Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games today announced Lego Battles, the latest Lego title in development. While previous Lego games by TT Games have latched onto large media properties like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Batman, this new title will focus on classic Lego themes like Pirates, Castles, and Space. Players will be able to build their own Lego squad and take them through 70 different levels in six different story lines.

"Lego Battles offers players the action-packed and humor-filled gameplay that make LEGO games great, along with the added bonus of linked multiplayer battles on DS," said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games Publishing. "We are excited to introduce a new Lego videogame experience to fans and young gamers and look forward to expanding upon the beloved toy lines."

Lego Battles will release in Summer 2009 for DS.

JUST the DS?! C'MON, PEOPLE! THAT'S NOT FAIR!

...

I don't see why LEGO wouldn't make Halo simply because it's a "war toy". They've obviously tossed the whole "non-violence" policy out the window already anyways. The title "Lego Battles" just screams it.

Habdabu?!?! Awhagarh?!?! WHAT?!

I have every single LEGO game that TT Games has released except Bionicle Heroes, so I'm pretty experienced with these. I have LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga for DS (as it is the only system it comes on that I own...) and it's terrible. Apparantly they fixed all of the glitches that were in the DS version of LEGO Star Wars II (which I don't have; I have all the others for PC), but it's got awful graphics due to the DS's memory or something. It didn't have ANY of the new levels and characters. It was pretty much LSWII with the I-III levels added onto it. With low graphics.

So I think this is going to be the title of this blog entry.

EDIT: I think they tossed it out long ago. There's rocket launchers in LEGO Indy. And in all the games, you hit people, and their body parts fly everywhere. And you pick up their hearts. VIOLENCE.

It doesn't matter if LEGO has thrown out their no violence policy, Halo is rated M and since all their products are aimed at little kids making toys from an M rated game wouldn't go over well with a lot of people.

DS multiplayer is so neat sometimes. It's too bad, though, that not enough of these games have the same features from local wireless as for a WiFi multiplayer match, that would be nice...

What?! I have it and I think it's awesome! If you'll notice, the Lego Star Wars II DS levels were very very different than the Complete Saga DS levels from those movies, with Complete Saga being closest to the console versions. The cutscenes being 2D basically made it so they could fit more awesome levels in the game. Also, a glitch-free game ranks pretty high in my book. If it's missing characters, it's only a couple, and I haven't noticed it.

My friends- this is where I'll agree with my opponent.

I like the DS. I have about three, but two of them still work. (The reason I have three is because I broke the other two.) I'd probably buy this game if it had Bionicle in it. Other than that, I've diminished to the point where I only like Bionicle minifigures. I'd never buy Halo sets if they made them- I like Halo about as much as Turaga Dlakii likes Chimoru Omega.

Otherwise, I would much rather buy... another game I have in mind...

I suppose that makes sense given the rating. But aren't they releasing a new game called "Halo Wars" that's only rated T? They've done a TFU set, so that doesn't seem to matter as a rating.

Is this a some sort of sick joke or something? 'Cuz it's not funny.

It's odd. I agree that it's not funny. And yet, I wish it was a sick joke. Because that would mean I'm wrong and that I could get the game.

I'm not a Halo fan at all. Although as of recently I've found myself wanting to just give it a try anyways. I seem to on some sort of phase of wanting to play FPS games.

My point still stands (even though I thought of this just recently). Halo sets wouldn't sell because not a lot of kids like them. Who do you think Lego wants to please more: kids or some 40-year old dude who likes to collect minifigures?

And since I'm starting to sound spammy...

I think you're wrong on the "violence" thing... I think the "no-violence" era ended with either Knights' Kingdom, Exo-Force, or Castle.

Hmmm. Only on one system.

Still, if they execute it right, debug it to perfection and make it all fun... it means there'll eventually be incarnations on OTHER platforms.

Brilliant thinking on their part. Revisiting their roots in a new technology kind of way is most welcome. They've got the Star Wars license for a good while, but I want them being recognized by their own established properties as well.

All the more reason for Nintendo to start shipping DSi's over to Norht America, 'cuz that's the only thing keeping me form buying a DS.

But the concepts sounds intruiging...once we have a teaser trailer and web site, we'll get to see the gameplay ideas and stuff and who knows? It could turn out a great succes.
