Yesterday, in my painting class we were discussing Julie Heffernan's painting "Self-Portrait as Wunder Kabinet". Someone wanted to know what exactly a "wunder kabinet" was, so the professor was explaining how it was a cabinet or room that was first used in the 16th century to store objects such as valuables or antiques. I started giggling, and when my professor asked what I thought was so funny, I told her that it sounded so much like it could be the wardrobe to Narnia. Gotta love how my mind
So, I'm in the radio station and ChocolateFrogs starts messaging me and is like "I hear you on the radio!" because he was listening on the online stream as well, so I'm all happy that people are actually listening. Then, the station phone starts blinking at me, so I go and answer it. "Hi, 91.7" "Hi Maddison!" "Um, hi...? (thinking: Wait, I know this voice, where do I know this voice from....)" "This is ChocolateFrogs!!!" "OMGWHAAAAT*spazzout*" So yeah. Half of the conversation was me spazz
Happy twenty-first wedding anniversary, mom and dad! I love you both! Who knew anyone could find love at a Wendy's drive-through window? (and 294 days until BrickFair!!)
If you have read this entry or ChocolateFrogs' entry, you will know that CF and I are devising a plan to make an epic mosaic that will be Bionicle-related to be shown at BrickFair 2010, where each different square plate of it was made by different people who had either confirmed that they were attending BrickFair or BZP members who were going to make a plate at home and then mail in before the start of BrickFair. Currently, we are still searching for an image that would be idea to use for the
So, I got back a math quiz that I took last Friday that had an extra credit question "What is the name of the German boy who quickly added one hundred numbers?" I couldn't remember his name (Carl Friedrich Gauss) so I wrote "Super genius math kid? I have no idea" and my professor gave me extra credit anyway. He rocks. I'm thinking for Halloween I might make a dress entirely out of newspaper (because my college dining place does a costume contest each year. Last year I went as Sarah Palin), but
So this evening for the last few hours I've been at my college's radio station doing my radio show. When I'm picking music off the shelves, I tend to gravitate toward CDs that have interesting album artwork or an interesting band name (but usually I tend to just grab things at random), and then I'll go and preview some of the songs to see if the music is something that catches my ear. This type of selection sometimes pays off for me and find a good CD with some good songs and sometimes it doesn'
If you've looked at D2: The Mighty "ChocolateFrogs" Duck's blog, he had this really awesome entry about a mosaic that was made during a LEGO con that happened in Britain right at the same time that BrickCon was occurring. I think this would be a phenomenal thing if we could pull this together at BrickFair 2010. I think the current plan would be to maybe get people who have confirmed that they're going to BrickFair 2010 to each make a pre-assigned square or two of it (as in a 32x32 LEGO plate) an
Today is just one of those days where tye-dye socks are a necessity, along with being wrapped up in a blanket and maybe having someone you like there to snuggle with while watching movies and not working on homework because it's rainy and nasty outside. I've got three out of the six currently. (and 306 days until BrickFair!)
Math that is in the form of word problems kind of makes me want to stab things. And every single one of these math problems is a word problem. And this is supposed to be math that should be teaching me how to teach math to elementary school students and the majority of them are examples of math problems that said students should be able to solve, yet it's making no sense to me. Argh! (and 309 days until BrickFair!)
Following along with a fad. This should be fun. The entry title is in reference to a quote from the movie, and the blog name is the type of VW bus that the family drives during their road trip. Oh, and class schedule, because Jalina T.T wanted to know: -Math 211, aka, "Foundations of Math for Elementary School Teachers" -Foundations of Digital Media -Drawing I -Beginning Painting In other words: GAHWHATMATH, kind of boring but my professor looks like he could be Sirius Black with greying h
It's a.... Fancy-schmancy angled version that looks kind of cool. Unfortunately my friend doesn't know what it is yet, as she went home for the weekend right as the other friend who I sent the present with arrived at their college. I am now all moved into my room. My roommates (or "Suitemates" as my college is apparently calling them now) seem nice enough (which is a major improvement, as the first roommates that I had last year were absolutely terrible). I know one girl from the RA progra
What is that mysterious ticking noise? The wrapping paper I doodled up for the present I made for my friend. My cat Hobbes is currently guarding it with his cute little nine lives. Pics of the actual present to come later, and the wrapping paper will make sense. *runs away to continue frantically packing for school, since she's leaving at noon to drive for four hours to EOU* (and 314 days until BrickFair!) (lol, it's BrickFair Pi(e): 3.14. Hee hee hee.)
