OK, I'm as done with the board upgrades as I intend to get. Spinnies and other topic-level hacks have been added back in, and the big bugs that have been sent to me have been resolved to the best of my knowledge.

OK, so I'm working on updating the text for BIONICLEstory.com (for release in July), and I've run across a question which I think my BZP compadres will be able to answer.
I need to include Agori villagers in the Heroes, Villains & More section. But I don't think it's substantially a different category from Matoran. Question: Should the "Matoran" section be changed to "Villagers" to include Agori? Or is it worth a new category?

This one was a huge project, as you can tell by looking at the number of character bios on the site. It was done in a rush, so it's not perfect, but we'll definitely be adding to it. I'm currently on Christmas vacation, and 5,000 miles away from the action, so I haven't been involved in pushing it live. After some fits and starts, though, it looks like it's getting done. There are the occasional server errors and a few things to clean up, but overall it's looking good.

The new BIONICLEstory.com is getting there, it's gonna be done a week later. Then it's Juletime holidays and I can r-e-l-a-x for the first time in a long time. I downloaded the Bionicle Heroes demo yesterday, and gave it a whirl. I'd had the chance to test-drive it during development a few weeks ago, and probably made the developers nervous because of how poorly I did. This time I did a bit better, it took a few tries to get good at it, but I did manage to get to the end.
My 12-year-old son watched me for two minutes, and whizzed through the entire thing his first try, in about half the time of my final attempt.

Woo. The last few weeks have been somewhat intense work-wise, with lots and lots of stuff happening at once. It's like surfing a killer wave on a Pop-Tart sized board. Deadlines breathe down my neck like werewolves with halitosis, ready to rip me if I falter. Herds of butterflies rampage in my stomache when I think about all that's due and the very short timeframes in which to do them.

I start a new job next Monday. It's a 3-month contract gig, boring yet well-paying, that may be extended in February '07. It's a little nerve-wracking going to a job where I don't know what's going to be happening in a few months, but now is a very good time for me to get the heck outta where I've been working for the last 5 years. And the job market for what I do is looking up, so I'm not too worried.

OK, I'm back, and at least slightly less jet-lagged than yesterday. So time for a little low-down on what the Bink's been up to.
A few weeks ago, TT Games invited me to visit their studio and publishing offices. Since I had a valid passport and available vacation time, I obviously jumped at the chance. The trip was about five days long, all told, and I just got back yesterday. The eight hour time difference is still playing merry havoc with my body, but it was a great journey.

The move out of the clubhouse last week put me under the weather, still snotty. At least the sore throat's gone.
I got to go home early yesterday after the wife called in a panic, her car wouldn't start. Turns out the battery died, so I convinced her not to tow it to the dealer to have them run an expensive diagnostic on it. I replaced the battery myself, shocking her that I could actually get my hands greasy by working on a car. Binky the grease monkey. Ook.

When there's work to be done, you can be certain the Binkman is strenuously looking for ways to avoid it. There are times when I get overwhelmed with all the stuff I think I have to get done, and those are the times I'm most likely to go off and do something else entirely. For instance, as a writer, I find all sorts of ways to not write. Clean my desk. Build a moc. Watch a Stargate SG-1 rerun. Play with the kids. Shave the cat. Anything to avoid actually doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

A friend of mine recently spent a week in Billund working on yet another top-secret project, and told me that during his stay they visited the not-yet-completed LEGO Museum near Legoland Billund. It's apparently got a lot of cool stuff, but the biggest surprise was that they have an entire fan section, including videos. Specifically, at least one video, written and voiced by yours truly. So my melodious voice is apparently heard in the museum.

Ah, vacation time. Writing from my hotel room in Disney World. The sun is hot although the sky is steel gray from hundreds of wildfires pouring smoke into the atmosphere. Spent yesterday at the pool; later today is Epcot (again) for Mother's Day Brunch.
Actually made myself ride Everest at Animal Kingdom, and even with two Dramamine I spent the next several hours looking green around the gills. The rest of the family loved it; I'm a wuss when it comes to rides like that. More my speed is "Spa
Pick-A-Brick is our friend.
I'm an excellent procrastinator. Over the last month or so, I've been surreptitiously working on an actual physical brick MOC, when I should've been doing other things. You can tell me if it was worth it.
The design itself isn't really noteworthy, except maybe for the half-plate offset of the tiles to give it a layered look. What really catches the eye is the sheer amount of dark red 1x4 tiles. Since I lack imagination or originality, I call it BinkTower.

Well, BrickFest is over, and for the first time in several years, I wasn't in attendance. I would've loved to be able to see the BZP gang that dropped by, but I got a small taste of that when Omi called my cell phone during one of the get-togethers. At least I got that much of it. You'd think the BrickFest webmaster would at least be able to attend his own convention, but noooo....
Part of me is jealous of everybody that got to go, another part actually enjoyed staying home and getting caught

Because my technical ponderings of the intricacies of maintaining a server are so obscure, I thought I'd try a different method to describe this often convoluted process.
