So with Splatoon adding new battle modes geared toward people who want to play online with friends, I figured it was about time to put out another all-call for any of my BZP friends who want to add me to their Wii U friends list. My Nintendo Network ID is "Lyichir" (without the quote marks). Games I have that feature online play: Splatoon (my current passion—it's the first competitive online shooter that I've really enjoyed) Mario Kart 8 (another game I love—haven't played in a while but I'd
I really need to learn to avoid any and all discussions of Lego part quality. The amount of misinformation in them tends to make my blood boil. Like the idea that the plastic formulation in Bionicle parts ever changed across its ten-year lifespan (excepting the introduction of new materials like the rubbery plastic tubing of 2007 onward), or the notion that Chinese production is inherently inferior (and cannot be made better or more reliable). I just read an interesting article about Lego settin
Why? Well, on top of the fact that it might not be the best use of my money (since BrickFair will itself be plenty of fun, and I've already PAID for five days of that), a new expense has recently shown up on my radar. That being... Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions! That's right: the Pokémon Facebook page just announced an orchestral concert featuring music from the Pokémon series. I had a great time at The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses two years ago, and this concert will be premiering
So a week or so ago I noticed that I was coming up on 1,000 posts. I resolved to pay attention so I could make that 1,000th post count for something. Today I checked back and my post count was 1,007. Whoops. Anyway, you'd think I'd have more posts than that given how long I've been here, but I'm far from the most active member. It doesn't help that I have a twin brother who shares many of my views and is generally better at conveying them through his posts. At least he's working on an avat
So, in the hopes of kickstarting some more discussion here on BZPower, I just started a topic for discussing the upcoming Lego movie! Head on over there and share your thoughts! Source: The Lego Movie
On Friday, Aanchir and I got out to our local comic book store, and left with one of the biggest comic hauls we've ever gotten in a single outing. (Image link) Pretty sweet, huh? They had run out of My Little Pony Issue 12, but we did get quite a few other things. The Search, Part Three is good (as I've come to expect from the Avatar comics), and does a good job of resolving the search for Zuko's mother, as well as providing some sense of closure in regards to Azula. The Sandman Overture
I wrote a fanfic? A BIONICLE fanfic!? I guess miracles do exist. Anyway, I didn't spend all that much time on this, so I'm not making any promises about quality. But feel free to head to the topic to check it out! Source: Flow Like Water
First and foremost, a spoiler-free review: IT WAS AWESOME. It was a fitting end to the series and certainly approached the greatness of the A:TLA finale even if it didn't necessarily match it. Now, to the spoilery bits, sorted for your viewing convenience. Story Execution Shipping So yeah. I was extremely satisfied with the finale as a whole. Mike and Bryan don't seem intent on returning to the Avatar universe right away, but that's okay—I'll be glad to see whatever they mi
I hope it's in some postmodern metatextual sense, in which the Toa discover that there are an infinite number of universes, with their own Toa on their own adventures. I'd rather the universes NOT influence each other even if there is a tenuous connection, but if they ever do Lego might as well go full Neil Gaiman with it.
I'm actually staff on The Ninjago Wiki. Hard to believe, right? Probably even for people there, seeing as like here on BZP I am far from the most active member. Anyway, Aanchir and I put together this review for the site. It's set to be the first in a series. Click the above image to check it out. It's my first review, so if you have any comments or questions you can leave them here!
This Saturday I am holding a BZPower Lego Movie Meetup at Potomac Mills mall in Northern Virginia! If you can make it and are keen on seeing The Lego Movie with a bunch of other cool dudes, you should totally come!
Guys guys guys. I just wanted to say I'm generally proud of what's been going on in the blogs lately. People have been making entries (at least partially) about politics. And the staff has, from what I've seen, been VERY lenient about letting them live so long as they stay civil. And for the most part, they have. That said, there are some things I'd like to talk about. Most of us know what happened in Texas. A lot of (generally agreed upon to be) bad stuff went on. Remember that that was
Are you super-psyched for The Lego Movie? Would you like a chance to hang out with some fellow BZP members? Has it been too long since you've visited a Lego store? Well, check it out! I'm trying to arrange a meetup for a bunch of us to get together at Tyson's Corner or Potomac Mills and watch the movie, visit the Lego store, and just generally have a good time. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, head over to the topic! I need all of your input to make this meetup as cool as po
Well, I recently became a premier member (for life), so now I have my own blog. I've never done this before, so here it goes.
'Ahem'
My name, or username at least, is Lyichir: Rachira of Influence. A Rachira is a being from a Bionicle story that I plan to write. They are beings of great power, so great that they each one has control over a different aspect of reality. They are:
Lyichir: Rachira of Influence
Aanchir: Rachira of Time
Gruchir: Rachira of Matter
Zheichir: Rachira of E
So yesterday after watching an AMAZING episode of My Little Pony, Aanchir, Meiko and I went up to Potomac Mills to see Catching Fire before it left theaters for good. As I expected, it was excellent. And as a bonus, we got to visit the Lego store! My haul was as follows: 70803 Cloud Cuckoo Palace 70724 NinjaCopter President Business Collectible Minifigure Emmet Poster, Wyldstyle Poster (which I missed last week), and Benny Poster Build-a-Mini Pick-a-Brick Cup (including, among other things, mo
So I read about the Caveat Scriptor contest BZPower was running in the comedies subforum. And I, a person who mostly avoids the comedies subforum, thought to myself, "Ah, this sounds like the kind of thing I could actually enter." So I did. You can read my entry, The Lego Movie: Primetime Pitch, here. Now for this blog entry to get buried under 2013 retrospectives!
Okay, I'm back to being Lyichir. And a good thing, too, since I was a bit worried the few people who recognized me before might have stopped recognizing me. This time just Lyichir, full stop. It's briefer and doesn't prompt questions of what a Rachira is supposed to be. Plus it helps to standardize my usernames across LEGO fansites. Speaking of which, can you do name changes on Cuusoo? I don't remember why I signed up for that using my abandoned Yahoo username, but I regret it. Gotta maintain
Today. Our dad's going to try and pick out some Bionicle and Exo-Force sets we missed last year. (That's what I expect they'll have, as last time they had a sale like this was last year, and they had '06 sets then.)
EDIT: Well, they didn't have much Bionicle, but Dad DID bring in quite a haul! He got the Batcave set, a Ferrari set, the Battank set, and the MOBILE DEVASTATOR! Wootcakes!
I just FINALLY remembered to listen to it on my laptop. What a freaking awesome song. The lyrics are great, and the music is spot on.
Geez, what do I have to post to get replies around here? If my blogging needs work, PM me tips or something. Don't leave me hanging like this.
I don't mind the new forum layout. I don't mind, and in fact encourage the site shifting focus. I do mind when members make a passive-aggressive blog entry, and then lock it so that the targeted members can't even defend themselves. I mean really, who DOES that? I mean, seriously. My brother and I loved BIONICLE, but we were okay with it ending. We do, however, take offense to people blaming LEGO for what was, in essence, a wise business decision. We don't like when people stereotype peopl
