Vertigo

Ohhhhhhhh, it is not nice. At all.   Especially when you're like, "yeah, gonna bike over to the pharmacy and get a prescription filled that will hopefully help!" only to get there and find out that it closed 45 minutes ago. Things have been really on and off wonky from my perspective since Monday. I hope that this will resolve itself....   Oh gosh, I feel bad now. Friday was my dad's birthday. I should have called him or maybe sent a card a few days before so he'd get it. I really despise being

11' 3"

Eeeee. So cool. I just need to vault four more inches higher than that and I'll have a ticket to Nationals in May.   And WOAH. It's reallllly bizarre to be nationally ranked. Or to be suddenly leading the conference for pole vault. Or to even have finally jumped higher than 10' where I was stuck at for a while.   Hey everyone: The entry period deadline for Pimp My Blog 2 is coming up tonight! If you've redesigned your blog for it but haven't posted it yet in the entry topic, make sure you do so.

Things To Enter And Stuff

Let's see....you should go and enter Pimp my Blog 2, Comedies Contest 4, and BBCC 58, because they're all really awesome and totally super cool contests.   So, if I were to be making some smallish Bionicle paintings for BrickFair, what do you guys think I should I do for them? I need to get started on them now, because I'll be working at a summer camp (yeahhhhh B)) for all of July, so I won't really have much time to work on them, because I'll get home from the camp and have about a day and a ha

Frustrated, She Poured The Paint Again

(30"x40", charcoal on paper)   My final for Drawing II was to create an image with deep space and a figure, and wow, I think the Chris Van Allsburg influence really showed in this one. I kind of want to start doing more drawings (or maybe even paintings) based off of one sentence that would also serve as the title, like in his book The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. The problem is making up creative single sentences that could give me enough to work with (because the one I made up for this one isn

We're California Bound

Heading to San Francisco from today until Sunday, as there are not just one, but THREE track meets all within 30 miles of each other on Friday and Saturday. The hotels we'll be staying at should all have internet, but if I suddenly disappear, it means we are internetless. It should be a very good rest of spring break. The first part was pretty awesome and I have wonderfully wacky photos from the first half of it to upload as well.   And, how is everyone (who else is on spring break? We're all ki

Tron! Light Cycles!

Omgomgomgomg TRON LEGACY. Based on the preview trailers I've seen it looks like it's going to be SO GOOD.   AND THE LIGHT CYCLES. THE LIGHT CYCLES LOOK SO FREAKING AMAZING AND AWESOME AND OMG.   TRONTRONTRONTRON.   Not that I'm excited or anything.   And: check out the BZPower tshirt project going on over in EW's blog. Like the BrickFair Mosaic Project (which you should also check out and get involved in), for either of these projects to be successful, we'll need lots of member involvement! Plus

Brickfair Mosaic Project Part 2- We Need Your Ideas!

Right, so we have less than 150 days until BrickFair. At this point in time, ChocolateFrogs and I have a semi-solid idea for the final product:   -Have a few 96x96 images (most likely four). -Each image of a different year of the timeline. -Start taking commitments, and if there's not enough people committed to make all four, knock off one image at a time (but we really don't want to end up doing that because this should be awesome and everyone should want to make a piece).   Something like this

Thank You, Mom

*mom calls me on the phone, and we're talking about things going on back home*   Mom: So, how are classes going?   Me: Well, um, not as good as they could be...   Mom:    Mom:    Mom:   Mom: WHAT?!?!   Thanks for caring and not even letting me talk more about it, Mom. Thanks a LOT. I love you and all, but wow, if I'd actually told you really how I'm feeling right now and how things are going for me, I'm sure that no matter what I say or how true it is, I wouldn't be able to get a

Brickfest '09 Panoramic

Forgot that I even made this until I saw a few cool panoramics of a bridge pedal that some friends and I did last summer. Though, I don't think I really even showed many of the BrickFest pictures that I took on here to begin with....odd. Linked, because it would probably make the screen strecth all wonky if I put it here.   It's also sixty degrees out. And super sunny. Which means I'm stuck inside doing homework. *sigh*   (and 149 days until BrickFair!!!)

Knees And Nationals

The past few days have been the indoor national championships for NAIA, and all ten of the athletes from my university who qualified for it placed in the top fifteen in their respective events, with three of them placing in the top six in their events (thus reaching All-American status). Plus, they pretty much rewrote our school records doing all of this, which is phenomenal. AND, to add on to how well the team has done, one of our other runners competed at the masters indoor track world champio

The Mysteries Of Harris Burdick

I love Chris Van Allsburg's books and illustrations so much, hence the new side links. I'm starting to work on my final for my drawing class right now, and I realized that I wish I could try to incorporate some of his drawing style into my own work. It has such a dream-like feel to it, while also appearing so realistic, and I think it might help the overall look of this drawing.   And, I'm not really sure what has triggered this newfound desire to rediscover all the books I grew up reading as a

It's A Mascot!

