Vacant Bishop Bricks

Oh dear gods, Non Campus Mentis is absolutely the most hilarious thing I've ever read. The only reason I don't laugh aloud continuously while reading it is because I force myself not to, because that would get me even weirder looks than I already do. :3   Some quotes to illustrate just how awesome the thing is: "Around the year 1000 people were afraid that an acropolis was lurking around the corner." (This had me in fits of laughter for literally three minutes straight. I almost choked on my c

The Origin Of Names

Well then, over a week since I last made an entry... To comment on the obvious things, my Thanksgiving was quite spiffing, both enjoyable and productive. I got one page of The Spirit Falls drawn out, then several more sketched; hopefully I can ink and color that this weekend (or maybe start tomorrow, if I have time)...   On to the title of this entry! A couple weeks ago, Alsru came upon the origins of the Makuta Phantoka's names, so I did some investigation of my own, with the following results

Party In Le-koro!

What? My blog looks a lot like Le-Wahi...   Yesterday was my four-year anniversary of joining BZP! Yes, leave it to me to be late. I spent the end of yesterday afternoon and evening first writing a new short story – there was a thunderstorm and I was inspired to write about the Inika – and then watching Dead Man's Chest. So I didn't get around to posting here.   I guess you could call listening endlessly to the Le-Koro party music (without having the MNOLG open!) my celebrations. That and fin

Dicacitas

It is very hard to be witty at eight-forty in the morning during Latin ... but we manage it.   I usually have Latin second period, but today was a switch day. As you might guess, I'm not awake enough first period to thoroughly enjoy it, although I usually have English first. The usual second period is better, but I miss having it eighth period like I did last year. By eighth period, we're hyper, and it was right after lunch so we could have fun before class started. Not that we don't still have

Anywhere Is

This actually touches on various other subjects, but because it deals predominantly with writing, it gets to go in that category.   As I've mentioned to some of you, I've been taking a class on novel-writing for the past week. (Afternoon summer camp-type thing.) As those of you who know me better might know, one of my life's ambitions is to finish a novel (and preferably publish it). I took the same class last year, but I just didn't get as much out of it then as I did this past week, even thou

A Brief Point On Tolerance

It's a wonderful thing.   Whether it's in regards to something as small as a difference in tastes or desires or as large as religious or political beliefs, tolerating people who disagree with you or whom you disagree with is really the simplest way to keep things peaceful and, hopefully, plesant. There's no reason a long, potentially hurtful, and in the grand scheme of things probably unnecessary argument should occur if it can be prevented just by tolerating what it is you disagree with, you k

The King Is Dead

My Sidorak set officially died yesterday.   The obituary will probably print that it was of a long illness. Roodaka will doubtlessly claim credit and dramatically announce that she murdered him. In truth, however, he was sacrificed to the gods of MOCing, in the tradition of which various nonvital portions of his anatomy (and his nose) were cast into the swirling vortex of pieces over the past year. If you need someone to blame, it's probably Vakama.   He will be buried amid the pieces strewn a

To Pillage Or Not To Pillage ...

I suppose I can't really expect to get away without making an entry about International Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day...   Although what's weird is that, of all days, today I feel like neither talking like a pirate or using the pirate emoticon. Maybe it's because I'm wearing a cape. Not that pirates can't wear capes. I mean, they billow behind you more than those coats do, if dramatic effect is desired. Which it usually is. Because if effect of any sort is desired, drama is a given. Still, they aren't

Project Nuva :: Kopaka

It's cold outside... not quite perfect weather for Kopaka, but it's close...     Edited pieces: thigh joints to light grey, eyes to ice blue, and thigh armor to dark bluish grey. His shoulders and neck are also dark grey, continuing the dark accents.   He too keeps the axles to attach his skates, and this time his shield is attached via a loose axle/pin plugged into one of the axle holes at the middle of his hand... (I tried the axle hole at the end, but that left too little room given the w

A Fruitful Day Indeed

Though, not really an eventful one in terms of birthday-stuff. Being the day before Easter/Ostara added a great deal in the way of happenings – there was baking almost constantly in the kitchen, for instance – as well as the standard dying of eggs. But otherwise it was a nice, quiet, enjoyable, and productive day... listened to Celtic Woman, the Afrocelts, and Enya throughout the day... CGed a picture of Hahli (Matoran and Mahri forms), which I'll post tomorrow, which was enjoyable... worked on

Snow

It's been snowing non-stop since yesterday evening.   The front steps have vanished into the white covering all the ground by at least eight inches.   Snow is piling against the sliding glass door next to my desk, and there are patterns of ice coating some of the windows.   It's beautiful...     And since school is closed once again, I finally have a few more things to blog about: For one, I've posted a new MOC: the Toa of Shapeshifting. This one is a bit of a change from previous MOCs, usi

Foundations Of A Tree

Finally got a good start on the base for my my BBC2 48 entry. There will be a priestess and a cauldron and fire and rocks and a tree, the trunk of which is more difficult to build than I had thought it would be...   Because I don't really have much else to post at the moment. Except that I would love to have more snow than the six inches we got... it's annoying; every single time everywhere else gets about two feet we get only a few inches. We're cursed, I tell you. ~ ToM

