Tap Tap Tap

Slowly but surely, the weary girl trudged along, surprisingly ahead of the companion who was with her, but it was no real surprise if the companion was your grandmother.   "The place is closed! The door's closed!"   The girl looked up at her grandmother's Mandarin comment, her head slightly bobbing at the door. The clinic was closed, wasn't it?   Oh no, she saw the crop of some nurse's head bob around through the glass panel on that door.   She hated the clinic, but she could not dismiss

Taming Of The Bore

That was the challenge given to me, and it was tough.   Y'see, I have my next school assessment coming up: a public performance.   Yep. Right. Next Wednesday.   A public performance.   The hub of the arts in this country (look up the Esplanade if you're interested in depth-knowledge) had a conveniently-placed cafe in the library, and it had conveniently provided a little stage, complete with a digital piano.   When our group of merry students made a trip to that library to handle our assign

Sweet Sabotage! A Female Sarcasm Chick-flick!

May I warn all of you: Don't take the movie 'The Devil Wears Prada' too seriously, and with many pinches of salt for the femme audience!   There was something all too obvious for me when I watched the movie. I tell you, I was adamant about watching a chick flick. However, when ol' Daddy said he was watching too, the in-house movie critic, I hopped onto the bandwagon.   I was so happy I watched the movie.   There's no need for me to write out a summary of the movie. You go watch it when you ca

Suteki Da Ne - And All That Jap-jazz

Maybe you all can help me stop brooding about this bit of life's ironical trivia.   Right now, there's an obessesion around the world about one particular culture - Japanese culture. Cultures maybe, seeing as it branches off into more categories than I have fingers.   As far as I know, it's literally taking the world by storm. My friend, who digs anime and manga, got me a Death Note notebook as a present (I didn't tell you about that, did I?), I love Japanese cuisine to bits, I do know some an

Sugar Pup

I really do mean that.   I found out today that Lucky has a sweet tooth. No wonder his teeth were going beyond gone!   I discovered this when I had a better look at his food bowl. I found grains of sugar all over his chicken.   He downed them all at an alarming rate.     It was a relief to see him back at his eating self after a spate of apathy towards eating, but this was the reason that contributed to his weight problem. He's now overweight.     Lucky, sugar puppy, if you weren't so 'dumb

Sub-leader Burn

So that was why they made me person-in-charge of Publicity's stunt in Co-Curricular Activity Week.   To make me suffer for the brunt of problems coming from the higher-ups.   A day away from the deadline, and everything went haywire and crosswire.     The previous day, I met up with the other member whom I assigned Poster duty, and we both hand-drew three posters and took up the whole day doing so, in the process nicking my wrist with a blade that was unlawfully placed in the open, having a b

Ss3 Entry

I did my SS3 entry at one shot. I'm glad to say that the story seemed to write itself out, with thanks to the song and mood music.   I Hope You Dance   I loved that song ever since I heard it as a young girl, but I never really knew what it was until recently, when I stumbled upon a Ronan Keating CD my maid bought and she and I listened to it.   It's also my first try at songfic writing. Honestly, I don't think I'll get very far with the story, but it's bittersweet and is memorable as my fi

Ss Blooming

Does anyone see that the Short Stories section of the Library is having a lot, and I mean a lot, of new short stories?   The poor Short Story critics would be in quite a fix, I tell you.   But that leaves the Epic section to go on with its curent stuff. Expected this is, for I long foretold of the short one-post stories gain support because of its one-post-edness.   But that means that now's a good time for those who are active in the Epics section to brush up on their writing skills! I know

Sprachgefuhl

When my teacher asked me why a term after a series of 'and's was single instead of plural, I didn't know what to say.   When it came to English, I was bred to write by the feel of it. I felt the word being wrong or right, and then taking the necessary action to make it right.   But I wasn't able to find a word to say it. Of course, a third grader in elementary school would not be able to say such a word.   So, all I could tell was the teacher was: "I know it's right. I can feel it!"   But to

Spin Me A Web: The Last Moon

Today is Halloween, but not many people care of it. Me, well, I'm taking today as a good excuse to attempt a weak, a really weak, cosplay style.   I came today in red and black, a red top with the edges trimmed black and black pants, as a character I like. Anyone remember G1 Sideswipe from Transformers?   Oh wait, some others like to celebrate Halloween cosplay today, though. I see before me three hooded ghost people. Pretty sure they're other boys, but their red-trimmed and tattered coats, h

Spin Me A Web: Second Spook

Here we go at story number two!   And here is a term to remember: kampung - village ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   There are many remote islands that make up Indonesia, what is approximated to be nine hundred little islets or larger pieces of land surrounded by sea.   Most of them are not open to the world, but I knew a classmate who came from there.   He had a story to tell me.       He lived on a large island, one thick with rainforest, flora and fauna. His kampung lived a nice a

Spin Me A Web: Halloween Tales?

