My Campaign Slogans

I've decided that in three years I'm going to run for President of the United Mates. Lovely group of people who are all buddies and all get along with each other. Here are some of the campaign slogans that I'm considering:   "Read my lips: no new nucular weapons. . . please applaud."   "Jean!"   "They hate us cause they ain' us."   "We are number one! Hey! Hey!"   "POWAAAAAH! UN-LI-MI-TED POWWAAAAAAH!"   "Dew it!"   "I'm never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around.

Not to be confused with Wonder Woman

This year contains the following movies:   Wonder Wonder Wheel Wonder Struck A Fantastic Woman   None of which are Wonder Woman. I wonder if the names are a coincidence.   Oh, and they're apparently all awards bait, which makes me want to see the real deal beat them to the podium.   Additionally, Logan Lucky is in no way related to Logan. It's just a coincidence. I think.     24601

It Review

I watched this movie because I heard good word of mouth. Prior to the movie coming out, there wasn't much buzz. It was just some movie coming out later this year, which a date that I didn't bother remembering. And yet somehow, it grossed $123 million domestically on its opening weekend, more than any other movie this year except Beauty and the Beast and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. War for the Planet of the Apes didn't even gross half as much on its opening weekend, nor did Dunkirk, Cars 3, a

Obi-Wan's Age

He's 38 in Episode III. Which would make him 57 in Episode IV. In these movies, Ewin and Alec were 34 and 63, respectively. So basically, over the course of 19 years, Ewin would have to age about 29 years in order to look like Alec, or in other words he would have to age 33% faster than normal. I find that believable because my father went from looking like he was in his early-20's in his late 30's to looking like he was in his late 60's when he was in his early 50's. So basically, in about 15 y

Episode IX: Return of the Abrams

When Episode IX lost its director, the first thought that came to my mind, as everyone knows, is "UN-LI-MI-TED SPIELBAAAH!" It probably wouldn't have been the best choice, given how busy he is, and also considering that his cinematography, while absolutely amazing, tends to be a bit more fluid than STAR WARS'. For those who know his tricks of the trade, they know what I'm talking about, what with the lighting, his tracking shots, his master shots, and his framing techniques. They're a quintessen

Episode IX delayed until December

So it looks like it's going to wait for a little over another half year before it's released. Again, because of the drama with the director. Hopefully this means that it will be extra good, and honestly, I'm not complaining.   Wonder Woman 2 was also going to be released in December 2019, but now that's obviously going to get pushed back. No studio in their right mind would want to compete with the God of Blockbusters. Speaking of Wonder Woman, her HISHE came out, and my absolute favorite part i

Looters

I don't know you personally. I can't see into your hearts, and know whether you're good to your neighbors in your daily lives. Perhaps this storm has only brought the worst in you. Regardless, stop it. What you're doing is wrong, and disrespectful to all who have lost so much.   On a side note, I would like to wish my sister a happy birthday. Ironically, I had phone conversations with just about everyone else in the family but her. Man, I feel pretty bad about that. However, I think that

Just Watched "It"

I know that some people are going to find this hard to believe, but when I was halfway home a balloon randomly floated down from the sky and landed in front of me.   Review in a couple of days. But if you want a long story short, there was none. As in, no story. The film is mostly just a bunch of random events. And it's also not scary. I would be disappointed, but I had a good time. Perhaps I annoyed the people in the theatre with me, but I openly laughed quite a few times.     24601

GREAT NEWS FOR WONDER WOMAN

It's official, the first major female superhero film has grossed more domestically than even Iron Man 3! It's currently sitting at #5 on the all-time domestic box office list. The only films to gross higher are either Batman sequels or about the Avengers. Way to go, Princess of Themyscira!   24601

Harvey and Irma

Harvey and Irma Schluter have been married for 75 years. That's an insanely long time. I'll be lucky if I even live that long. He's now 104, and she's 92. They've seen just about everything during their lifetimes, and now they've got to see two of the most damaging hurricanes in history come back-to-back, sharing their names. Fortunately, they live in Washington, so they're not getting pelted over the head with any sort of irony at the moment.   Anyway, glad to see how seriously the state o