Dance And Spring

I have finally seen Riverdance live.   It was Saturday. It was amazing. It was amazingly loud. It was really fun to see the dances and visual effects that accompany the music, then also to finally see the Uilleann pipes played – that (those?) is one of my favorite instruments in the way of sound. Back to the dancing, it's amazing people can move their feet that fast. It's almost scary. But really cool. I love Irish dancing, as well as Celtic music in general, also with the New Age blend some of

The Flower Of The Ultimate Meadow

... is a literal translation from lines 22-23 of Catullus 11.   It sounds like something from the sixties, when said that way.   Redecorations are being worked on. ~ ToM

A Preview Of Sorts

Turaga Vakama walked forward, clutching the Mask of Light. The only sounds were the sigh of the sea and the clunk of his staff. He could feel the eyes of the Toa Nuva, other Turaga, and two Matoran following him.   In the center of the wide balcony where they stood was the symbol of Mata Nui, etched into the stone within two concentric circles. It was just as he remembered. The wind of a thousand years had done nothing to it, even though the railing had crumbled further and the rest of the ston

I've Been Captured

... by real life.   Last week was Spirit Week. As mentioned. That alone kept me busy pretty much every day, during school at least. Throughout the week I was also developing a cold. By some miracle I was able to hold off actually getting sick through my performance as God on Thursday (which went very well indeed), and then through Blue-White Day on Friday (basically an all-school field day). But as soon as I got home Friday afternoon I absolutely crashed, and spent the rest of the day and a lot

Jo For President

So I finally entered BBC 40 a few days ago, almost right before the entry period ended, with an MOC I'm quite fond of: Jo! The Jo in question being Senjo, formerly (and irreversably) known as Jo_Shmo, the Puller of the Plugs and General of the Bananas of the BGC. In this instance she and her plug are representing the Platonic virtue of Temperance, or moderation and self-control.     You can find her in Temperance Poll B... Currently she's coming in third in the poll, so I'd appreciate any and

Don't Feed The Plants

We're done.   I can't quite believe it.   I also can't quite believe it's been a month and a half since we started this. Our performances were Thursday and Friday, and they went so amazingly. I was so, -so- happy with how the set and lighting looked (both of which were largely my design), and the actors were all great and knew all their lines and had their timing just about perfect. At least eleven people told the directors it was the best show they had ever seen at my school on the first nigh

Quiz, Round One

There's this quiz tournament thing going on at my school right now... Yeah, nerdy, but really fun. There wound up being seven teams of four people each, from varying grade levels.   My team is myself, Henry, Dani, and Mike (all Sophomores), and last Friday and today we played against Youri's team (all Juniors). What is really cool is that on Friday, Dani and Mike both had meetings they had to go to, so Henry and I were the only ones playing against a full team of four. And we thoroughly owned

To The Stars

An interesting story: the pictures of the Stars came out on a day that I was completely twitterpated over a certain someone, so the combination of those emotions and the surprise/confusion of the stars was rather ridiculous. It was something to the effect of "What the heck – wha – I need my life to pause for a little so I can properly react to and judge these sets without having a whole bunch of completely separate, intense emotions going on at the same time" It was bad.   So the biggest part o

The Three Musketoros?

Well, what are you going to call it when Aiyetoro, Matoro, and Toromaga are in the same shot?     Yes, it's the return of the Tohunga! The novelty has yet to wear off, especially since I've spent half my time lying on the couch re-reading Harry Potter and fiddling with them in the past few days. Though not so much yesterday and today. They're fuuuunn! I've also been coming up with names for the unnamed Tohunga from the MNOLG1... I'm very fond of Onu-Koronans, I've discovered.   Taipu and A

How

I do seem to like using interrogative words as titles...   This time, it's what I would change if given the 2008 "Nuva" basic designs to work off of into Toa Nuva restyled... even though that doesn't use the word "how."   :: 8686 Toa Lewa Nuva ::   First, Nuva chest armor redesigned to appropriately fit onto an Inika or Piraka chest, then Nuva shoulder armor remade to attach like the Inika's. But keeping the overall smooth, clean shape. In silver. Legs ~ lime joints with green (Lewa's origina

Hahli Mahri

She's not a revamp of Reidak (still waiting for the peices on that; there was a delay in shipping), but I like her, too. Took ... three days, I think, CGing on and off. Fast by my standards. Hahli is both my favorite Mahri and my favorite Bionicle character overall, so I rather enjoyed this. Click the image above to go to the topic.   Hopefully Reidak's pieces will arrive today... ~ ToM (still a Hahli fanboy)

All Hallows' Eve

"Who? Who is but the form, following the function of what, and what I am is a man in a mask."   Halloween is tomorrow. I can't wait, though October has gone by way too fast – there's a variety of stuff I had wanted to do, including just enjoy the month before Halloween, but huge amounts of schoolwork have prevented my doing much other than that. Including working on QfLD, two short story ideas, that comic thing I mentioned – creative stuff, really, for which my inspiration and time have been le