Well, the day's fast approaching for many to keep the cobwebs, to find all the black and orange paint, to find large pumpkins and prepare a good stash of candy to give trick-or-treaters or to give your haunted house a good prep and run-through.   I don't celebrate it, but I find it really fun. Even if I miss out on the action, and Singapore really doesn't dig Halloween so much as some big exams occur right after it. (For those in the know, it's the A Levels and O Levels, all important to get y

Spin Me A Web: First Weave

I now had a better thought of this little ghost-story project: I don't think I'll mind if there's an audience or not, even if replies are nice to get. It's all in the name of fun, and to flex my writing skills a little more. Besides, I need to write a new story for the Creative Writer's Club.   Here's Tale number one. Please, may I warn you, these tales are entirely fictional! All right, I may say that some of the living mortals in here are true 'cause I met them, but what happened to them here

Soundwaves In The Theatre

I can't wait to watch Transformers 2! I know it's released, but I finally have the tickets - my dad won them, but didn't want to watch it with walk-in tickets. He wanted to book us all down. Good thing he knew a Transformers fan living in the same house as he did.   I'm doing sound for a production called Short + Sweet, an international playwright competition of 10 minutes a play, and I'm helping the Singapore leg of this competition. The stage manager for this event is my little sister's best

Soundtrack

From HH's blog, months ago, but still fun to revisit and try. I will have weird answers - trust me.   Le Soundtrack of a <dd> movie -as told by Windows Media Player-: Opening Credits: 'Trash The Camp' - Phil Collins & N*SYNC, OST Tarzan (A very quirky way to start the show, and very creative use of syllables. ) Waking Up: Nocturne - Secret Garden (Now we wake up in the middle of the night?!), Father Christmas - OST Chronicles of Narnia (Now this is more I like it! I love the movie's

Sound Crew

Somehow, someway, I had no idea how it happened but I was dragooned into being part of a two-man audio crew for my church’s dance ministry, which was presenting three dance items. Part of the reason was that my little sister was one of the dancers, and the other part was that I was educated in this field while the rest had to adjust to it and were stuck with boundaries they were not comfortable with.   I was worried that I was stuck with some old stickler who would want his way and not listen t

Something's Funny With That Poster...

I found something really amusing.   The Transformers Movie is going to screen soon, and the posters are growing and spreading like wildfire.   When I took a closer look at one with Mr. Protect and Mr. Destruction (Identified with the words 'Protect' and 'Destroy'), I noticed something really queer.   There were symbols on their faces, etched and rusted.   But they were readable.   Well, looky there, I can read Cybertronian (language of the TFs).   I could read them - because they looked li

Soccer Balls Aren't Safe

This morning, I watched the soccer battle between England and Israel. I rarely sit down to watch soccer, but this game amused me.   Why?   P. Neville (which P, I can't remember) received a face-straight collision from the soccer ball, and was sent reeling.   Then, later on in the game, two players (can't remember who) chased after the soccer ball, only to find themselves colliding into each other and the ball bounding away, unharmed.   The mischeif (or was it mischief?) caused by the ball di

Snow Falling

It was after the Video Game Orchestra at the Berklee Performance Centre that I stepped out into it. Nothing had prepared me for it. If you could believe it, not even the weather forecast foretold the coming of the chilly phenomenon that stirred outside.   Snow! More specifically, falling snow! And torrents of falling snow, with the ground already icing over from the falling precipitation. There were people around me cursing and swearing at the new wet obstacle they faced, some people were going

Shouting A Victory

I have successfully completed ALL my assignments - all those music-composition assignments that chased me up, down, and all over the walls and ceiling - they. are. COMPLETED!     Furthermore, I honed my prowess in HTML reading - a good friend of mine mentioned upon prompt that her blog was so dismally plain that she had long ago discarded it.   Upon resurrecting it, I assisted her in giving it a total makeover -picture slideshow, music clip of her own music (how awesome is that?) - under an

Ship, Ahoy!

'Cap'n! What gives? We don't care about your jar o' dirt or money, we just wanna see the ship!'   The aforementioned man, in his leather hat, billowing white shirt and tanned pants, swayed slightly aboard the ship, and took another swig from his bottle of rum.   'You,' he started, staggered slightly and caught himself from tumbling overboard, 'ain't steppin' on this deck.'   'We don't want your ship either,' the other girl beside the first one added in.   'Ya ain't comin' up.'   'Well, watc

Seafood Paradise

When I read ToM’s blog post ‘Calamari’, it jump-started my brain at eight in the morning. (But, to be honest, it still feels dead)   I note that many of you, mostly those who live inland in your countries like America or Europe, either have some small part of seafood in your diet or none at all.   What if you had it on a daily basis?     I am one fortunate soul to have a form of seafood every dinner. There’s fish most of the time, but occasionally squid (or calamari if you prefer) comes to th

School Life Is The Blog Fad!

This is strange.   Everyone's talking about it. If they were not talking about it, they talked about it recently.   This is strange.   I felt no different, sitting there, part of the conversation and the topic is of one that I felt, somehow, was only partly relevant to me now.   Strange? Why should it be strange?   It was school they were talking about. They were returning to school. They were slogging through their homework, and making a good note to mention that they have homework. And i
