VICTORY!

On Tuesday the 24th of November 2009, LEGO made the announcement that they would be ending Bionicle in the middle of 2010. Immediately, campaigns and petitions began to bring Bionicle back.

On Saturday the 19th of March 2011, two BZPower members, Makuta_of_Oz and PAPER SPEAKERS WAT, got together to form a fan group and campaign dedicated to bringing back Bionicle, and as such the Bring Back Bionicle Club was born.

On Thursday the 7th of July 2011, the Bring Back Bionicle Club gained its own website, complete with projects, news, and later on, games.

And today, on Friday the 19th of September 2014, we have succeeded in our mission. LEGO has officially announced on Facebook and Twitter, the return of LEGO Bionicle.

As the rumours suggested, the "big announcement" promised by LEGO was about Bionicle. It featured a teaser video of the mysterious golden mask featured in a leaked image, spinning atop a pedestal. It was also officially revealed that this mask is the Mask Of Creation, once worn by the legendary Artakha.

Although we don't have any new information beyond this, it is highly likely that we may see Artakha in set form wearing the mask very soon. The revelation also points towards the likelihood of Bionicle's story being a continuation of the old story, rather than a total reboot, but this remains unconfirmed.

You may be wondering now, where does this leave the Bring Back Bionicle Club now that it has achieved its mission? Well actually, our task is not yet done. In addition to bringing back Bionicle, we aim to keep it back for at least a year and a half. This would bridge the gap between Bionicle's end and the end of what was supposed to be its 10th anniversary. All branches will remain open, and reporting more news as it comes, until at least mid-2016.

Now, feel free to discuss and celebrate this victory to your heart's content, and rejoice!

I'm still thinking there's a very good chance this is a reboot.

Perhaps, but the revelation of the Mask Of Creation makes me lead more towards a continuation.

I hope to god this is a reboot and not a continuation.

A continuation would be the best thing. A reboot will be met with skepticism from me.

Yeah man what's the deal with all these "sane people" who are trying to "temper my expectations" with "facts" and "business models"

~we did it~

Target audiences don't cancel out facts.

It doesn't seem likely to be a soft reset - LEGO has always leaned towards rebooting franchises of theirs with little to no continuations of sets. BIONICLE won't be much different.

LEGO might care about old fans, but they know there's less of us than there are new potential fans. Fans they'd scare away with a continuation (a soft reset might be possible however unlikely). Few 12 year-olds want to read ten years of backstory.

Sorry, I just don't see it happening.

I do see an Arthaka set eventually coming out though.

This is honestly no different than the kids on the LEGO Message Boards who claim their 20-signature petitions are solely responsible for bringing back BIONICLE. No single person or project had anything at all to do with BIONICLE's return, no matter how great they thought their efforts were. LEGO brought BIONICLE back, not you, and not anyone else.

Lego brought back bionicle when I made a Hero Factory version of Tahu, lego was impressed and wanted to use my idea, and I said on the page that lego was allowed to take my idea and that I wanted bionicle to come back so it did. We did this together because we had unity and duty and destiny and I pray to greg every night.
