What I Don't Get

Why couldn't the Mythbusters just have given their giant RC bus rigid axles without steering, stuck a laser pointer on the front, lined it up with the ramp, and just driven it straight up to the ramp? Steering wasn't part of the myth, and it seems like that would have saved a lot of trouble.

Also, also, there's still no guarantee that it would've gone straight. Many vehicles naturally veer in one direction and you don't notice because you're always steering.

If they could figure out a way to compensate for too much gravity, they should be able to figure out a way to compensate for drift.

Roads aren't perfectly straight, flat, or level. All you would've needed is one little bump to get it off course. In the long run it was easier to steer it remotely than to make a physically perfect environment and vehicle, as the latter is impossible.

The laser pointer seems like a good idea though. Grant was complaining that he couldn't see the front of the bus.. maybe that could have helped.

Send 'em a letter! =P

Well then run it along a rail or cable.

I wondered why they didn't just use (or even seem to think of) the rope/cable method they've used so many times before.

Well they were trying to jump the bus, so it would have been difficult that way.