Hurricane Irma

"I cannot stress this enough, do not ignore evacuation orders. Remember, we can rebuild your house, but we can't rebuild your life." - Governor Rick Scott   Harvey's death toll now stands at seventy. That's way too high. And I don't merely want fewer deaths, but no deaths at all. The only way to guarantee this is if everyone evacuates far enough in advance.   24601

Episode IX loses Trevorrow

So Trevorrow left the production of Episode IX.   Dude. Disney now's your chance.   Now you can hire Spielberg.   Dew it.   GET TO THE SPIELBAH!   SPIELBAAAAAH! UN-LI-MI-TED SPIELBAAAAAAAAAH!   And that it how language changes over time.     24601

English is Muggle

Well, not quite muggle, but totally mud-blood. Like, it was this pure Germanic language, and Low German was this ultimate language of fantasy and adventure. Also, Danish, because of Hans Christian Anderson. Awesome, magical and whatnot. And then weird stuff happened. Invasions of the Normans, French-speaking upper-class, et cetera. Now it's bizarrely confusing and complicated. There are even more complicated languages out there, and I've done some research on them, but it still sucks that

Why is French Romantic?

We all know the stereotype. French is a highly romantic language. It's sexy. But honestly, I don't get it. It doesn't sound ugly or anything, but I don't get the romantic connotation. And honestly, I have my biases, so when I hear the French language I think of a rude person with cigarette addictions who can never get his/her mind our of the gutter. That's not romantic, just sleazy. And of course, that's only a stereotype as well (but Titanic didn't do the French people any favors with th

RIP Jerry Lewis

I just found out that he died less than two weeks ago, on August 20. He lived a long and glorious life. Successful as an actor since the mid-40's. What a legend. Happy that he got to experience so much out of life, sad that death comes to even the greats.   27601

The Strongest Possible Terms

Have you ever noticed that whenever world leaders have to condemn something, they do so in the strongest possible terms? That is, the exact term that they use is "the strongest possible term." And they say it like they're bored.   I don't think that they know how strong terms works. If you're going to use the strongest possible terms, it would sound something like: "You little ******** who likes to ******* like a complete *******. You ******* like *******. I swear, if you ******* I'm going to **

Hurricane Harvey (entry #3)

A few days ago the death toll was in the single digits, and I was very happy that it was so low. It has since risen to 30, and unfortunately will continue on rising, but hopefully not by much. I insist on believing that one day we will get so good at dealing with hurricanes that we will not have any deaths whatsoever.   My hat is off to the remarkable people of Texas for turning out in overwhelming numbers to volunteer help to those in need. You are heroes and messengers of hope.     24601

Tattoos on Children

Would it be considered political if I said that I believe that it should be legal for a child, with his or her parent's consent, to get a tattoo? Some mother got arrested lately because she allowed her daughter to get a tattoo. Furthermore, tattoos were actually introduced to the Western world less than two hundred years ago from Polynesia, where they hold incredibly important cultural significance. Are you going to person from a Native-American, Polynesian, African, or other culture where tatto

Hurricane Harvey (entry #2)

There are more updates, so I'm able to do more than simply acknowledge that it's going on this time.   Anyway, the good news is that there's only eight fatalities. It could have been a lot worse. New technology has also helped get people to rescue faster who need it the most. For example, an assisted living home populated by wheelchair-bound elders tweeted out a photo of their predicament, and rescue got to them right away. That's great! I'm not seeing the most comprehensive coverage, but t

Tiki Torches

So a nearby college had a block party. I got curious to see who all the new freshmen were. They had tiki torches.   I flinched.   Perhaps we should lay off of tiki torches for a while.   24601

I'm sure it will put a dent in the daily routines of Texans.   ...   Look at what you did, Mother Nature! You made me make a lame The Dark Knight reference!   24601

Ah, Shaddup James Cameron!

So James Cameron decided to criticize Wonder Woman as being a step back for women. I mean, he did bring up somme legitimate points. You know, she's pretty and likable and whatnot, and I get how that doesn't represent everyone. What gets me is that he specifically starts using it as an opportunity to talk about how he created arguably the best female hero of all time, Sarah Connor.   Don't get me wrong, I completely agree. Sarah Connor is cooler than Wonder Woman. Either she or Ellen Ripley
