Perhaps I missed something obvious, or maybe this is general know-how, but how do I make a quote without quoting the entire post? What does "multiquote" do? How do I post a link?

When quoting just part of a post, you can simply highlight the part you don't want and delete it. Multiquote enables you to quote multiple posts at once. You post a link by pressing the link button, QMcMP9I.png, and typing the URL you want to link to in the dialog that appears. You can also highlight text and do that to make the text a link.

If you don't wish to quote the entire post, just delete the bits you don't want. Either that, or click the quote button in the editor and just copy-paste text into there.

Multi-quote is for when you want to quote multiple posts in your reply. Click the button on all the posts you want to quote and then click on the button that pops up in the lower-right corner of the browser. If you clicked one the wrong quote or change your mind you can click again on the MultiQuote button for a post to un-check it.
