big version

one day this will contain greatness only the best. But take this with the ocean of salt then you will know what to expect from this

i ended up putting the spider creature on hold until i got better at navigating LDD

so i made this humanoid creature and i have to say that i do not know the best way to use the CCBS parts lol

is this a step in the right direction?

i didnt like any of the chestpiece armor that was available so i went with this messy looking combo lol

i dont like these weird chunky armor looking pieces that fit on arms and legs.... especially because they all look gross

Here are the BBC rules on such topics:
"No 'preview'/'teaser'/WIP topics. You cannot post a topic just to say that you will have a MOC soon, or post a topic with only a silhouette of the MOC or an otherwise intentionally obscured picture. As well, you may not post a topic with a MOC in progress (a 'WIP') with intent to repost the finished product later on in a new topic after getting comments, criticism and ideas on how to continue the MOC."

I'm going to bump this over to LEGO Discussion. However, once you have a final, completed MOC to show, feel free to post a new topic here in BBC.

Thanks!