Or, I realize that I don't know how to put on eyeliner and that said activity is one of the most terrifying things on the planet for me to even try. Because, as it turns out, there are guys in the theatre department who know how to put on eyeliner and makeup in general better than me. One even responded with "You don't know how to put on makeup? But....you're a girl" when I told him this. Anyways, I took the theatre makeup class that my school has online last spring semester (because at the
From a few days back....an epic text conversation I had with EmperorWhenua. The randomness that occurred felt necessary enough to share with the rest of you, because even now, I'm not sure why he was texting me random letters or why I thought up such odd replies. EW: R. Nukaya: R? R is for....rabies? OMG, you have rabies?! EW: Y. Nukaya: Y....? You are sitting in a yew tree listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? EW: L. Nukaya: L....you're sitting with Luna Lovegood discussing loser's lurgy? EW: D.
Even though it's still over a fortnight away, I do not really want to go back to school right now. I keep thinking of how many people I have began to loathe from last year due to their sheer ability to instantly make you feel like a complete and utter loser the second they open their mouth (but if you say anything to them in your defense, it means that you're a horrible person with an awful opinion who is a disgrace to society). It wouldn't be so bad if they were just other students, but one of
I'm the coordinator for the Other category at BrickFair 2010. I cannot wait for next summer. (and 327 days until BrickFair!) Your life will change forever.-FN
As myths go, apparently if you butter toast, and it falls, it is supposed to land butter-side down no matter what. And, cats are supposed to land on their feet no matter what. So.... Cat+piece of buttered toast strapped to its back=antigravity? Where is my cat? And where is the bread? (and 329 days until BrickFair!)
So apparently it's illegal to dress up as Batman in Australia. And Halloween isn't that far away.... Phy, watch out. I'm headed your way. This Halloween is going to be fun. (and 331 days until BrickFair!)
This crazy shirt quilt I'm making is so crazy that my cat Hobbes decided to take a nap on the pieces that I currently have laid out on the floor: Sewing is the most incredibly difficult thing, I've realized. However, if I get this done, I'm going to have something awesome for my bed in my dorm room. (and 332 days until BrickFair!)
Go congratulate Arpy because he's one of the winners in the blog contest. Woo hoo and good job! And go look at how completely adorable the kitten Lady K got is. Like, he is the cutest little fuzzy kitty. So cute! Stupid people are doing stupid things in my life (again) and this time they've brought something I thought they were done and over arguing about months ago. In other words, with this frustration back again, thank goodness for good true friends who don't ditch you and hate you over
I PLACED SECOND!!! SECOND!!! In a BZPower art contest! Yay!!! Second place is like....one of the best things ever. Thank you so much if you voted for "The Tree House" during the contest! I wouldn't have done as well as I did if people weren't kind enough to go and vote for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Woo hoo!!! You're never going to get the actual prize for getting second. Sorry. -FN
Even though it has been out for ages, the Wall-E soundtrack is so great. Anyway, what are some of your favourite movie soundtracks? Last day for voting in the final round! If you do vote, thank you so much! (click banner for a link to the voting page)
The PDX Adult Soap Box Derby occured a little while back, and since my family is really involved in soap box derby, we decided to head up to Mt. Tabor, where the race is held, and watch a bit. It tends to have a really good turnout and some very interesting car designs (especially this year). The A Team and....well, I'm not sure what they are, but they make me giggle. Delivery truck and firefighters. Flinstones and a Indiana Jones tribute? Mousetrap and the Red Menace. At the race, th
