As much as I love Halo... Portal 2. But get both Reach some time, it's very fun.

Amazon is running a good deal where if you get it for 360 or PS3 they'll give you $20 credit plus $5 off, so you're basically getting it for $35. Which is almost half off.

You won't miss much from the first game besides just test chambers, some of GLaDOS's quotes, and just what happened in the end, which is all explained in Portal 2 if I'm correct. And plus, there's more stuff in the sequel than last game, as well as co-op. B)
