A Certain Degree Of Impropriety

I entered that Short Story Contest.   It's my first Bionicle fanfic in ages, but I hope to write more, so criticisms are welcome, especially the pineapple-flavored ones.   But yeah, I think I nailed Takua's fun-loving personality, and I integrated the picture pretty well IMHO. So, check it out if you have a few temporal units to spare! The smiley is the link. The link is the smiley. The Matrix has you. There is no escape. Oh, and the results from SHCCA will be up later this week. *is still

Font Query

You guys (and girls?) think I should switch from using bold font to unemboldened? Like this? I'm pretty much ambivalent.   *is lazy because of Thanksgiving break*   Arpy

Is Your T-zone Getting Enough Smooth Flavor?

I certainly hope not.   Anyway, I have once again made it to the semifinals. It looks like it'll be quite close for the wildcard, but I know better than to make judgements like that, especially considering what happened last time. You may of course vote if you have not yet done so...I still have lots of KMCs left!   Also, International Yodasteak Day seems to have gone off quite well considering this is its first year and despite the fact that Aethisyl seems to have forgotten about it. Sodalitas Humphreibus Caption Contest Alpha

SODALITAS HUMPHREIBUS CAPTION CONTEST ALPHA Since I now have a blog club, it follows that I should have a blog contest. Your task is to create a caption or captions for this picture: L to R: Me holding Roa's self-MOC, Unknown Kid, Roa, kopakanui. Captions can be submitted in text format or edited into the photo, both are equally acceptable and the format will have no impact on judging. Entries will be judged solely on the amount of funniness in the entry, and the proud winner will ge

Today, International Yodaspeak Day Is!

Today, International Yodaspeak Day is. Even in real life, speak like Yoda, you must. Spread the word, you shall, and together, rule the galaxy, we will.   A banner, Aethisyl has made: Think the text should be lighter, I do, but whatevs. 8D   Arpy

On The Horrors Of Driving A Big Skeery Van

Today I experienced the joy of having someone else steal my destined parking space for the first time. Annoying as that may be, it's nowhere near as harrowing (Yes, I use words like "harrowing". Get over it.) as the extremely harrowing experience of last night, when I drove our huge 15-passenger van all the way to the other town. I. Hate. Driving-that-van. Unfortunately, we only have two cars, and since the Century is my dad's work car, it looks like I might actually have to buy my own car t

My Bbcc#46 Entry

I <3 it verrah much-eh. Did I mention the knob actually turns? In Which The Learned Professor Arpy Examines a Bula Berry Through His Microscope I actually like it much better than my original entry. Providential, no?   Arpy

Howdy-ho, It's Veteran-glomping Day!

Because veterans are awesome. *glomps his father*   In other news, the progress of my BBC entry may have reached a stopping point. The flex tubing I had hoped to use to secure certain parts of the MOC proved impossible to force through the axle holes, so I'll have to either get a new handle design or else start over with a completely new entry. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!   But on the plus side, I have completed three of my previously mentioned MOCs, as well as a Frogspace Flyer (5-piece MOCs

Transience

This has been one of those days of the sort where I get out of bed and spend the entire day bouncing around town. Right now, I have spent an estimated 96% of my day away from home. This is because a bunch of people canceled their refereeing appointments at the last minute, leaving me to call lines for three of the Junior Soccer League playoff games (Not that I'm complaining--I get paid due to their playoffness.). I wish I had been able to play this year, but Driver's Ed took priority. Hopefully

Mocsly Self-promotion

Check out my supernifty ScoopCart! It even has frog-style revenge pictures.   Also, I just noticed Arvo's Legowinningful Alien MOC. Check it out too, only much more so.   Arpy

IS IT CAN BE READ THIS NOW PLEASE?   Also, I have quite a few MOCs that are due to be posted. ScoopCart, Spot, Suborbital Repair Station Romeo, and a new Pantsbot should all be completed and photographed shortly. I'll try to get pics of some of them up later today.   Arpy

Lovely Lovely Frogs...

Frogspace is undeniably the coolest thing to hit System building in years. Accordingly, I have acquired 15 frogs in addition to the two I had, and I just finished naming the new guys. Their names are Cupcake, Earring, Desk, Lightbulb, Lightswitch, Mustard, Flute, Junction, Pie, Bookend, Tupperware, Faucet, Hubcap, Stapler, Floorboard, Nickel, and Post-It for those of you too lazy to follow this link to the Flickr, which also lists their ranks.   Also accordingly, (though according to a differ

A New Idea Appeared!

