It's My Turn For A Bit Of A Rant

blog_banner.png

Well, I'm gonna' keep this short and civil. Stuff's been going down... again, with the MLP issue, and I'm running out of arguments.

"Ponies are girly" - so?

"you're all gay" - I'm not, but so?

"This is a bionicle site, talk about bionicle!" - what about the music, other lego themes, movies, TV shows, other less "gay" fandoms that you all enjoy? Oh-ho, 'tis okay because you like it. I despised Homestuck (and still do) but never have a flamed, hated, argued or provoked an argument over it.

"Don't imply ponies are taking over BZP!" - Why not? It's a joke. I didn't see anyone complain when people joke about the borg converting people to Trekkies. 'Resistance is Futile", anyone?

"Keep it out of your sigs!" - why should we? do you keep your favourite BZP-safe band out of your sig? Your favourite movie/show? I think not.

All of this has been stated again and again and again, and even now, yet again. Maybe it's time we just ignore it all and continue on our merry way with our gay rainbow child ponies.

Basically what I mean is, next time someone starts going slightly nuts about it, nobody reply. Nobody defend yourselves... just leave it. Obviously the other approach isn't working...

Applause and cheers. This is completely true. I agree with every word, and have said as much on several occasions.

I am still quite perplexed as to why concepts perceived as unmasculine are labeled "gay".

But here, have my text blog approval. Or does nobody do those anymore?

I could post a pic of Olimar and an army of Pikmin in my sig for the same reason: because I love Pikmin. The only difference is that MLP is far more popular than Pikmin.

As for the "girly" and "gay" stuff, anyone who says that is ignorant, and there is little that is lower than ignorance.

"Little that is lower than ignorance"

*confused*

I believe the correct term is "haters gonna hate".

The question is what members of the fandom are going to do about it.

I've actually encountered near-hostility from members of a fandom that I am not a part of, even though I gave it a try and after a while decided it wasn't my thing.
