sydorack
Just the other day I found and got this off ebay. I don't remember seeing them around back in 2005. I wonder how common they were? It was sealed but I have since opened it to see the mask and assemble vohtarak. I already have sidorak so I left his box sealed. He came inside his normal box inside this larger box.
Nidhiki of the Shadows
Really cool packaging. I think the rarest part of this set is that Vakama Hordika mask. Can't recall seeing that anywhere else (unless it was part of the Halloween costume?) -NotS

Bluest-of-Jayys
I feel like I might have heard about it at one point, but I've never seen it before. Love the combination of products, though... if I spotted it in '05, I probably would have gotten it. Quote WHAT'S UP, BUTTERCUP???

Cheesy Mac n Cheese
I've seen this before. I have that mask (though it's all crushy-looking now). Got it at the LEGO Imagination Center at the Downtown Disney Marketplace in Walt Disney World, spring break of 2006. I don't think it fits an adult head, because it's connected to the head via two halves of a snap device on elastic straps, and i tried to put it on recently and the elastic wouldn't stretch far enough. Toa Smoke Monster
I've never seen this combo pack before. Same goes for the mask. I don't think I've seen a box/canister set combo before like this, so its a neat find IMO. Quote Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story. It's not a very comfortable mask to wear, and the eye slots are pretty wide, making it hard to see. But it's does indeed fit on my head. I'm not big on keeping sets I have sealed unless it's a duplicate, and even then I'll usually open them for moc parts.
Munty
If you happen to come across more sealed sets in the future I'd advise selling them on to collectors. You'll help the community and be able to replace the set several times over with the money you make from it. Why throw away those dollars hey?! Thanks for the link but sadly I'm in the UK and I don't think he ships here. Bit pricey anyway, trying not to go crazy with buying right now and I'm still haemorrhaging money somehow Quote Check out my Bionicle store on Bricklink here!> > > Bionic Bricks < < < Let me know if you can help me find these last few collectibles! Also looking for WILD KRAATA and a VMKK Yo!!! Legos are really the only thing I do collect, but they're Legos so I like to open them and put them together. I understand why someone would want sealed sets to leave them sealed, but I don't see what's wrong with opening an older sealed set, especially when I'm an adult who's passionate about this stuff. Xan
Exactly, there is no fun in keeping something sealed. The only time I keep something sealed is if I already have another copy.
Cheesy Mac n Cheese
I have a sealed Gelu. I don't have another copy, but I can't decide whether to open hm or not. I've seen sealed Gelu canisters sell for high prices. There's one on eBay now for $69.99. I've considered buying a used Gelu for cheap and selling my sealed one for a lot to make a profit as I don't care if a set's used at this point as long as it's complete and in good condition. I also have several sealed European promos and McDonald's Phantoka/Mistika. Back on topic, there's one on BrickLink for $89.95, but shipping costs $30.50. Brick Picker lists its new value as $12.00. 1 Quote My friend went to Po-Wahi and all I got was this lousy rock. Munty
The prices of sealed sets ARE ridiculous, that waqs exactly my point. I don't keep things sealed either (except in very special cases) but it makes way more sense to sell a sealed set and replace it ten times over with the proceeds than to open it and ruin it's value while at the same time depriving another collector of a sealed set they would've loved to give a new home to... 1 Quote Check out my Bionicle store on Bricklink here!> > > Bionic Bricks < < < Let me know if you can help me find these last few collectibles! Also looking for WILD KRAATA and a VMKK Yo!!! Cheesy Mac n Cheese
As for leaving sets sealed, LEGO stuff doesn't make as much sense as, say, regular action figure. This is because toys like action figures usually come on a blistered cars or a box with some kind of window you can see them through. With LEGO stuff, it comes in boxed, polybags, and canisters, so you can't see the actual toy, and it's a construction toy, so it would be in pieces anyway. So while it's rewarding to own and look at a sealed Marvel Legends action figure (those things are awesome, by the way), with LEGO sets, you're just looking at a box. Cheesy Mac n Cheese
I was searching for Japanese-exclusive combiners when I found this. A Japanese combo pack that includes at least Kopaka Nuva and Lewa Nuva. Unfortunately, it's from a Japanese auction site, which means it's long gone. I found it on Google Images and clicking the "View image" button gives me this: Anyone know what it is? Jobber
The only things I have been keeping sealed is that Hero Pack and the NYCC Tahu Mask, so I just open the sets and put 'em on my shelf. Though, I'm probably going to keep Darth Vader, General Grievous, and the Storm Trooper figures, that are coming up sealed 'cause Star Wars sets usually have a high re-sell value. If you want to buy and open sealed sets then that's up to you. I'd never tell anyone they're wrong to do it if that's how they choose to enjoy this stuff. As a trader though I like to make my money work for me so I see no point devaluing a set by opening it when it's just as easy to sell that one set sealed and use the proceeds to buy another five sets (including the one you sold) I don't see how anyone loses in that situation. I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong if you disagree, it's just a matter of opinion. I usually like to buy things sealed 1 to guarantee the parts are undamaged and the set is complete and 2 because buying used Legos is slightly gross.