This is a New Idea, which, along with the elderly, mudkips, and the Western Pinebark Beetle, is the greatest threat facing our country today. Alas, New Ideas are becoming more prevalent, even outside of colleges and universities.   Arpy

It Really Is A Brilliant Film Processors Should I See, Or What?

So after seeing a humourous instance of a poorly translated sentence on another site, I got this brilliant idea to run one of my old blog entries through Google Translate from English to German to French to English again. This is what came out: Here's the original.   *hopes he starts fad*   Arpy

#46

I realized I hadn't actually blogged my entry yet... Then I realized I haven't got all the parts I need yet.   *hopes his order arrives before deadline*   Suffice it to say that it is quite original, has a reasonably spiffy color scheme, and even has something which could conceivably be labeled a function...   Plus, it helps that I've got a cute girl lined up to model it.   Arpy

Fall Back Forever!

Daylight Savings/Spending Time is stupid. I mean, I like getting extra time to sleep in like I did this morning, but then in spring the other clock-change thingy hits my biological clock like a haddock stuffed with sand. Also, I resent being forced to conform to the mad whims of whoever came up with this twisted idea. If we must change our clocks at all, I'd rather we just keep "Falling Back" year after year. It is true that after 12 years we would eventually be eating lunch around midnight, but

Live! From The Corner Of A Room 20 Miles Away From My House

Greeting, earthlings! I'm typing this from the portable unit at our parish school, where I've spent the morning setting up the new computer lab with some other computer-oriented people. We unpacked and assembled 24 computers, (It's a Dell...and another Dell...and another Dell...*dies from box cutter duel wounds*), got them up and running, then I pimped out the desktops of half the admin accounts (Read: copied the "Moon Flower" desktop into Paint and inverted the colors) and spent over an hour c

Halloween 2007 After-action Report

...and even the chess team...   First off, I currently have only one picture of my costume and it's not a very good one, so I'm going to wait for my friend's mom to send me the pictures they took of me. Secondly, the whole Halloween thing weas rather nice. My portrayal of the stereotypical nerd went off very well, and I alternately dazzled and confused people with my renditions of White'n'Nerdy and geek jargon. I also had fun yelling in Klingonese and screaming for the little kids to attack as

Mylego Network?

So I finally got around to messing around with that Beta Lego network thing. The nuances of the various trade items currently escape me, but hopefully I'll figure it all out. My username is ribs09 for those of you that would care to add me.   The MyLego Network shall fall before the might of the Praetorite Vong! Doro'ik Vong pratte!   Something like that. Anyway... Arpy

Driving Stuffs

What is it about being a Driver's Ed student (and driving the school's white Scion xB) that makes random people want to wave at, yell at, and otherwise distract you? First it was the guys that yelled at us from a sidewalk. Then, two girls smiled at us for no readily apparent reason. Next, a carload of people passed us (illegally, I might add) shouting through the window at us. Neither me nor my driving partner have any idea who these people are.   Also, in your view, is unused toilet paper an

My Ergonomic Keyboard Never Leaves Me Bored

Driving situations I *hate*: Driving our big, 15-passenger van Driving with my mom Driving our big, 15-passenger van with my mom I don't actually hate my mom or anything (No, of course not. I love my mom.), but driving with her is about as relaxing as having a rabid wolverine in my underwear. Speaking of which (in a roundabout sort of way), this year's Halloween costume requires me to stop shaving about five days before the event. Guess why.   Arpy

Sodalitas Humphreibus

I had this idea of devising a club devoted wholly to my blog's guardian/mascot/møøse, Humphrey. Accordingly, I have followed through with this idea, and am pleased to present Sodalitas Humphreibus*, the Internet's first exclusively møøse-oriented club**. Members have the right to bother me via PM***, the privilege of having their names listed in a rather spiffy list, and best of all, free møøse plushies like this one! **** I have of course immortalized this society in a content block with fan

Baconfucius Say...

Baconfucius (American), lit. "Master Bae Kun,"[1] (1976 AD – present) is a thinker and social philosopher, whose teachings and philosophy have deeply influenced Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese restaurants.   His philosophy emphasizes personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. And pork products. Baconfucius' thoughts have been developed into a system of philosophy known as Baconfucianism.   "A journey of a thousand miles begins wi
