I Miss....

Singing along to songs on the guitar around a fire with friends on one of those really clear nights where the stars are super bright and it's just so dang wonderful.

Whosawhat?

I don't know what just happened or even what that was for, but I just got interviewed by two people on camera while I'm sitting here going through my email in the art building. Like completely at random, no, "Hey can we ask you a few questions" but more of a "Hi, why are you here? What's your major? Do you go to sporting events here? Wait, you do track? What do you do? You vault? That's really cool. So, if you had to choose between art and track, what would you go with?", and it just became the

Classes

I don't know why I'm posting this, but here!   Art History I: The last of three art history classes I have to take. Mind you, because of weird scheduling issues, I ended up taking them in the order of II, III, and then I. So, one more term of listening to Cory hate on paintings of ponies. Oh man, lol.   Principles of Marketing: I have to take this for my communication minor. I'm not entirely sure how it's going to go, but it seems pretty interesting based on the textbook.   Public Speaking: This

Eastward Bound

Going back to school tomorrow, as well as moving into the house I'll be staying in for the school year. Man, year three already? And I'm a junior or something? Wow. We're leaving at 7 AM (blahhhhhh), and I realized that in all of the stuff regarding the house, my two roommates and I never figured out anything in regards to getting internet service there. Right now, I'm not entirely sure when I'll have consistent internet next beyond using the wi-fi on campus to check up on things, and we'll see

Transient Cat

Anyways, I am bogged down with photos (again). We took Shep, our very very old golden retriever, to visit my mom's school so her fourth graders could meet him, and I took (as usual) a lot more photos than I should. In the meantime, here's a random photo I took of a transient's kitten while in downtown Portland a few weeks back. It's kind of cute, but at the same time, kind of really sad, but it looks so happy playing with that bit of cardboard.   Three days until I head back to school.   Packing

Shoes, Bottles, And Umbrellas

10"x10", acrylic on canvas   Noooo, the internet crashed and deleted the first version of this. Bugger.   Ok, in a nutshell: I don't go back to school until the 24th. Right now, I am getting rather cabin feverish, as I pretty much just sit at home all day and pretend to try to edit photos while talking to nice people online. This is great up to a point when I realize that as much as I absolutely love talking to people online, the photos are starting to drive me bonkers and there's nothing else t

Please Remember....

Don't become a monster in order to defeat a monster. We are all human, and attempting to turn another person, group, or community into a monster via a lack of evidence and blindingly obvious misconceptions tends to instead turn on its head and make you the monster.

Blog H Q

We're updating the Blog HQ: dusting it off, putting another layer of paint on it, getting some new furniture, the works. Once we're done, it should be much more streamlined, much nicer to look at, and overall more helpful for everyone.   So, go check it out! The blog staff will update a new entry with any new rules, and then after a certain amount of time, delete the entry and add the rule to the blog rules entry. Hopefully, this will keep the blog HQ as well as the rules and guidelines much eas

Brickfair 2010

(click for a biggerish version)   Just a silly little thing that has been slowly pieced together in my mind since mid-August. I miss BrickFair, and so many of the people there loads right now. While I'm excited for the upcoming BrickFest (which I hope that many people I know will be able to attend!), I am really hoping that I'll be able to go to BrickFair 2011. My mom's attitude is that there is no way at all that I should go ever again, but I feel it's more of a money issue, than anything. So!

Glasses For Contacts?

I went to the eye doctor for an annual check-up yesterday (where lo and behold, my nearsightedness actually improved slightly?), and ended up deciding to go back to wearing contacts more often. I ended up mentioning to the doctor that the main reason I didn't wear contacts much was because with contacts, it bugged my eyes and would give me a headache when I was reading or on the computer, as I couldn't take them off like I usually would with my glasses. She suggested that I buy a pair of inexpen

Lego Summer Tour....?

My friend called me this morning to tell me that "There's a LEGO thing going on downtown in Pioneer Courthouse Square, and it made me think of you, so you should go and check it out".   From the info I found on the LEGO site, apparently the LEGO summer tour is mainly for promoting the new LEGO games, as well as to "see all 10 new LEGO Games, play games against other familes for a chance to win cool stuff, and Guess the Number of Bricks in the evil Minotaur model for a chance to win a trip to LEG

Spritz Cookies

I might have outsprinted a small child at one point tonight in order to win at Bingo at my dad's company picnic. But, now I have a hand mixer and a cookie press/decorating kit, so if I ever learn how to make food or spritz cookies in a proper sort of fashion, I can put those to good use!   Crazy weekend. Oh man. So tired right now. Though, I just saw the birthday topic, which was very nice. Thank you!   (proper BrickFair entry that still needs writing that will get done one of these days, becaus

Official Waffles Appreciation Entry

I think most of the people (and especially staff) at BrickFair who met him agree: he's just like, one of the coolest kids. Really awesome, respectful, funny, super fun to hang out with, smart....he's just so cool!   "He's also so far beyond adorable it moves to ridiculous and then back to adorable again." -DV   (proper BrickFair entry and eventually pictures to come soon!)

Hi From Nukaya!

I am totally Maddison, and I am at Brickfair! Totes serious! I am not someone taking advantage of the webpage she left up when she ran to get ready for the day! Totes not!   And I certainly wouldn't be a blog leader. That would be bad form! Totes bad form! I heart Oregon and everything involved with it!

Brickfair Guggenheim

Running of the bulls at the LEGO store was tonight. I wasn't really sure if I was going to get anything, but they had the Guggenheim Museum set, which was pretty darn cool, plus it was half off at $20 AND I have a LEGO gift card now, so I got it. It's pretty snazzy.   Things are being pretty awesome. I no longer have a voice though, so yelling across large areas of space isn't really working.   The Bionicle mosaics are really close to being done! We're just shy on one piece in the Kopaka one, bu

Waiting in the airport and just realized that I don't have 45 minutes like I thought I would have to get to my plane in LAX, but instead I have roughly 20 minutes, and I'm still trying to figure out which terminal I'm landing at and which one I have to go to. Hoping like mad here that they won't be at opposite ends of the airport, because LAX is huge....   I get a fun red-eye flight, then land in Baltimore at seven-something in the morning, chill out there for a while, then find the train to som

Less that a bunch more hours or something and I get on a plane and go places tomorrow night and augh I don't have enough pieces like seriously I need a 2x1 piece and a 1x1 piece both in dark grey for my mosaic piece and a bunch of white and green for something else and haha oh yeah maybe I should work on that painting tomorrow as well while I pack and yay! I get to take my dad to his carpool at 7something in the morning so eep I guess that'll be good because I'll be awake early enough to do thin

Right.

If you are making a blog due to the anniversary week, please continue to abide by the blog rules. Heck, going and reading through the blog rules would be a great idea! Because, seriously, if I run into you at BrickFair, and you've been breaking any blog rules in your newly made blog, I'll cough in your direction or casually take a sip from your cup. And that will not be a good thing for you. Because I apparently have had mono for the past month or so. Hooray!   Also, Bink send me this a while

Yoshida And Panda Are Awesome

Because they pretty much forced me to take the day off and rest up to in the hopes that whatever this cold/sore throat/stuff-uppedness/almost constant headache I don't even know anymore goes away. It's really making me miserable and overly snippety at some people, but hey, it's hard to do anything to get yourself to feeling better when the conversation with the nurse goes like this:   Nurse: Well, if you were at home, what would you do for this? Me: Um, take cold medicine....and something for my
