People go on about how Twilight is sexist/misogynistic/full of Family Unfriendly Aesops, myself included. But did we ever stop to think that maybe that's the point? Maybe Stephenie Meyer is actually a nihilistic and devious ###### who is trying to convince teenage girls that emotionally abusive relationships are desirable, not because she actually believes it, but simply because she likes messing with peoples minds. Moreover, she deliberately fills her book with Purple Prose and other poor writing practices in order to discourage non-moronic people from reading them and realizing what she's doing to their less-intelligent peers.

I read the first book, found it an entertaining read, but not because of the drama, romance, whatever, but because I found it so ridiculous that it made me laugh, which is a good thing in my book.

 

IMO that woman just wrote a story she wanted to tell and apparently quite a lot of people liked it.

 

And anyway, I don't consider a book something to be getting all worked up over.

I'm about 90% sure that Twilight is a vampire conspiracy, to give them a new fresh supply of willing victims for blood sucking times. Vampire comes by every night and watches you sleep, and you wake up with weird bite marks? How romantic! They are not at all planning on killing you or making you into their crazy vampire slave or nothing!