What do you guys think? To me, it's a pretty awesome idea, and if Admiral Ackbar does become their new university mascot, I think that it would be amazing if my university changed their mascot from the Mountaineers to the EOU Tauntauns. It would totally work since we're in the mountains already and it'd be loads cooler than our current mascot....I mean, Tauntaun versus a mountaineer named "Monty":     Tauntaun wins in my mind. And imagine a Tauntaun galavanting around the sidelines at football

Discouragement

The last thing I wanted to hear from my track coach while I was explaining to him that the classes I'm taking and their work load are becoming very difficult for me and I'm really struggling to even end this term on a decent note was that "it's ok if you don't do that well this term because your GPA won't be effected to the point that you're ineligible for track or your scholarships."   *sigh* That's not how it works. I shouldn't be viewing my current overall GPA as a cushion for not doing well

My School Is Kind Of Awesome

Since my school isn't cool enough to have actual bells that ring on the hour, at one point in time they went and purchased various recordings of songs played out in bells which are blasted from rooftop speakers from one building at the top of the hour.   Now, you would think that they would try to find more traditional songs that are normally played by bells as a substitute, but whoever is in charge of programming it found and plays bell versions of the Imperial March and the Star Wars main them

It's Only Tuesday

Gahhhhh. It feels like a Friday, though. Not fun.   And I've realized that agreeing to go swimming at six in the morning was horrible idea. Definitely having major problems concentrating on anything and it's pretty critical that I do right now.   (and 161 days until BrickFair!!!)

Versailles And Wifi

School packing list: "The dorms do not have wifi so you have to get an ethernet cable in order to get internet, because only Loso, the library, and Quinn have wifi."   Me: Ok. *goes and buys an ethernet cable*   ....a school year and several months pass....   Me: *unplugs internet and walks to front room with laptop to watch Olympics and do homework*   *internet doesn't disappear and continues to frolic around as it likes to do*   Me: O.o Wha?   They finally got wifi access for the whole school,

Bionicle Art

For the first time in ages. Eep. So click the picture and check it out, please?   And some school art for my argumentative writing class. We had to design an ad or commercial that was either a spoof or satire of an existing product or commercial, or design a new product that uses absurd logic to sell itself. My roommates and I were watching the Olympics, and one of them pointed out how odd it was that Diet Coke was supporting a heart health program when drinking their product (especially in ext

We All Live In A Tea Submarine

I like this a lot.     And, I'm currently registering for classes for spring term (woo), but the majority of classes that I need to take for my communications minor either aren't available for spring term, or are one weekend classes that I can't take since they're offered on other campuses that are way far away and I don't have a way to get there. I think I wouldn't be so worried about this, but I have to have 15 credits every term, or I'll lose my scholarships and track eligibility. Right now,

On My Laptop....

I renamed a bunch of stuff. So, now:   My desktop is Hogwarts. My recycling bin is Azkaban. The "switch between windows" option that I never use is the Room of Requirement. The internet is Diagon Alley. AIM is the Floo Powder Network. Microsoft Word is Flourish and Blotts.   I still need a name for iTunes and a few other things, but there's not many music-related locations I can find in the Harry Potter world   Track meet this weekend! And, we need more volunteers for the BrickFair Bionicle Mosa

Knee Socks Are Amazing

Instead of putting on sweatpants over their shorts like most people are prone to do when they're cold, I put on knee socks.   It actually worked really well. And I was warm for the rest of last night, so it was probably one of the best ideas of the night. Yay, knee socks!   (and 175 days until BrickFair!!!)

Chai Tea Whatnot Part 2

Yeah, that was a bad idea and I need to start sticking to water-fueled all-nighters instead of tea-fueled all-nighters, because apparently even the mildest of teas will make you super dehydrated when combined with lack of sleep, and this kind of really messes you up. Let's just say that I didn't go to either classes or track practice and only went to work (and thank goodness shifts in the art gallery are only an hour) and everything appeared to be spinning to some degree or another for most of t

Chai Tea Fueled Paper Writing Frenzies

Three AM and still working on a paper in a chai tea and random musical mashup-fueled frenzy. And there's another paper to write after I finish this one, so oh boy.   Mmmmm, random chocolate from my desk. Nom nom nom. These paragraphs in this paper are getting out of control. Eep.   Yeah, I should not try to blog while sleep deprived. I'm sure that I'm going to read this in a few hours and be thoroughly confused as to what I was going on about.   And it feels as if everything is starting to spin
